They didn't touch teh exe so updates should work as said earlier. Why would I want to use a scene crack when this one works?

Some still think scene brings something unique and if is released by 3DM , ALI213 or P2P is not legit or that scene is better.
In the matter of fact P2P is ahead of scene these days.

Essentially I want all the DLC items and locations/adventures working without it messing up game progression or enabling all my side objectives prematurely.

I have some strange feeling they changed the system for download and patches for this one. And it will be something like steam now. At least for patches maybe. I don't see updater .exe or sometihn.

There is a lot of weird stuff in the game that wasn't thought thru. I already mentioned disappearing small critters like crabs and birds but there is more. Butterflies completely ignore heavy rain and keep flying like if it is sunny and when the spoken heavy rain starts - even inside the houses and under the bridges/arcs all surfaces are wet.
Some of them are funny, like if you freed pirates in the city, killing only the guards that watch them, - they easily run away through the "wall" of these guards that stand aside, guarding, and the latter don't mind. Sometimes pirates even bump in them and there is a short scene when pirate and guard shout at each other, haha.

He is a bloodline of kenways. he have assasino-blood !
yeah it is awkward. My fav games about pirates were Sea Dogs (oh man oh man!) and sea dogs2(Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl).
I played the hell out of that second game. Shame it got streamlined into a movie game but some of it's sea dogs roots survived.
and man dis sea dogs was complicated and hard game.
This ac4 is clunky and flashy. It looks good but I don't like something about it

I played the game for about ~6 hours (basically all the evening, thank you based Sunday), and this is probably the best Ass Creed to date in my opinion, at least gameplay-wise.
+ The pirate theme is great, so are the characters. But it's not just that, the map is really huge and exploration is a crucial aspect (more rewarding, too, thanks to the detailed environments with various secrets/chests/extras scattered throughout the world);
+ I noticed less hand-holding (for an AC game, that is - so still above the average), you don't have to waste hours of gameplay just because the game needs to keep you prisoner of uber-long tutorials and pointless cinematics;
+ Even if the base mechanics are the same as before, panthering around is actually more fun, thanks to the better level design, less corridor-like (AC3 was quite terrible when it came to being stealthy);
+ Grandpa Edward is a cool guy, nowhere as whiny and naive as his nephew Connor (no shit, he's a damn pirate )
+ Naval combat is arcadey but nice, there's no denying that;
+ Animus/modern day segments (in 1st person view) aren't too invasive and not that annoying since the old characters are gone;
- hideous performance, with an engine that isn't scalable at all and doesn't use the hardware properly;
- the combat system, sadly, hasn't been improved. There are "tougher" enemies here and there (good) but the painful "get in line, one at time!" AI is back (it's never gone to be honest );
- Manual aiming is finally there, but it's a bit clunky and doesn't "enhance" the gameplay as much as I hoped;
- It's an easy game, but we already knew that;
- Graphically speaking it's not exactly stunning even if we got the next-gen version (old models/new post-processing tricks, a weird mix overall), but has its moments (the sea + environmental effects for example are excellent). Could have been next-generer though;
It's still early to tell, but if the story doesn't magically start sucking, I can see this Black Flag reaching the top of my personal Ass Creed chart. Nothing groundbreaking of course, but it's something slightly "different" than usual, and a great improvement over the shallow AC3 (imo).
tl;dr -> (I'm not negatively surprised -for once! It's something. )

It's quite possibly the slowest AC story ever. 20% through and literally nothing has been revealed.
So far Kenway's
Spoiler: |
* Boat sunk
* Killed an assassin
* Pretended to be an assassin
* Joined the Templars
* Learned of 'the observatory'
* Betrayed the Templars
* Freed some pirates
* Stole a boat
* Freed some more pirates
* Stole another boat
* Taken over an entire cove
What I know of the story:
* There's something called the observatory
|
That's it.

Nothing's really been explained at all.
Take the intro;
Spoiler: |
Kenway appears to be some sort of deck hand at the start?
|
And then after that
Spoiler: |
He just suddenly pretends to be an assassin... but not just that, he just somehow knows what to do? There's no "who the fuck are these assassins?" or "shit, I have to prove myself by assassinating dummies, what do I know about assassinations?". It's just "sure, no problem, I'm Stabby McStabberson". |
But then, suddenly
Spoiler: |
Everyone is calling him Captain, and following him like he's the shit, despite it never having been established that Edward is some cool motherfucker to begin with |
And then, for reasons I cannot fathom, you suddenly have characters telling you how to sail... despite the fact you've already murdered half a dozen ships by this point. Or telling you how to work these Mayan statues, even though you've encountered two of the fucking things by now already.

Just finished it. Story-wise one of the worst AC games there is..
But this is most likely because it used different writers and they prolly weren't allowed to use THAT much of the story itself?
Gameplay-wise it was quite a blast, waaaaay better than AC3 could ever be..
That puts my order of AC games to: AC2->AC1->AC2:Rev->AC4->AC3/AC:B (rev scores so good because of it's story elements mainly).
Oh well, now we wait till next year

I don't know, maybe the reason people feel that way about AC2 is because it was actually much better than the first one.
Step back from the insane, unrealistic, and subjective belief that all video game sequels should be quantum-frigging-leaps ahead, and accept that a video game's job is to be fun, not to be innovative.
Your complaints about the hand-holding, etc. are understandable, but that has absolutely nothing to do with the shovelware development cycle. It's clearly intentional -- as in, they wouldn't have it any other way if they could.
And for the record, I'm personally annoyed by how they milk the AC franchise. But that doesn't have anything to do with the whole AC1/AC2 discussion. People like AC2 because they thought it was a great game, not because of some obsession with entirely remaking the mechanics and gameplay every 5 seconds.

I can ask you the same question, why do you let them get away with it?
Typical bitching and moaning about how games like AC and CoD are always the same, yet you are full of anticipation of playing this one, typical
Vikerness wrote: | In the meantime im still waiting for teh scene release like a stupid mofo Hurry up already yo |
As to why AC2 is better than 1, plain simple, AC1 was repetitive as fuck, it had a really good story, but gameplay was really fucking boring, harder fights but waaaaaaaaaay more repetitive. AC2 had a REALLY good story and awesome gameplay to come with that, they got rid of the repetitiveness AC1 had and made it a little tad more "cinematic" (not sure if this is the word i'm looking for) with the hand holding. There was more than enough freedom still left in the game, so the bit of hand holding it was doing was something the game could afford to do.
