So after the Xbox 720 is announced are CD Projekt Red going to do that same thing. Guess it will be another free day of advertising for them. But today I kind of feel like a dragon.

Yes, I'm sure Skyrim wouldn't have happened without consoles, it's not as if every single one of its predecessors was developed primarily for the PC and did extremely well on that

lol, dream on. Skyrim apparently had a budget of 85,000,000$, you simply cannot do that with 2-3 million sold copies. Skyrim = More than 12 Million sold on consoles alone, 2.75 on PC. Cut that budget in half and you got a game they could make for pc only = so skyrim in its current form would not have been possible without consoles...

In comparison, Morrowind, the last title that came out for pc first, and as a shoddy xbox port later, only got 2.8 Million in sales

that's exactly what they said Smile guess they wanted to be first this time and brought the event forward a couple of weeks/months.

lol, its so damn important what the fucking console looks like Rolling Eyes
i d be more worried about the technical side, for example whether footages like deep down were really in-game or just target renders, the console itself can be shaped like 3 hairy dicks prying into a tight, bleeding male anus for all i fucking care.

@ Guerrilla: "ok" Laughing
If you think $85m was spent on the game, sure. $60 of it was marketing and a waste of money. Majority of the rest is money for the voice actors, sound studios and such Smile

some interesting info

1. Used games won't be blocked.
2. By default games won't require one time activation, but publishers are free to opt for online pass stuff like they do now.
3. 3D is not main focus
4. Games target 1080p 60fps.

there is more info in that interview but i think these 4 are most important.

First of all, how is marketing a waste of money? Not nearly as much as 2,75 million units would have been sold if there wasn't any marketing campaign. So you actually believe a project like skyrim would have been greenlit for pc only? Or Mass Effect, or Gta, or bioshock or the arkham games etc. etc.

Todays budgets are not possible without the console audience. Why do you think there are only veeeeeery few AAA PC exclusives?

Because they saw that the console audience is more dumber to make them fall for the same crap every year over Laughing

@ I_N (change your username already btw Sad PM mrt or Rinze): Good, fuck 3D. 1080p60 was to be expected, don't think any of us expected anything less, did we?

Just watched the KZ3 gameplay video in 1080p, it does look very pretty for the most part (what irks me, but that's just me, is the motion blur Neutral). Nothing we haven't already seen on the PC, but for a launch title it's pretty darn good. Just a shame that it's Killzone, so still no AI, slow as hell. Without even being the one playing it, the stick aiming made me cringe Laughing

@ Guerrilla: no, most games do not need the excessive marketing budgets. Definitely not for the PC and even for the majority of console gamers it's wasted money. These companies are still stuck in last century, when paper and TV ads were the big thing. They don't use the internet well enough. And especially long-lasting franchises, such as TES but also CoD for example, do not need such extensive marketing campaigns. They don't rely on viral campaigns and mouth to mouth advertising, which is how most people still find out about games. Not because of some TV ad, but because someone they know told them about it or someone on a forum made a thread about it.

Nope.

When he does the death from above takedown, in the conference he moves up straight towards the guy on the right, whereas here he moves in between them Wink

So they do have a script but it's not prerecorded Razz

KZ2 and KZ3 look quite good, to be honest. One of the few titles that look good on PS3. Still, 720p, but they look good and framerate is consistently smooth at 30fps (Laughing).

Honestly im not that impressed by KZ4. It looks like an upscaled KZ3 without the vaseline and with better textures...

They do apart from the vaseline. KZ3 also went overboard with the bloom, it overdoes it at some points, I much prefer KZ2 overall. Gameplay's equally shit in both though Razz

Because it's more cost effective to make a multi platform game that is released on as many formats as possible to maximise revenues??? I mean, it doesn't take much to figure that out.

Exclusives from now on will be completely and utterly brand-cheats since the new consoles are nothing more than mid-range laptops without keyboards and monitor. Same innards (x86 multi-core AMD APU on Sony), x86 AMD CPU + HD7000-GPU on new Xbox. Xbox already use the DX-api and will now use DX11, the same API that have been used on PC's since 2009.

The HW differences between the consoles and PC's are basically gone except when it comes to performance. Current mid- to high end PC's are already current or past the Xbox HD7000-GPU not to mention the APU in the Sony which is the budget alternative.

No more special RISC CPU's etc., just common pc components on a tight board (like a modern laptop). That will open up for scalability between all platforms, consoles AND PC's without having conversion teams converting and reassembling code for non-x86 CPU's with poorly connected rendering engines.

This time the possibilities for ports to actually be as good as if they were made exclusively for the PC will be there (but it won't be quite that good since there will be one main platform that will decide certain limits). Still, porting games will now be more about matching API's than porting code to different architectures and differences in hardware.

But it's not run on a PS4, it's run on a PC development kit machine afaik.
