Well, just people saying that when they coop, one persons progress ends up getting corrupted and/or their levels and gear is not saved so the next time they hop in a game, they are back at lvl 1 with nothing.

I don't have any links off hand, but I know some earlier pages here some people linked some stories.

Maybe someone else can chime in on the current state. I'm speaking mainly from what I read in the beginning/early releases.

Playing with SP character in MP may result in data loss. But if you use MP character from very beginning - there is nothing to fear.

New Scenario Mode areas came with the new update Cool

Quote:
Balance changes:

- Cost of inserting Essences into items rebalanced.

Fixed bugs:

Multiplayer:

- Other players' icons are grayed out while they are on different maps.
- Made some improvements to the movement prediction which should make "random teleportation" rarer.
- The network code is much more optimized with less traffic. This lowers the network related lag.
- Fixed a bug with synchronizing the enemy hitpoints.
- Fixed an issue with the quest markers remaining over people's heads even though they have disappeared from the map.
- The "Go Offline" and "Continue playing offline" functions were removed. You can only go offline if you are the server and noone has connected yet. (You can still exit and continue offline from the Main Menu of course.)
- The floating text in the game is now displayed in the client's language, not the host's.
- Fixed an issue that could cause the server to be stuck after cutscenes.
- Unit throwing and knockback works properly in multiplayer.
- Joining a game sets the town portal destination properly.
- Frost mines are no longer treated as obstacle on clients.
- Sound effects of skills are playing properly.
- Quests no longer give XP for every character in the party, only once as it should.

General:

- Sound of the Earthquake skill fixed.
- Fixed a bug with the Gluttoner Idol in the Lost Place. (It gave the Ability Points twice.)
- Fixed another issue with creating equipped items with higher level limits than the wielder.
- Fixed an issue that could cause the Marquis of Soot to fall through the roof.
- Fixed the Scholarly Ghost perk. Now it should be achievable.
- Fixed the tooltip of the Fury skill's icon in the lower left corner.
- Removed an exploit with Lady Katarina's shopping feature.
- You can no longer sell unidentified items with the Sell All button.
- Fixed an issue that could cause you to be teleported to the Lost Place even if you've already escaped once.
- Fixed an issue with saves getting corrupted in case of powering down your computer while playing.
- Quest items are no longer brought into Scenarios. (Don't worry, they will be there if you return to the Story mode!)
- Fixed an issue with the Hidden Treasure quest. If you are already stuck with that quest, you can fix it with the "/FixQuest 1" command in the chat!
- Ray of Destruction can no longer be used if you have less than 100 Mana.
- Fixed an issue with trying to use spells from out of range. Now Van Helsing should always try to get in range and then cast the spell.

New features:

- A new system of rewards for Scenarios is introduced. Killing monsters in a Scenario will now add to your Glory pool, which in turn will give you Glory points. You can spend these points on bonuses in several different areas. The Glory gathered and the bonuses bought are shared among all your characters.
- Two new Scenarios are available: the Croakwood and the Rookery.
- New shortcuts are added to Enchant/Use Laboratory ('E') and Disenchant ('D').
- Damage Per Hit values now include the potential damage from Critical Hits scaled by your Critical Chance.
- You can bind spells to the Left Mouse Button as well. These will only work if you click on a valid target or while holding down the Shift key, otherwise Van Helsing will try to move to the clicked position.

So people can see that it's a pay-for DLC and that it needs a separate character to work.

EDIT: Whoops I'm tired, it's a new skill tree for Katarina, not a new character dependency. Very Happy

The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing v1.1.09

Known issues:
- The multiplayer game still has some issues. Switching roles between host and client might cause some loss of progress in the story.

Fixed bugs:

- Multiplayer
- Fixed a bug with the Treasure Hunter perk. It properly shows up in the detailed information panel when playing with more than 2 players.
- Fixed a lot of achievements that only worked for the host.
- Katarina works right when you send her away☺
- Katarina sells the items if you switched to another map as a client while she is out shopping.
- Characters who reached the level limit shows normal number as the XP required for their next level in multiplayer.
- Fixed some story progression errors.
- After respawning at a checkpoint, your character works normally.
- Inviting/joining from outside the game now works correctly.
- Icons of the spells affecting Katarina no longer show up at the bottom right corner for the clients.
- Fixed an issue with the other player's HP display.
- Effects don’t remain on screen for the client after they should have disappeared.
- Fixed some issues with a skill of the gargoyles.

- General:

- The infamous Old Town crash fixed.
- Improved performance when launching from Steam.
- Improved loading time when launching from Steam.
- Item lag fixed when launching from Steam.
- The HP per Hit bonus from Vitality Essences works in the alternate weapon set.
- The Diamond Essence works properly.
- Fixed an intended inconsistency in Lady Katarina's Otherworldly Senses skill.
- Fixed some potential exploits with Circle of Timelessness. You can no longer interact with objects/people or teleport home and cutscenes will automatically end the spell.
- Ray of Destruction and Occult Shield spells will end automatically at the start of cutscenes.
- Fixed an issue that caused the summoned shooting Katarina clones to try and flee instead of attacking as they should.
- FixQuest 2 and 5 got expanded a bit.
- FixQuest 8 should work properly now.
- You no longer fail the Orichalcum Shipment quest if you collected all the 10 items, but didn't report it before the night version of the Port became inaccessible.
- Items dropped on the ground couldn’t disappear if the game did not close properly.
- Fixed a bug with Online Characters. The list does refresh properly when creating a new character and deleting a file wasn't permanent (saves were synchronized back from Cloud on startup).
- Spells with no cooldown don’t cast twice with one click (e.g. Earthquake).

Why is this game so addictive yet so horribly tedious?

ahhhh

How far am I from the end? I've just completed the abandoned labs and need to shut down the shield walls at the palaces.

Great game. And I managed to stay in D3 for like 3-4 hrs and then I puked all over it.

Amazing game, got it @steam summer sale.

Tower Defense was one of the best thing about VH because it was done nicely. I hope they make an extended version.

I'm really looking forward to this, the game absolutely blew me away because it had so much character. I also really enjoyed the TD mode too, which is bizarre since I'm usually not a fan of TD titles, heh. Can't wait to get back into the fold with Van Helsing and Katarina Very Happy

Biggest problem for me in Van Helsing was that you are tied to one uncustomizable character (ok ok Van Helsing, but still), the armor also doesnt have nearly any variance visually. This kind of game really needs atleast good looking loot. Also since they have gore in this one, they might aswell make it look better, those gibs hovering in the air like in zero gravity looks so bad. Other than that, its awesome looking and plays well.

As opposed to every single other aRPG on the market since ever? If you weren't interested in the genre (since you plainly aren't) why post in the first place? You don't see me going around the FIFA and PES threads going "More mindless kick fest. No thanks"

Yup, just like the "Blue Blood" DLC was a new skill tree for Katarina. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about charging for skill trees.. it seems... tacky... but then, it's not like VH was expensive in the first place, $15 for the game was great value to me. For all three parts that will end up being around $45, if the other two parts can give as much gameplay as the first one (I got around 16 hours out of VH) then I'm very happy. It's not like the additional skill trees are even needed Smile

This is as much a "mindless click fest" as any other game in the subgenre, including Diablo and Titan Quest. That's okay though, you "like" those games
