If they keep the "cinematic levels" (the non-sandboxy ones) to a minimum this game will have the potential to be really good, as long as it's played on purist mode of course.
Well, so far in the videos I've seen there's only sandboxy gameplay on the same level of, let's say, Hitman Blood Money. I don't care for those derpy assistances they show in those clips, but by now we know they can be disabled so everything is on track for me

Hopefully it's an isolated case. (it has to be!)
Yeah, I hadn't seen that video till now. The only part that worries me is the helicopter part, that part did look very linear. Up till that part it looked that you had the option of being more stealthy instead of playing the way shown in the video, very similar to some Blood Money levels tbh.
Now if that helicopter part is really forced on you, I don't see how it would be possible to get a "Silent Assassin" rating in that mission as you've been obviously detected :\
I'm hoping that's just the shitty prologue or intro level or something. That section really doesn't fit in the game they've shown us in all these other videos (which really resemble the Hitman of old). I'm willing to put up with a few isolated derp sections if the rest is good Silent Assassinating.
I think the library is the 4th or 5th mission, after already having done a couple of hits in America.
Tutorial/Intro is supposed to be a Mansion, maybe like the 1st level in Hitman 2.
After watching that Helicopter section again, I dont see why the developers should force this sequence on the player.
There must be a stealthy way out of the library and after jumping the window the helicopter chase wouldnt need to trigger.
You could then either walk the linear section unimpeded, or sneak between the cages trying to avoid the spotlight.
Seems to be a fairly big magazine, although here in Sweden I've never heard about them but that's probably not that surprising.

- The game does not force you into any kind of gun battle outside of the tutorial. There are places where brute force is encourages, but can be avoided.
It was the same in Splinter Cell Conviction; game is designed for pew pew pew, but if you want to, you can exploit the bugs in the AI and call it "nonlethal stealth".
Well Hitman 1 had Codename 47 running around with a minigun and you could usually kill most anyone on the level in any of the games although for getting that Silent Assassin rating you have to work a bit harder to avoid detection and civilian deaths.
(On the other hand no-one cares to look him in the face so just changing outfits frequently makes stealth equally easy albeit one has to be a little bit careful compared to just shooting everyone just having your gun hanging out.)

How is exploiting bugs the same thing at all? lol
Anyway, Silent Assassining was always way fucking harder than going around and shooting up people in the old games too. As long as both options are there, which they seem to be, I'm happy. Not really a fan of the Thief 3-esque contained level thing, but we'll see how that turns out.

Thing is, there was no way to avoid action in Conviction. You always got detected sooner or later, even if you didn't touch anyone.
