Disconnect any controllers you have, supposedly that cures the constant scrolling.

Nope doesnt work.

Edit: apparently you also need to reboot without the controller Rolling Eyes

Surely this isn't right.. It either uses PhysX or it doesn't use PhysX. Why would it require to have PhysX installed if it doesn't use it?

nxcooking.dll and nxcharacter.dll are in the game folder so yeah it uses PhysX for something.
(Those are older runtimes from branch 2.8.1)

But there's a chance the borderless fullscreen setting will crash the game, also further down is a comparison about how the fix apparently removes the normal mapping effect.

Yeah as i said above i would just wait a while bevore playing it, im interested in it too cause its seems like a quirky homage to the oldschool survival horror games but its just not worth it atm there is way too mutch broken, so i rather replay the fatal frame 2 remake on dolphin atm to get in the halloween mood grinhurt

So, no more crashes then? Is it "safe" to finally install and play it ? Very Happy

I found the courage to install it and play for some minutes, the game looks intriguing, but in its current state it's as pleasant as a punch in the eye (even with the better res), not to mention mouse controls which are nearly unmanageable at the moment since they feel totally floaty and.. weird. DPmousefix is needed too! Laughing

I'm pretty sure this is the worst port that I've ever had the chance to play, at least Dark Souls supported (some) gamepads. Damn you Japs Razz

it might not be the port, the game really is awful in terms of mechanics on ps3/360.

i mean it's unmatched how bad it is. the actual game is fantastic though.

360 controls sucked, but the PS3 DC fixed that. The PC mouse/kb controls are simply terrible, and I'm pretty sure that all they did was write a routine to emulate an analog stick with the mouse movements (which makes the lack of any gamepad support even more ridiculous). It's floaty as hell and even harder to aim quickly than it was on the PS3.

There's no excuse for the PC version to not have been a combination of the PS3 "HD" graphics, DC content + DLC, and improved gamepad controls, along the audio from the 360 version. PS3 audio was hollow with a stupid reverb/echo filter applied to it, and from what I've seen of the PC version it's the same. It even has the audio glitches that made the PS3 version annoying. 360 sound was much better. Not to mention that there were no problems with cutscenes in either console version.

All that said, Rising Star never bothered to patch the western PS3 version even though many people were getting framerates in the 10-15 range quite often, and the Japanese PS3 version was stable at 30 fps all the time. I wouldn't count on them fixing anything but the most major issues, if even that. You could argue that Steam patches are free, but so is the first title update on the PS3 and they didn't even use that.

It's unfortunate because buried under all the technical bullshit there's a really great game, at least for fans of Twin Peaks and survival horror in general.

I can't use PS3 controller (disguised as Xbox 360 Wireless controller) with this game at all. It just doesn't recognize it. And on top of that the port is terrible in many other aspects. :/

I have none of those issues.. no stuttering cinematics (unless you mean 30 FPS is "stuttering"?). Looks really great with:

renderWidth 3840
renderHeight 2400

for the internal render. playing @ 1920x1200.

runs completely fluid, constant 60 FPS.. i dont get any crashes with latest patch.

Edit: and yeah even the controlls works really fluid for me, if this was Quake i probably wouldnt have been happy with the "feel" but meh, i couldnt care less about it for this type of game.

Hell, even alt+tab works Smile

No, the cinematics framerate is variable, 22-26. I messed around with codecs a lot but no luck. I checked steam forum and seems I'm not the only one with this problem. Sad

Yeah the Steam version was updated shortly after release in order to fix a issue with achievement unlocking or so I read on the forums. Smile
(GOG and Gamersgate should still be 1.0 and there's no change in functionality or such, just fixes achievements which are exclusive to the Steam version.)

tapping A / D (when "captured" by an enemy) doesnt work.. not sure if it's the 1080p patch or if it's like that in the default game too.

prudislav: it's a detective survival horror adventure / action game.. open world'ish. Basicly what Alan Wake promised to be, until they derped the hell out of it. It's also very funny in a twisted way.. Music is absolutely great, just too little of it Wink
