Don't really have much to say really. The game is very solid IMO. For a cross-platform release, it is not that streamllined / dumbed down as I initially feared. I having fun with it so far, putting Dishonored on hold after spending 3hours in the first area exploring.

It has a LAN mode, I don't know if it works with pirated versions. Maybe with one of those third party programs.

is it weird that i'm enjoying this game more than dishonored? it just has that "one more turn" quality to it that i found kind of lacking in civ 5.
anyways is there any way to make the camera stop centering every time you switch unit(manual or automatic)?
it's so annoying when you just want to move your whole squad to a specific area and then you have to drag your mouse and camera back to the same spot 4-6 times in a row.

Finally installing this (13GB for me are like 130GB for a normal person), can't wait to try it. The demo left me quite disappointed but it was just the tutorial after all... I'm sure it will get definitely better and more challenging

Play on Classic and the difficulty won't disappoint you.

How long is tutorial section?
I really wish just to go through it once, and then restart the game, and play without it.
Currently, I'm in part when I built containment facility and need to go to the mission. That's already 4th tutorial mission (before it, there were "cut-scene mission", another mission and extraction mission), and I'm getting impatient.

You finished the tutorial a while ago.

That can not be true, when building containment facility I am only able to build in in single place, with other places giving messages that they are locked in tutorial mode. So it's still on at this point.
Also I'm still pretty much hand holded with other people in base telling me "do this, do that" (with no option to do anything else).

There's only a couple of more tutorial missions after that, then your done. I suggest restarting at that point, so you can pick a base location that isn't locked per the tutorial.

Yep, that was my plan.
Experience everything tutorial has to offer and then restart.

Thats what I did. The tutorial ends after you build the facility and build the stunthingymajigg iirc.
Im playing both on normal (to see as much of the game as possible) and classic for the challenge, but classic ironman can be a real bitch though to start off with. The first few missions your rookies get oneshot so its very challenging to get some experience and therefor more hp and skills in your squad set up. So after a few tries im doing "ironman lite" for now and stick to 1 save, but one I can determine myself where to save.
Great game, will lose many hours on this.

The only problem I got with the game is that I think it's a bit too random wheather you loose your soldiers or not. Maybe it's just me, but I feel a bit cheated when you're behind full cover and you get zapped with a pistol from quite afar out. Great game nevertheless.

dint search for it, but i presume cover provide you a penalty of aim to anyone who try to shot you, not damage reduction. alien they may just get lucky with a 10% chance to hit.
ah, and i hate the inventory system for soldiers to. way to limited.

I m disappointed that there is no micro management at all. UFO: Enemy unknown was already a simple strategy game and not complex, why make it simpler, is this really the way people want their games nowadays. I remember when I played UFO for the 10th time on superhuman and u couldn t find one alien if u didn t have a motion detector with u. And that u don t have an inventory screen to change weapons bothers me too, I could have 4 types of weaponary with me at any time for any contingency.
They really dumb it down. But I think they do that for every game now. I guess people r getting dumber with all the cod and bf stuff.

I don't really like it. I might change my mind about it because 1) I didn't play too long 2) I probably just suck.
But so far and based on my previous experience with TBS like JA/JA2, X-COM's, SS it's just sub par to them. Solid for a console turn based game but mediocre for me.
I'm playing it in "proper way" - Classic dif, Ironman.
Pros:
- It's good looking, nothing fancy but it's ok.
- You don't have to look for that last enemy for half an hour.
- It has nice music.
- I like that people in the base have some personality.
- You can fail your game in about one hour.
- It forces you to make some decisions that might look ok on short terms but might make you fail later on.
- Soldiers can get PTSD.
Cons:
- You have only one base.
- There's almost no strategy part. It's just choosing between a few options.
- The loadout of your soldiers is just too simple. "No rookie you are not qualified to use shotgun or any other weapon." You can't have a grenade and a scope at the same time because of design decisions. I don't like the fact that you are so limited in this aspect - I can't forfeit a handgun for additional grenade and so on.
- Half cover is just useless - 75% of the time you will get shot if you use it. So only full cover becomes viable.
- Range doesn't affect accurancy. It's the same for long and medium range. It startes to change when your soldier is close enough to dickslap an alien.
- Grenade deal only 3 damage to an alien but can destroy metal wall.
- Some issues with shooting through walls (see my previous post)
- You are limited to one mission at a time and you can send only one interceptor even if you have 3 in your base.
- I can't stun enemy take his body and fly off. Due to design decisions I can't scavenge weapons and escape the mission. I don't know if I can retreat from mission but some mission - escort is basically - make it or die trying.
- There is no free aim. I can't target anything except enemy. (But I understand that it's because with no ammo you could easly oblitared everything in your path).
- I can't cripple enemies. If I hit him and he have only one 1HP he is just as fit to fight as with full health. The same goes for my soldiers (I don't count will).
- You will never ambush an enemy.
- Some issues with aiming and perception of hitting an enemy - but it's connected with shooting animations - so you have situations where you small chance to hit the enemy due to his cover (25% hit chance) but when you choose to shoot your soldiers align himself in straight line without any obstacles torward the alien.
- I can't take cover diagonally.
As I said in my opinion it's solid game in it's territory (console tbs) but it's more of Bear Gryll's situation - when there's no water to be found the piss tastes like best champagne. (That's my opinion about the score it gets in press).
And as I said I might change my mind later when I played it longer. Maybe it's better on Normal difficulty because I'm just derp.

No u re right its a console dumbed down version of UFO: Enemy Unknown. I agree with u 100%. Your not a derp. People that played the original wont like this game.
