I found a pistol before doing the quest to go get the boat.
I got lost somewhere, and it was inside a kind of ruinied temple, with some audio log about a girl going in an expetition with some people and her sick husband.

Good summary Smile - my impression is similar.

I just arrived in the "city" (which looks more like a city in Italy, but not in Asia...by the way) and even if I have not completed the game, my impression is, that while playing you feel all the minor enhancements and tweaks they implemented making it a superior game compared to the orginal DeadIsland.
Starting with the enhanced graphics, the better weapon feedback (you can "feel" far better, if a weapon is slow or fast, how much stamina it requires, the range of the weapon and so on) the better implementation of guns, better cutscenes and voice acting and so on. Everything feels a bit more "polished" than in the original "Dead Island", which felt a bit "rough" around the edges.
I imported my character from the original DeadIsland and in my opinion the balancing is better, too. In the original DeadIsland the game was pretty easy until you came into the city - then it became very frustrating and rather difficult. In Riptide the learning curve is better balanced. Sometimes a new boss, sometimes a new zombie type, but nothing overwhelming so far.

Sure, the annoying bugs, especially around the respawn mechanics (items and zombies) and this crap with automatic equipping weapons you just picked up are a pain in the ass, but the game is still lots of fun. Until I now I would even rate it higher than the original game.

best regards

Get the Dead Island Riptide Helper.
Besides many other things, you can higher the item pickup delay, so they don't get equipped all the time.

The Director's Cut mod for Riptide is available in case you're interested Smile (this version might have some bugs, but seems to be working fine for me)

Is that compatible with MP? If yes, how does it affect co-op players if they don't have it installed and you host the game?

Yes it should be compatible, I don't know how it's handled though, since I've never tried co-op. I believe that you both need to have the mod installed, anyway you can directly ask it to the creator in the official thread Razz

Funny how pathetic of a job these devs did..

The charge sound is with EVERY char the SAME and totally DOESN'T like either one of them at all.
The sound is even sounding way lower quality then the rest of the ingame sound...

actually those 4 npcs who are in cut scenes who follow you around, do follow you around. technically you travel as a pack of 4 or 5. But you travel as one.

They don't do shit, they don't help. But they travel with you.

@sausje could just be a bug. The audio is a main part of this game that's incredibly fucked up.

He means "follow you around" in like, you are supposed to be traveling in a pack, but you can't see the others, you count for the whole pack Wink

Did anybody here buy the game from Zavvi?

Today I received my preorder copy but on the box and manual there is no mention of the Survivor Pack DLC (instead in Italy it's mentioned), and I neither have received an email with the DLC key.

I still didn't redeemed the game key on Steam, perhaps is the DLC redeemed with the main game?

I already contacted the Zavvi support, but I'll receive an answer only the next week...

You need a separate key for the dlc.

I bought mine through Ozgameshop and they forgot to send my dlc key but they credited me with the $5 which I used to buy it through steam.

-Zombies will notice you from far away and will continue following you unless they encounter geographical challenges.
-Realistic Damage, weapon effectiveness vary, with smaller and weaker items not being so effective and weapons designed for killing more useful.
