You sound a little narcissistic forgetting the possibility that people might be bored with all the shit and rants you post here. Maybe that's why they can't even be bothered to look for the stuff that actual has any content... Maybe that's why you are promoting anarchy? Cauz you never seem to get along with.. well anybody? So anarchy isn't a choice.. it's just the only option for the fucked up personality you seem to have?

For once I didn't buy a Total War, and god am I fucking at peace with this decision. What a bugged piece of shit:
*Lackluster performances while looking ugly,
*Retarded AI,
*Lifeless campaign (really boring, I mean, there's no competition, the only "challenge" is to conquer a province and managing the mood malus so it won't rebel, WOW, what a blast!),
*Loading times are ludicrous,
*Looks like a failed CIV game.
Huge letdown, but salvageable. LOTS of patches and complex mods are the key to heaven, but it will take some time, as usual.
Until then, me no touchy this piece of misérable merde.

Hey guys, just some thoughts and questions from a new player to this series (have been playing Rome I and Empire a bit)...
156BC and there is like NO enemy in sight that could really challenge me anymore. Difficulty is set to normal, however, as u guys already stated, it doesn't make that much of a difference as the AI seems to be 'broken' to say the least at this 'vanilla'-state of the game.
Seems to be the right environment to learn about the buildings and their effects, growing pace of your provinces, units and to develop strategies.
Eh...if you only needed them. Pls don't tell me, starting a new Campaign (with Rome) on legendary turns out the exact same, now that I got the game mechanics and know what to build and when? There is no problem in gaining enough money (not even exploiting the 'raiding cities over and over again-bug')
I destroyed Sparta in ONE turn. Had Carthago down pretty early on. My neighbours? Meh. Send more armies with like 3 skirmishing troops and your general.
In fact, I get flooded with enemy spies, champs and heroes...however, they just tend to standing around, not really trying to harm me. (Btw, why the fuck does it take 5!! tries with a chance of 87% to kill ONE of them?! Did I get smth wrong here?)
The Empire or Republic-dilemma was merely a joke...2 turns and it was over and Rome has become an Empire...
All my cities are upgraded to the max (I didn't build LvL 4 Stuff with squalor yet, cause I need to wait for some researching first), but there is ENOUGH money to do so...as someone said b4, I can 'rebuild' 4 city provinces at once...so no edicts needed, just 3-4-5 turns and they are all happy. Rebellions? None.
Legendary will be more of the same, just 'slower', but using the same 'winning-mechanics', that we use on normal?
In my opinion, it's pretty impossible even for guys 'new' to this series not to steamroll all over the world map, after a short phase of getting used to the stuff. Too easy too early in the game, making the rest of it boring as hell.
No wonder those roman guys invented crazy orgies and stuff not to get bored to death from conquering the world.
A game, half-finished and tested, but yet appealing to the casual gamer, who just wants to 'beat' the game to move on to the next.
SEGA might be happy.

I'm quite a bit further than you and am being challenged in this game for the first time.
I think it was about 90 BC when everybody started declaring war on me and now I'm literally at war with everybody. I'm getting swarmed by enemy armies across the whole campaign map and enemy agents are abound. Subjugating enemies as buffers is impossible because even if you turn them into client-states they always declare war on me a few turns later and as such cause more problems than they solve.
The combination of being at war on so many fronts and the limited amount of armies (15 for me currently but only 12 are out in the field right now with 3 more following soon) makes for the most excitement I've had in this game yet.
There are still a lot of auto-resolve battles but it's just getting pretty tough to keep expanding when enemy armies are always waiting for an opportunity to attack an unguarded city.
Spoiler: | Can't even tell any more how many wars I have...
My campaign map right now
|
I'm not saying this in defense of the game or anything. it's unacceptable that there is no challenge to be found for almost all of it, but perhaps stick with it a little while longer and get yourself into the situation I'm in right now and you might find some fun...

If you are complaining about difficulty you really just need to play another faction besides Rome. Rome is super easy mode because you start with so much already, and decent units on top of it. No matter how hard you make the difficulty slider Rome will always be the easiest faction to play as in campaign mode.
Yes, they still need to fix the difficulty; Doesn't mean you can't have fun though playing a different faction.

Has a patch been released today, 22.7MB? Steam has updated the game but maybe that's something to do with opting out of the beta the other day. Just saw there is a 'patch 1.5' in the beta options..

Ah yes, I read smth like that the pages b4 (following this thread for some time now), maybe it was even you?!
For now I get lots of offers for client-states or defensive treaties..but I turn them all down, as I don't want to get entangled in any problems they might have with their neighbours (plenty). I do like non-aggression pacts (well, until I send my armies there in the future) and trade-agreements (obviously), as stated by someone b4 in this thread my income from that exceeds 10k/turn.
I am quite busy right now conquering Africa, Egypt is my 'goal' for today, that's where I will stop, I guess it's easier to defend that 'bottleneck' down there later on.
The Iberian Peninsula is another nice target soon to conquer, I'm quite lucky that it's mostly one-settlement-factions by there now, so taking them one by one with 2-3 armies...a matter of an estimated 15-25 turns.
I would really enjoy some challenge in that game, so I am 'counting' on your experience to get some more belligerent neighbours soon.
As I might be new to this series, but not new to the 'strategy-sector' itself, I try to look for terrain and 'bottlenecks' that help me to defend my territory. After all I really tend to enjoy playing on the campaign map, autoresolving battles, trying to move my units in a strategic manner all the time, though not needed up to now.
I guess I will upload my campaign map later on, telling u if I ran into any serious opposition by then.

You might be right about that, but yet I see very similar stuff for all playable factions, so might be a lil harder in the beginning, but once u got it running...just my idea, haven't tried it.
For sure, my first campaign had to be Rome and for someone, who has just played Rome I for maybe 1-2 weeks and the Tutorial - First part of the Campaign of Empire, I did very well so far. Maybe just some affirmation from a new guy to the series, how easy the AI and game mechanics are. Talking about 'casual gaming', if u believe in that.

Yep the 1.5 beta patch is no longer beta, officially released. They're supposedly working on the next big patch which they delayed a bit to add more fixes than they first intended.

I wonder if the beta thing came as a response to the Angry Joe review when he said they'd easily be able to get people to test their games for free. There's a big thread about his review on the official forum and CA staff have been posting in it, so they must be taking notes.
