Great stuff Nforules, that looks fantastic. I can't resist anymore, will try it as well tomorrow
I'd wait until the first patch comes out, because it might require starting a new game. Should be out this weekend.
Ishkur, did you disable the actor legs from options menu like they suggested?
I decided to try it for a while, but without doing too many quests. It's always a pleasure to see the Marked One again in all his glory. I only scratched the surface though, will start the serious playthrough once everything gets sorted out.
What can I say, this is almost like a completely new experience. Doesn't make me forget about Survarium of Duty, but does a great job at providing something fresh while keeping the good stuff intact. Different environments, more open levels, tons of new features/changes (some of them seem to be bugged, but time will fix 'em). It's the closest thing to a proper Stalker sequel . It's quite heavy performance-wise though, surely much more than CoP+Misery and almost on par with Clear Sky, but very playable.

Windows 7 64 bit black screen/crashing during launching. Change XR_3DA compatibility mode to windows xp sp3.
XR_3DA is the programs launcher tha'ts needs to be set to win xp sp3 compatibility mode. XR_3DA default install location is
C:\Program Files (x86)\S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - Lost Alpha\bins\XR_3DA
If you installed the game to a different drive then the location will be a bit different.
Or just right click on the desktop icon and select properties.

Enjoy it ^^

nforules, you tried that nice patch for more realistic weapon sounds? I remember when firing from AK47 was really close to the real thing. I was always carrying around AK47 just to hear it.
Randir, spoiler that. I don't want to know where are those new mutants. I want them to jump on me from nowhere!
Yes if you're talking about previous mods for STALKER. Only STALKER/ARMA/DAYZ manages to bring REALISTIC weapon sounds in a game. Never played any other games that makes imersion come alive. Nothing feels so good emptying an AK47 hammer sound into a mutant.
Here's a new addon for Lost Alpha (unofficial)
Lost Alpha Model Pack 0.90
Since the Build 1935 weapons are pretty bad, I quickly threw together a mod to replace the models with better ones from LURK and LWO. This mod keeps the statistics exactly the same; only visuals and audio are changed. The current version contains almost all weapons, and the few remaining will be replaced as well in a future version.

I'm not a programmer, but since most of these errors are related to script entries, it "shouldn't" require a newgame.

Did the Dezowave team ever explain how they were able to release this without legal issues? For a free standalone game that uses assets from a series that is still being sold, I'm surprised whoever owns the Stalker IP isn't sending them cease and desist letters.
LA team was getting a lot of support from GSC before the GSC "closed its doors" and after. That support included unreleased builds, assets and help from the original STALKER devs. LA team sent their builds to the GSC for review and to the people who worked on original STALKER which work for VostokGames now. It was originally intended to release this addon for a small fee and it should've been published officially by GSC as a stand-alone game (I think they planned to release in on Steam). But after the April 1st Lost Alpha leak GSC basically said "sorry, we don't want to publish this mod because there was a leak". Because of that leak they had to push the release date and release it for free (since GSC stopped being involved in the development after the leak) naming it "Early Access" since mod was not finished and contains a lot of bugs so there will be fixes and patches.
I may be wrong about something but that's what I've got reading Russian STALKER-related forums.
P.S. Originally devs thought that the person from VostokGames was responsible for the leak just to be later revealed that it was one of the LA crew who "leaked" the build and password for the RAR-archive.
The team who created this "Mod" (it's actually a full game), was originally promised by GSC (the creators of STALKER) that Lost Alpha will be released as a full STALKER game or expansion, and they will get some of the profits. And they even got help and support from the developers to make their game better and more polished.
Now as the source code has leaked, and anyone can have 95% of the content for free - GSC will no longer release their game, and the development team will no longer receive any money for this project (that's been going on since 2009).
So they decided instead of finishing it (which will take another year), to release it as it is (only fixing the major and critical bugs) for free.

i just finished the metro games and i love them should i try LA or is it too late to bother?
Too late??? Absolutely not. STALKER series pisses all over on the Metro games..

Yup that is lost alpha.
It would have been a consumer product, but then it was leaked and they decided not to charge anything for the game.
Using the word "mod" doesn't sit right with this one. I wouldn't call black mesa a mod either.
These games are full featured products, esp this one since it doesn't require stalker to run.
Thanks for the explanation. Yeah its not a mod if it doesnt even require the main game.
np enjoy the game

There's another one in
Spoiler:
Cordon, in a ruined house around where the barn used to be past the railroad bridge. One NPC even gives a story about encountering it and being embarrassed at running away from a midget.
Ahahahha I must seek out that goblin. Please there must be a reason they exsist. I feel really bad killing one
Wow I was getting the last of us vibes going through that forest^^
This does NOT feel like a mod at all. More like stalker 1935 build (see youtube) or STALKER expanded. This feels like what STALKER should have been from the start. Besides the few bugs/CTD everytime I enter a new area i'm getting more and more suprised.
The color palette they used is excellent, really sets the mood for the game. As promising Lurk 2.0 looks like, it will be hard going back to vanilla stalker even with insane audio support with LURK.
Some of the ares are downright HUGE. You go into one open area, only to find tunnels or crypts asking you to explore their inner secrets. Hell even the voice acting works so good.
Can't wait to check out the area around Pripyat or...... the reactor it self
Rostok Factory <--- how is it possiblef or xray to run this INSANE map without blowing up? I actually first thought Rostok was pripyat expanded, but no it's another bigass town.
Fixes most game bugs
Replaces textures/audio with higher quality ones
gamedata.dbb - Textures/Audio from Complete Mod + Alex Texture Pack + others
gamedata.dbc - original gamedata folder + LA Changes by Chriotmao 0.3 + other fixes
gamedata.dbd - Kaktus_CZ difficulty/Balance 1.1
Why go modular like this? Some people would like only certain parts
1. Do not install the game in Program Files (fixes saves)
2. Delete user.ltx (fixes settings)
3. Set game to run as an Administrator (fixes crashes) (properties tick)
4. Download/Unpack my mod pack and delete gamedata folder (modpack contains it)
BUGFIX LIST OF WHATS INCLUDED AND WHAT TO TUNE
Fix overly bright sky(not caused by my mod pack, just an adjustment)(user.ltx):
*r2_tonemap_middlegray 0.50
*r2_gloss_factor - messing with this one should fix overly dark/bright objects, havent found perfect setting yet
*Upgrade fix 0.7 (Included in v5)
Fixed:
- crashes when config is missing
- selecting weapons/outfits in the list
- selecting the upgrades
- it is possible now to view details of all upgrades, but only the allowed ones can be installed
- repairing of outfits
- it should be possible to repair not-upgradeable weapons and outfits, but I could not test it

Have you tried headshots, S.T.A.L.K.E.R does have locational damage and a few mods have taken advantage of that.
However there's also a script which I believe was unused at first in the original game which causes zombies to twitch and get up a few times, sometimes with the use of a nearby controller although I don't know how it works in this mod.
F1 grenade kills them instantly, not sure about the other one.

[UPDATED] Here are the latest fixes. Thanks to everyone who participated with the hi-speed bug hunting and fixing!
This bastard contains the next fixes:
I've tried this one and the weapon textures/animations and sounds are so much better! I think the models are from LURK mod which imo are the best looking.
Just in case backup gamedata folder before copying new one since the official patch will be out later today.
Before copying gamedata folder make sure to backup original gamedata (60 and something mb). Then copy the new one overwriting all the files. If you don't like "unofficial patch" or you want to add official one, delete entire gamedata folder and restore/copy back the one from your backup.
