X2 was outstanding IMO, it got me hooked for months because there is so much to do and it never ends.
I really can't wait fo this, it's much better than Freelancer in terms of depth.

I hope you are kidding. How the hell are they going to port a decent Privateer/Elite game to a console with only a gamepad to play with? And no cockpits??!!! They can go fuck themselves.

your quite correct, no cockpits on the 'Console version' but the pc version will have, whats your problem?

Nah, seriously I think its a bad idea to cut the cockpits because the game will lose a lot of atmosphere and might appear like an arcade shooter.

Can't say I'm not dissapointed, but one of the best space-sim games, Freespace 2, didn't have cockpits. And it worked pretty well.

People canceling their preorders because no cockpits? HUH? Maybe next time instead of making a game, egosoft should just make a picture slideshow of different cockpits!

Maybe they're cancelling preorders because they feel that no cockpits means the game has been dumbed down even more than expected for consoles. If it's just because of the cockpits, then yea, it's kind of silly.
Although I don't see why they removed them entirely instead of just having a toggle... that's a pretty retarded design decision.

what the hell?? I saw the screenshots for the cockpits and I thought to myself "FINALLY! Someone is actually making a space game and really putting effort into simming the whole running a ship feeling".
I swear to fucking god you don't hear flight simmers bitching because the cockpit on their p52 mustang hinders their view of things underneath them. And the cockpits are actually functional! What the hell do we have to do to get functional cockpits that we can use to control our space ships instead of stupid menu and sub menu interfaces??
What a bloody piss off. I went from wanting this game so bad I was prepared to rob a best buy when the delivery truck arrives to not even wanting to dl this shit. Though I will still try it, this indeed pisses me off.

Not much of an issue in a space action game, but in a space sim it is a big thing because sims are all about immersion, how can you be immersed in the game when all you have is an arcade looking HUD.

I would love to see MS release FS20XX without cockpits, that would be a lark
I realise it may seem trivial, but even games like Mechwarrior include cockpits. Granted I've also played EVE, and the excuse for no cockpits is that the pilot is in a stasis pod neurally linked to the ships systems. It does effect immersion, and I really wish a game like X3 would have cockpits. Is this not a feature that's been in previous X games? This is akin to AoE3 not including attack height bonus. Sure you don't need extra damage numbers floating around, but it adds to the experience. Taking a feature like this out of the game tells me the developers are lazy, or the matrial is rushed, or they are incompetant. Subsequently, releasing this feature in a future patch would go a long way to appease space sim fans.
It's dissapointing, but hey they work in a competitive environment. It's not like I can't install Bridge Commander instead of buying X3.

MS 2D cockpits in FS200X totally sux! the're allways the same...(GFX Wise i mean)
ms really needs to improve them once in a decade
