Spoiler: | I thought it happened to me too, because after I killed the last bug nothing really happened. So I started killing those tentacle things (using magic) and walking around the area for a bit, and suddenly the game cut to the scene where she's trapped (endgame). |
Yes, yes I'm back.

Wow, looking at their forums, there are a bunch of bugs.
The HUGE endgame bug.
Cyberware/Essence. Rounding errors and other bugs with essence.
Skills that are useless in the game as they were based on features that were removed.
Editor crashes
The save system (yeah, not a bug but it's fucked)
Odd spelling mistakes.
Just off the top of my head.

Spoiler: | That's not the same issue. Those pods never opened for me other than right when the round first started. I got one shot at one at the start for 18 damage and it closed. Beyond that, they were immune to all damage by me. I think that could be related to the bug as I think they're supposed to start closed and only open when she's healing. I still had one bug left when I "killed" her. After killing the bug, she just followed one of my characters around and nothing further happened.
This isn't a case of just missing a trigger or not killing something. It's a problem with the final mission. If you kill things out of order, it breaks. |

That will be the real test of them as a company to see if they even bother patching them anytime soon.

They are immune to regular gunfire and those special anti-bug guns, but they are not immune to magic.
Anyways, HBS already say there's a fix on the way.

You aren't understanding me. They were immune to EVERYTHING. Period. Like I said, this isn't a case of people just missing something. It's a BUG. Guns, fists, swords, magic, summoned shaman creatures (and their magic or attacks), grenades, etc etc. Everything was immune.
I don't care that a fix is on the way. A proper beta test should have caught this and many of the other bugs.

I completed the mission.
I didn't do anything in a specific order.
So obviously it CAN be missed.
"Proper beta test", oh come on. Bugs are present in most games, particularly games with complicated game mechanisms.

That was fast, good to see them keeping on top of it. I really didn't expect a patch til after the weekend but then again they would have got more bad publicity since one of the bugs prevented you from finishing the game and with so many probably playing this weekend and getting to that point since the game is short would have been kind of bad.

I wonder if they fixed the vendor before the final mission. One of his options is mislabeled in the editor so it doesn't show. You can buy everything but medkits and doc wagons.

It's true, Socialite wasn't in my game at least. I've used Shadowrunner, Security and Corporate - and I've seen Gang and Academic. I haven't seen any chances to use Socialite or Street. My earlier fears are definitely accurate; for better or worse, HBS built an editor first and foremost, they created the blocks, the components, then said "here you go! Assemble these into something magnificent! We've created a starter example to show you how it's done " It's good, it works, the audio is great and the writing is sharp, but primarily it's a building set for others.
~edit~
Scratch that, Van Graas has a "Socialite" option when you try and sell him some data near the end of the game.
I'm inclined to agree with fisk; this will earn its name over the years. Berlin is supposed to be out a few months after, which will give another huge slice of the "official" campaign and also add new elements for the hombrew community to use, but it's really the community that will take SRR and make something great. RPG elements will be expanded, maps will be larger, stories will be more involved, skills will play a larger part, there will be more legwork-style missions rather than just "hub > fight > hub" -- I'm sure of it. What HBS needs to do is still stop screwing around and fix it so people can *easily* import their own models, their own textures, their own audio -- and if they really want the game to last, it would be a good thing to allow some kind of scripting, even something as simple as RGSS. I fear there's only so much you can do with a trigger/event system.

Considering the fact that they intend to SELL new tilesets I woulnd't count on allowing us to make them on our own and import them in the game; it's loss of money for them. Kinda bullshit if you ask me....

It's not an article, it's part of their plan. On the KS site, on the main site, they've spoken many times about future DLC such as campaigns and tilesets. However, article as requested;

DLC in Progress:
Berlin Campaign (new campaigns also allow you to build with an expanded set of tiles).
Map Packs (new terrain tiles and props for you to use in your own campaigns).
All New Shadowrun Stories (created by HBS).
Additional Outfits and Portraits for your character .
Backers and Collector’s Edition Pre-orders will receive the Berlin Campaign at no additional charge. Any DLC developed after launch will require payment.

I realy dislike their dlc buisness model.
The game as it now stands feels like a missed chance, the engine could support a classic like falout 1 or 2, but now it is a short, lineair rushed campaign. DLC's will not fix that.
I'd rather see them starting another kickstarter for a real campaign (or shadowrun returns 2), 40 hour +, with all the features that made classic rpg's great, travel map, persistent party member, branching story, dialogue that influences the game etc.

Like I said, it looks like they put most of their effort into creating a toolkit for everyone else to use. I have no doubt that, if people really do stay interested in creating content, we'll get our epic 40hr campaigns --- and since a lot of people are proper hardcore SR fans, we can realistically expect the same, and higher, quality too.

Thats what i think, people really shouldnt be too harsh. Im sure the community still ranks higher in the HBS conscious than the money they make. Now that the game is out they can fully concentrate on making stuff like Berlin.
Like i said before, 1.8 mio isnt much money to keep a company afloat, they had to release it now and for the short time they worked on it they delivered a polished product.

The rest I agree with, but this? Haha, this I had to comment on; it's not like releasing the editor early was "gift to the fans" or anything, it has to be bought and not cheaply either. Only people that got access to the editor were those that backed on KS at the $250+ level It's great that some people did gain access early, it allowed for the likes of McDougal, Tubbster, ledeir and Dyslexic Coder to really tinker and come up with new content before the game shipped, but let's not kid ourselves that it was an act of charity

I have no doubts that we'll get some amazing content as time goes by, Shadowrun isn't something people just forget about and move on, unlike Legend of Grimrock... which is fantastic but so many lofty plans and such were dropped or never came to fruition after the player count started dropping

Exactly! Hell, we had 1hr+ "LP" of Life on a Limb, the first addon campaign, before the game had even launched LoaL had far more interactivity and sidequesting too, not to mention it had proper loot and persistent corpes. That from a fan with only a month to work with the editor, so yeah.. as disappointed, rightly or wrongly, as many people are about the base campaign; I have no doubts about the possibility of UGC.
.... my only lament is that content creation takes time, it could easily be anything up to and surpassing a year before we get anything truly meaty. That and I really do hope HBS work with the community to allow importing of more assets than just custom portraits and props, the ability to import and use custom audio is damned near essential.
