More straightforward and approachable... Haven't played the first one, but I am guessing these two words might upset a few people Smile

Actually, the quote says "more straightforward and more understandable". It appears to be related to the story of the game and how game mechanics are explained to the player.
Doesn't sound bad at all. If you wanted to get into Dark Souls, you almost had no other choice but to look up FAQs that explain the mechanics.

Apart from the bad porting (that got perfectly fixed by the community) I didn't enjoy DS as much as I would have. The atmosphere was great, as well as the rewarding combat system, but I've never been a fan of the "trial and error" mechanics.

I didn't even find it that hard (except for some bosses..arrgh), it's the repetitiveness that kinda killed my excitement. Hope they manage to improve these aspects.

Yeeaaah! Screw those guys for making a AWESOME game and releasing it on multiple platforms! Screw those guys hard! Confused

Seriously idk why anyone would hate FROM Software, why not troll someone who actually makes bad games like EA.

I despised the first game. Only good thing it had was the challenging gameplay. Everything else was utter shoddiness. Especially the barren and bland atmosphere.

Don't know what to think of the new game. Hope it doesn't disgust me as much.

Wasn't there a guy who removed the 30FPS cap and fixed a few other major annoyances 1-2 days after the game had already been released? Laughing

Yep, Durante from NeoGAF:

From Software's excuse of not having experience with PC games was piss-poor to begin with, but maybe they can just steal his work for DS2. Laughing

I will defend FROM to death, but I don't think it they were just "inexperienced" in porting games to PC. It is a factor, but I think the team actually working on the PC version is minimum and with limited time. With the announcement of DS2, it is clear most of the people are working on that instead of the port, then you add the rest of the devs working on other ongoing FROM projects, there isn't a whole lot of manpower left. I doubt Namco Bandai would provide funds to hire more ppl or able to persuade FROM to diverge more ppl to the porting.

Then again, some guy fix all the problems within the day of release. Maybe they should hire him lol.

Difference now though is they have the PC in mind the whole time while developing this game. Don't forget the original game was meant to only be a console game. I'm sure they'll do a better job this time.

I hope.

It didnt take 1-2 days, and the 30 FPS cap fix has bugs that makes you unable to jump at a few places and other stuff.. but yes, it should be doable for a large team. I'm thinking they didn't want to do it because it would piss off many of the console owning fans, which clearly is the larger crowd of their fan base.

I seriously doubt that is the reason. That is childish. They already "pissed" their fanbase off when they refuse to confirm the DLC version for console, then it was announced the DLC will come to consoles after PC release. If they really "cherish" their console fanatics, those things wouldn't have happened.

Dang, I thought Dark Souls had an incredible atmosphere, it was very melancholy and drenched in loneliness, a bit like Shadow of the Colossus. And I thought the game had some of the best level design in a game since maybe System Shock 2 or Deus Ex 1.

I have stated my EXACT reason why i don't like them. They don't even go as far as to put a public thank you towards the modder for saving THEIR game.
Because it wouldn't had sold that many copies if the fix wasn't there, i can say that for a fact.

Yea, I don't think anyone who made it to Ash Lake would call DS not atmospheric. I can understand derps thought Undead Asylum wasn't all that atmospheric though.
