No, it's been proven false by now. The game is called "Thief".

The 'rumour' and '4' have to be removed from the title then.

In Focus mode, time slows down, allowing you to target your opponent’s weak spots. At the minute, this seems to be done by dragging a moving cursor over key areas and a matching button press. It makes combat more of a quick-time event sort of experience, but with ‘Focus’ disabled combat is a more traditional affair. This optional mode takes its inspiration from Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes film, in which Sherlock Holmes uses his immense intellect to rapidly evaluate an opponent’s physical frailties – “So alright, because you have this brandy nose, you probably drink a lot, so I’m going to target your liver and it’s going to be very painful. That’s the philosophy behind it,” reveals Roy.
Wouldn't it be better to just try and improve the overall combat instead of having normal + optional "hurrdurr soe immersive!1" QTE tardo system? Neutral

PS4 version will look close to identical to PC version, except for one exclusive "special feature" the PC will have (3D? TressFX?)

Not 3D. TressFX would be a better guess (since it runs off DirectCompute and not OpenCL), although I still doubt that.

3D should be the easiest to implement so I think it has a good chance to be it, why not?

"this is a reboot rather than a sequel" = meaning same s*it in different package.

Loved the original one - specially the fact that when it came out you couldn't play it! You couldn't climb the ropes! So what you 1st needed to do before start playing was dl 17 mb (if I remember right) patch. 17 mb ain't much now a days but I can say that times when 54k modem with dial connection that didn't hold the line - it took AGES to get it...don't rememebr how many times I needed to dl it but many...and there was no resume in dl back then.

Still have the cd original + burned cd where the patch is.

Now same game with nice gfx - that looks a lot like assassins creed...not sure if I have even to test it. Don't think it will be next X-COM (reboot game that I waited what -almost 20 yrs (?) before some1 finally made proper version...kind of)

Because it's something that is supported on both sides in very similar ways (despite the PC having multiple middlewares to do it).

If anything, I'd say Oculus Rift support is more likely then.

Of course, there’s also suspicion over the new, detective mode styled “Focus” ability that is being called optional, but, as of right now, can’t be turned off.

Okay
It's not that hard to let the player decide whether use it or not, like the yellow outline + markers in Human Revolution (which I disabled completely). This one seems more invasive though, just like that evil hated Instinct.

Gief some long gameplay videos and we'll judge Twisted Evil

Quote:
To make sure you can redeem yourself when accidents happen we have the Focus, but it's limited resource. And the ammunition and arrows are a limited resource, so you have to really pick your battles. You can't sustain your fall back plans.

So Focus is like a get-out-of-jail-card for those kind of players who just want to have fun when they get caught and want to clear the area. But in the next area they won't have many resources left, so they'll have to try a little harder. It's a balancing act right now. A debate we're having is whether you can disable Focus permanently for hardcore players who want to brag about doing it without any of the extra tools.

Quote:
There are some people who, maybe, have kids sleeping upstairs and who just want to sit back and enjoy a good story and play the game. They expect navigation markers, they expect contextual keys because it might have been two weeks since they played the last time and they don't remember the key combinations... You know what? Have fun with it! You can have those features.

But we also want you to say, "I'm gonna take a day off from work and I'm just going to play through this game and have an awesome experience. I want to disable all the help features and I want to figure it out myself." So the debate we are having is about wanting to give the players the opportunity to disable and customise their play style the way they want to play. That's very important for us.

Well at least there's no health regen, that alone puts it above most AAA titles. Too bad about UE3 though, not much modding potential to be had. Sad

There shouldn't even be a debate in the first place imo, just give players freedom of choice with the option to disable helps/HUDs/Focuses and that's it. Do it!

What I think that they're really saying with that is "Maaaaaaaaaaaaan is balancing the game _again_ for those that don't want to use derpcus really worth our time and money? Confused".

Hope they do it, but even with this being eidos(Deus Ex HR and blablabla) I'm starting to think more and more that we were just lucky that DX:HR was sort of a fluke with the right people having the right ideas.

I'm not a fan of the Thief franchise but I have the feeling that they'll derp it up.
Hope I'm wrong though.

The next-gen console versions of Thief will likely be capped at 30 frames per second, Eidos Montreal producer Stephane Roy has suggested, telling VideoGamer.com that he would "prefer to have better physics" in PS4 Thief than a smoother "60 frames per second frame rate".

"On my side, the type of game I'm going to work on... I don't want to put extra pressure on the team just because we can do it if it's not a necessity. If the players see nothing different, maybe I would prefer to have better physics and stuff like that and not this 60 frames per second frame rate."

One thing that I hope this game has is full body awareness. Arkane's older games (and not only those) might have spoiled me, but I don't care. If those guys could do it when they were smaller, so can bigger developers now. I was really disappointed when I found out they dropped that in Dishonored.

Why do you care? It'll be 60 fps on the PC. Smug

The lower the framerate and resolution on the consoles the better for the PC version.
