About game:
Quote:
Cornerstone is an open world action adventure, with an emphasis on exploration and combat mixed with physics and player choice. A game inspired by The Legend of Zelda games and Dark souls.

The world is structured similar to Wind-Waker with a series of islands connected within vast ocean, almost every areas is accessible from the start. The main method of transportation between islands will be by Ship (and don't worry, there will be fast travel).

We’re aiming for an art style that invokes a sense of wonder but at the same time has the ability to charm your socks off. Stylized geometry with simple textures but with realistic rendering, and of course much inspiration will derives from the Viking culture.

This is a taste of what we have been working on and we really hope this can make you exited.

You have to understand that this is still in the very early stages of development and it will definitely change during development!

Update 20 # - Smooth Sailing

We are planning on having the "Beta" sometime around early June (halfway through full time development). We want to have time to make as many improvements as possible based on your feedback.

because of the name changing and the company registration stuff we had to postpone the forum a bit, we want to have it up before the beta though!

Here is some game-play footage for now. There aren't to many visible technical improvement's since last time, because we have been focusing mainly on creating areas not shown in this video, wave physics are cool though Smile

Update 21 # The Roguelike is nigh

Here comes a preview video of the upcoming roguelike. We want you guys to get to play the alpha/beta without spoiling too much of the main game, so we decided to give you the Roguelike and hopefully we will get valuable feedback from that!

We have been working our asses off, second and guessing our decisions and making the best of our crazily ambitious goals.

We are in Beta right now, at least when it comes to gameplay. our audio has been delayed though.

we're hoping on releasing the game in early february, Still not written in stone. which also means that all the survey stuff will be postponed as well.

Since we updated you guys quite a while ago, Here is a video showing off some of the stuff we have been working on.

Uh well, played for ~30min.

The game doesn't really pick my interest.

- It's a very simplified mix of Zelda and the Lego games.
- Only a handful of crafting possible.
- The graphics look rather muddy and too bloomy.
- Movement animations are simplistic. Faces don't have any mimic in dialogues.
- No voiceovers.

Those things sadly make the game look like a lazy dev project. If at least the graphics had a clear look to it, it wouldn't be so bad.
Uninstalled again.

Length is apparently around 10 hours, bit longer if you go for secrets.

EDIT: Out on Steam now but eh the GOG version has no DRM at all and should be what the above release is so why not get that instead of waiting for a release of the Steam version.

Because you often have to repair things with ressources in the same way as the Lego games.
Like a broken fence, "repairing" a hurt person, etc.

Also ressources just lie around.

My initial impression pretty much matches Bob's; visuals are pretty damned bad, animations are poor, little to no VA of any kind outside minor cutscenes, sound effects are bad, music is minimal at best, physics are wonky, crafting is basic... but for reasons I can't quite grasp.. it's really growing on me. I don't know why but there's something rather charming about the game. It's definitely a budget project through and through but there's some cutesy humour and a seemingly enormous world to explore. Anyway, I've constructed a raft and I'm sailing the ocean exploring islands. I'll keep playing and see if I still enjoy or whether I abandon Smile

Typical Unity shit-ass performance in certain areas though.

I feel similarly. I can't believe they didn't at least have the text fade in with noise per letter or have the characters make random sounds to indicate they are talking. There are so many little things like this and yet, I still like it. Razz
