Overall, the 360 is the best console out of all 3 IMHO. Plus Kinect is really nice if you like family games.
But for exclusives, the PS3 is better. If you don't have any of the 3 consoles, the 360 is the best one to buy, definitely, I think pretty much everyone on this forum will tell you the same and that's actually why we told you to buy a RGH 360.

If for some reason the dude doesn't have it, is it easily obtainable? |

The dude will have it, since it's most likely him who will modify your console.
But yeah anyway it's easily obtainable, I myself never had it, and I still update fine.

I'm close to buy an used Xbox360 Elite 120GB, ready to play backups from the HDD for 100€. Assuming it to be in decent and working conditions, it is not a bad deal at all right?
And although most of my doubts have been answered here, I still would like to go over them again just to be sure:
1. Will the hack (JTAG/RGH) be possible to update easily?
2. Being the console hacked, will I be prevented from connecting to Xbox Live?
3. While being blocked from Live, can I still access the Internet? Or will all online capacities be off-limits?
4. With all online capacities blocked, how will the games be updated (normal patches and free DLCs)? Will I need to search for them online (on my PC)?
5. Will I be able to transfer the games from my PC to the console HDD, and play them virtually right away?
6. Regarding the HDD, if I run out of space, can I just plug-in a normal external HDD, or will I have to buy an internal Xbox specific HDD?
7. About the Xbox360 itself, is the Elite model prone to get RROD'd?

1. Yes
2. You cannot connect to Xbox Live but FSD Link which allows you to play multiplayer with pirated players
3. Yes you can.
4. FSD does the title updates or just do it manually DLC manually
5. Yes
6. Highly recommend External since it allows easy transfer of files (Remember the limit is 2TB)
7. If its not Jasper then yes.
Just get Slim not elite its almost cheap as $99 and get it RGH

1. Sure, once you know the drill.
2. yes
3. nope - (I guess i was wrong on this one when thinking about it.)
4. applications such as FSD uses third party sites which are hosting the updates to be downloaded automatically when you select the game you wish to update.
5. you can use FTP and Samba. I prefer just using Samba so i don't have to use any programs. If you want to try it, be sure to activate it in FSD2 or 3 in settings and use "//xbox360" just as you would to access someone on a lan.
6. You use the internal to store savegames and dlc's. If you like to get the most of your games by getting dlc's i recommend you look at ebay for cheap 250gb internal drives. They aren't original, but they do the job. I have an external Western Digital 2TB harddrive and i don't see myself running out of space anytime soon. If you wish to have another external hard drive you should copy everything besides your games to the other harddrive also.
7. I'm not sure, but you won't lose your games or anything if that happens, and it won't happen soon. So i'm sure you made a worth wile investment.
Hope this clears up certain questions.

Money. Simple as that. If I could spend some more, I probably would. Alas, I can't.

Cheap or not, I'm assuming they would end up costing more with the shipping. Being on the limited budget I am on, I really can't afford the extra post office taxes.
Besides, if I weren't lucky enough to find an already hacked arcade console, and since I lack both the experience and hardware necessary to do it myself, I would need to pay someone else to do it for me.
Which means that if I found a cheap arcade for 100€, plus the shipping which could go for something like 50€ and the hacking that I assume would be another 50€, if that, that means I would need to spend at least 200€. Well, if I can get a console, for half that price without the hassle of hacking it myself, I'll take it. And even if the Slim was already hacked, as I said, I simply can't afford the post office taxes.
The only thing in the Elite that bothers me is the lack of wireless.

Forgot to ask:
8. Will the hack still be easily updatable even if I don't have the original NAND and CPU key?
9. Is the Elite really noisy? For those with both an Elite and a phat PS2, how does it compare? The same, louder or quieter?

It does not make that much noise the noise maker on xbox fat is the crappy dvd player and with rgh ,you obvious are not going to make use of the dvd drive. , not really sure what you mean with that last qeuestion , but when you press the eject button of dvd drive xbox will boot xell and then it will show you your cpu key... to dump the nand you need an specific tool for that.

Doubt you would ever find a jtag or rgh for 100€, whoever is selling this to you sounds fishy to me.
200€ from highfe sounds fair enough to me though since it s brand new.

as him what model xbox it is , it could be an Zephyr or Falcon ,or in the best case an Jasper.
Falcons are relative safe , Jasper is immune for rrod. Zephyr is the oldest model you do not want to buy this one for 100 euro. he could put old model in elite xbox case

The easy way to spot which model it is is to look at what the PSU cable looks like (google for the differences). Jasper, Zephyr, Falcon and Xenon all have differences.
As highstuff said, don't buy Zephyr/Xenon, although Falcon can RROD too. Personally i wouldn't buy a falcon, but for 100€, why not... I had bought 2 jtagged xenon in the past, and they both RROD. Like you they were tempting because cheap.
Eventually, I prefered to hunt for a 2nd hand Jasper, and jtag it myself, not only it was real cheap because I didn't buy it all pre modded and everything and found the console by myself, but also it rocks solid. Jasper FTW !
EDIT : as said above, save a little money if it's not Jasper or maybe Falcon, because in the end i lost more money being cheap with the RROD rather than buying a Jasper since the beginning !
