You should reconsider, it may take a few hours to get into. But it is sooooo rewarding, and the replayability is out of this world.
+ mods will keep you occupied for years to come.

previous incarnation was least complicated out of paradox grand strategy series , from videos it didnt look that much different, there were new things so i hope its deeper and more complicated, i still feel grand strategy game doesnt fit paradox games, as they are barebones untill 20 dlcs or 2-3 years of player mods

They make the best grand strategy games. Obviously doesn't suit them, though.
They should go into the MOAB craze instead.

grand strategy game doesnt befit game with so little choices , noone else really makes grand strategy games, i just find genre name bit silly, as there is nothing grand about the games most of the time, "grand " should describe actions or choices you can make in game, and not the map size

ok so this demo is amazing. it's like eu3 x 10,000.
at first i was angry at the changes because i did not understand all the subtle numbers and percentages and modifiers. well once the learning curve was past, i just couldn't stop myself. ffs i think i've wasted a good 8 hours in one sitting and holy shit do i have to take a dump, but wow this game is great improvement on eu3. everything dumb about the last game got nerfed and the good stuff got improved. omg omg omg x 3. this game is going to take over my life. + i can run it on ubuntu *orgasm*

I know the feeling and I bet most do who played any of the paradox games. But if you are interested I'd say: put some time into it.
It can keep you entertained for hundreds of hours and if you are used of one game of theirs it's easier to get into one of their others

i have read two of your posts in this thread.
and i can tell you have NO IDEA ABOUT WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT.
Paradox grand strategy games have hardly any real choice?
you either haven't played EUIII or CKII at all, or you have but got annoyed at the complication (betting on this one) and are now having a hissy fit in the thread to try and stop other people from realizing how deep, complex and rewarding these games are.
I still play CKII (after 200 hours in my steam playtime) and i can guarentee that i dont use ANY DLC or mods (because the vanilla game, of christian feudal war, is seven miles deep, and infinitely dynamic. DLC is bonus, content designed outside of the original mandate, and OPTIONAL.)
so all of your points so far are sooooooooo ignorant is hilarious.

i played both , but neither of them have many choices , seriously, lets take ck2 as its latest game and i remember it best, choices differ depending which religion/area you play, but basically its divided into very limited diplomacy and war, you have 5 advisors with 4 -5? options each, while that sounds like a lot, in reality it isnt
declaring war is very straight forward and simple click and repeat process depends what you play, manufacture casus beli or just declare war because of different religion, from marriage to raising levy , everything involves very little effort or depth
i find ck2 extremely easy, only game from paradox that ifound hard at some point was hearts of irons 3 with that biggest mod, name fell out of my head, but thats because mod added 500% content original game had , and hard lasted for a hour...
did you play victoria 2, or newest expansion, that added like 5 things, that game so so basic and easy its hardly "strategy " at all
i grew up by playing rts, most of them were far more complicated than current paradox games, and i was playing them since i was 14~ or so , i dont trow hissy fit because game is too hard, whats hard in any of paradox games, they arent hard, they are complicated if you never played one before and cant be bothered to spend an hour learning it
oh and you dont play ck2 with addons/mods, so things you can do in game are even more limited, being able to play as 30~ factions what ever, when 80% of gameplay would be the same, or the fact that game can go any way, doesnt mean game have depth or many options
but each its own, for you game with dinasty/succesion/war/religion/vassals + 5/10 options in each equates as a lot of options, for me its just scraping surface, i want proper diplomacy, proper ai, proper research, proper holy wars, expeditions, random events, small events, big events, alliances, way more choice to do things i can do already, many of those were actually added into ck2 as addons, and ck2 with all addons can be called grand strategy, but base game without dlcs, cannot

All that text...So you want a more complex game? Play the myriad of Matrix games out there.
Hardly any armchair generals, that would disagree with your last couple of sentences - more of everything, no thank you?
I for one think the EU series are getting better, alot better even.
Edit: Someone on RPS posted this:
Possible to play any country:
1) Pick one of playable nations, for example VEN (Venice). (And, for example, MOS (Muscowy) as playable one.)
2) Go to \Europa Universalis IV Demo\common\countries
3) Rename “Venice.txt” to “Muscowy.txt” and “Muscowy.txt” to “Venice.txt”
4) Open \Europa Universalis IV Demo\common\country_tags0_countries.txt
5) Change tag allocation to VEN = “countries/Muscowy.txt” and MOS = “countries/Venice.txt”
Havent tried it myself - only 4 more days!

Actually you only have to switch the positions of the lines in the 00_countries.txt file.
I.e. exchange the line for ENG with the line for POR to play with England and.

There is a all countries unlocker which removes the timecap afaik on 4chan. Works to unlock at least. I've preordered it anyway but fun to try a few more nations.

Anyone seen a hack for the time frame ? (To start earlier, ie 1452 or something)
1492 start is lame. Such a steamroll in Europe by Austria and France

sure,
but I recall that the blobs aren't quite as strong yet.
France has more vassals, Austria does not have north western Europe (though they have Hungary in Union).
etc.
And Ottomans are much weaker.
(Though I'd still prefer 1399 start much more)

1399 start will come as DLC I'm sure, seeing as there is already the info for that in the history files.
