660ti , 3750k @ 4.3ghz, 8gb ram, SSD
game runs smooth on extreme.
Maybe those with poor performance have a bottleneck somewhere ?

Could be a HDD bottleneck then but that should have affected loading times and such, not immediate game performance?

So... I upgraded my monitor, to a 1080p BenQ. Ran a 1920x1080 benchmark with the same settings as my 1680x1050 set-up. Same average frame-rate (47fps). Flicked the "Unlimited VRAM" option on. Same average frame-rate.
Ummm... Okay? Yey, I suppose?

Quote: | First Total War: ROME II Update this Friday.
At Creative Assembly we are very pleased with the response to ROME II, with hundreds of thousands of players enjoying the game so far; but we do know that, as with all large PC releases, the variety of hardware and general system specifications can cause issues for some people and we are urgently working to help get them the right experience.
As announced last month, we are also planning to tweak the balancing, AI routines and other features now that we’re getting real-time metric feedback from thousands of players.
The result is that the first update to the game will drop this Friday, with the intention to update the game on a weekly basis in the immediate future.
Full patch notes will be available on Friday, but the update will address known instances of crashes due to hardware conflicts alongside several other performance fixes.
In addition, anyone experiencing graphical issues including low resolution textures, should check our support forums at www.totalwar.com/rome2support which contain suggestions for settings which will improve visuals in almost all cases.
There are also a variety of other fixes suggested in our support forum, please head there to find out more or report your own problem directly to the CA team who will assist you. |

WTF every game they release it non finished I dunno, I bought shogun 2 i would never buy another game of theirs. Add in all the shitty DLC you wanna buy to get full game and it takes 6-9 months before the game is even finished after release , its total waste of money.
I get ok FPS with haswell i5 and 770gtx, 20-60 I guess playable, but the AI is terrible and I get random black screens.

My C2Q is certainly bottlenecking my gpu for this particular game, but even then, I'm getting an average of 45 fps with some occasional dips to 24-30, with most settings on "Very High" (shadows on "High") 16x AF, and SSAO enabled. Also, I disabled the hideous AA and am using my custom SweetFx settings. Game looks pretty good, though I wouldn't know if it doesn't look as good as Shogun 2.

Doesn't matter what settings i have the ground looks like shit... i did the low texture thingy in the ini , the rest of textures work fine (units/buildings/etc) but the ground looks like crap even on extreme also shitty AA And the optimization....i don't have words to describe it
I'm damn disappointed about the launch so far
out of sig inspiration for the moment

Guess what? Same old.
It's a shame because I really like it, but what an unoptimized piece of shit. Even if I put everything on high/very high with no AA it still dips FFS.
Optimisation needs to work at both ends of the scale. I guess, like with COH2, I wait for a miracle patch/drivers. |
Formatting is really a myth, especially if one upkeeps their PC. Just like having to remove old driver, clean using some crap driver clean up tools, restarting 3 times, dancing around the fire praying to gods and only then installing another driver.
