The game creates a "Agarest.ini" file with game settings.

LockWindowFrameRate=30.000000

There's that little fucker (Yeah I do swear online, sometimes, when I feel like it or something, in this case this little setting is a bit of a fucker so that's what I'm calling it, makes no sense but that's pretty much how I am.) causing my framerate issues.

Game seems pretty good so far, like most other older tactical JRPGs.
But controls are a bit annoying with mouse/keyboard. Will try with remapping or playing with control again.
And only japanese voiceovers sucks a bit Sad
Also i don't seem to be able to alt+tab while playing this Surprised

I'm playing it in windowed mode...best of both worlds in this case. Very Happy
Game is ok(played it on ps3),but sooooo much fighting that it gets very repetetive very soon. Glad I got those DLC's this time, eh. Wink

I don't mind though dubbing tends to suck in most cases so I prefer these but if possible providing both (or more) language VO's should be the ideal solution. Smile

Is this purely tactical battles or is this more like Suikoden or Final Fantasy where you can run around the world?

AGmod 0.1
Quote:
It’s a solid PC port, but I still implemented some stuff for fun that might interest one or two people out there, so I gathered it in a small mod.

Working features:

Change the internal rendering resolution of the game (e.g. for supersampling)
Turbo mode which speeds up battle (2x or 4x) and can be toggled by user-configurable keys
Dump and override textures (as in DSFix)

Not-really-working features, but neat as demo:

Use the Hybrid xBRz algorithm to upscale game sprites

That turbo mode sounds good.
Is the tool safe to use with legal version?

I can't seem to get the mod working...game crashes at startup due to the DINPUT8.dll.
Might be the settings too though.

Have you tried unplugging any gamepad devices?

That file is for Direct Input and it's a core Windows file so it shouldn't be missing or anything either. Smile
(It has however been updated a bit, I believe W8.1 further updates some of these core DirectX files but I don't know the specifics, probably some optimizations or changes to match the OS or something.)

EDIT: Does dumping this in the game folder work?
http://www.dlldump.com/download-dll-files_new.php/dllfiles/D/dinput8.dll/5.03.2600.2180/download.html
(Older version of the file, DON'T dump it in the Windows folder.)

EDIT: No that won't work, didn't see that the mod also uses that file to hook into the game executable.

EDIT: Tried it, works fine here but I changed intercept.ini first.

No gamepads connected and tried disconnecting G13,but no luck.
Oh well...can't be arsed to find the cause of the crash,I'll just play it vanilla then. Very Happy

The turbo functionality is something I haven't tried yet but the downsampling effect is pretty difficult to notice so it's not that useful, characters are 2D sprites after all and unaffected by this (But that other feature which currently isn't working so well might help with that.) so it's mostly been the 3D background landscape and the sparse detail there makes AA kinda redundant.

Well, now after some hours i can say, that it doesn't seem as nice as many other JRPGs sadly.
It sucks that after every event there are at least 2-3 fights you must fight before next event.
And so far the story isn't even half as immersive as Final Fantasy for example. Where i got excited how the story goes on.

But "thanks" to this, i'm in the mood to play some Wii or PSP RPGs emulated Very Happy
"The Last Story" looks pretty good and seems to on par with Xenoblades

i wouldnt say on par, xenoblade is the best jrpg of the last decade by a large margin, but last story is a pretty good game on its own, its very unique and creative to say the least, combining stealth with jrpg gameplay in fun ways.
a big plus if you like uematsu´s work on old ff games, he did the music for last story and there are quite a few tracks that deliver nostalgic nods to old psx-era ff tunes.
