Seems like it's a 10gb download, plus it requires a further 12 or so gb spare, to patch files.
Edit:
12gb seems a slight over-exaggeration on my part. Probably closer to the 10gb that the actual patch is.
Edit 2:
Yup. Almost exactly 21gb required total.

It's ok though, no doubt the crazed fanbois over at RSI Forums will forgive them - after all, the sheer fact they allowed downloads must surely be enough to exonerate them of all doubt.
It may crash on every other attempted game start, but it's a design feature, to protect players from themselves.
And anyway, they need nothing more than to watch their pilot flipping their helmet over and over again.

Everyone wanted Arena Commander. Now we have it. Nobody said maps are part of the deal. Jeez, some people just live to complain.

By the way, it seems they've fixed it now.
Let the Hump whining over trivial stuff commence!
I'll be enjoying the irrational bullshit as always.

Yeah, I'm dying to hear about the performance problems with a pre-alpha game that's designed to push PC hardware to the limit.

@no9999
For now, single screen. Until manufacturers put out monitors with no bezel, I'll always feel uncomfortable with multiple screens, the "split" from the bezels is just clunky.
@mahoney1
Nope, not offended.. except when you pull the "lolol Hump children, loolololol my game is perfect lololol" nonsense. Though not even offended then, just amused.

@sabin1981
Well I never wrote the game is perfect, I haven't played it yet.
Also it was a joke, I find it to be like this not just in this thread. I'm not saying the hump is bad or it should change, I just find the extreme mood swings of some threads funny.

That's really, really sad. |
Biggest non-publisher controlled game "ever" that has so far been a huge disappointment to quite a lot of people, whose voices are sadly drowned out and berated by the Chris Roberts Defence Force for Chris Roberts by Chris Roberts for Chris Roberts.
Everything was exciting and impressive... at first. Then came the grandiose promises, the pointless and stupid "module" system that has been nothing but a joke so far, the rabid fanboys preventing any discourse about any facet of development or design that isn't ego-stroking and Yes-Man'ing. The lousy performance of the hangar module (a goddamn tiny box cripples PCs and what do you do? CHEER.) The nonsense g-force blackouts. The massive commercialisation where everything can be bought (oh but I'm totally sure it's only for development funds, it won't carry over into the retail game.. honest! totes!), the microtransaction bullshit, the charging for additional character slots (no, I will not get over it.) and then the fact that BASIC functionality like.. oh I don't know... a flying model.. couldn't even survive a 20 minute presentation.
Wow.
If the game comes out and it's everything they promised (and as for someone that claims to have knowledge of the history of the gaming industry, I'm rather shocked and worried you gloss over Chris Roberts unfulfilled goals and promises in the past .. though I'm completely sure that was everyone else's fault but Chris Roberts), if it runs well enough without requiring me to mortgage my home in order to buy equipment powerful enough to live up to their "artistic vision", if I can play offline completely without any nonsense limitations, if they don't keep shoving microtransactions and small "costs" because "Servers cost money, lolz!", if they provide the ability to run our own servers as promised, if if if if if... then yeah, I might concede that you have a point, but for now? You'll excuse me if I'm not jumping for joy at another delay, or a broken promise, or the fear of yet more fanboy pandering (WOO HELMET!), or the lovely experience of sub30fps.

How many games sounded like shit during pre-release and ended up being pretty good? Quite a few?
How many games sounded like godsends during pre-release and ended up being massively disappointing? Thousands?
It's really not that hard to understand why some threads have "extreme mood swings", PC gamers are - in my experience - a largely pessimistic lot because we're constantly 2nd and 3rd best, treated as afterthoughts. Star Citizen sounded great at the start and, on paper, it still sounds great - but nothing about it has BEEN great in practice. Except the helmet animation and the pilot blackouts. Amazing stuff, srsly.

Disappointment based on what, exactly? There's nothing there to even base it on - nor was it ever meant to be a game done quickly.

Yes, a pre-alpha game meant to push your hardware to the limit isn't running smoothly. That's terrible
Yeah, the fanboys are drowning you out - especially here on the hump where the whiners outweigh the "fanboys" 10 to 1.
As for how they're adding additional funding, that's something they took a vote on - and the VAST majority agreed they should keep adding goals. Charging for additional stuff that has no real bearing on your enjoyment? They should just keep that huge game running without additional profit, right? Just ignore the whole paycheck issue and stop working on the game, yeah.
Oh, and a presentation that was launched too early - now that's a real tragedy. It's not like it's happened a million times before to big shot companies, including Apple and Microsoft.
It's catastrophising based on nothing at all.

You mean goals that people confused with a real set-in-stone promise? Oh, and broken deadlines is 100% par for the course with every single ambitious project out there. You know it and I know it.
If you expect this game to be flawless and not have broken promises because it's crowd-funded, you're being silly. They're not making promises to deceive you - do you really think so?
They have a MUCH larger budget than they expected to have, based on the funding model that ~82% of the fans voted for.
Should they NOT try and make the game as good as possible? Should they not try to push the limit? I don't agree.
Of course it won't deliver everything it promises. It's incredibly ambitious. Even an unambitious game is likely to have broken promises and half-assed features.
Expecting this to be different is a strange position.

If it counts for something I'm glad that some attempts at innovation and real work is finally being done to forward this genre of gaming. Its been pretty abandoned since the 90s, and guess what, thanks to I guess both Elite and Star Citizen we see a lot more space/sci-fi'ish type of games in media lately, sadly a lot of those are low budget and therefor usually pretty bad, but still!
If both games end up being terrible at least they might have jump-started first-person spaceship gaming again.

I promise every single one of you that I'll gladly admit I was being a naive moron if this turns out to be a bad game.
Do I think it will be great? Yes, I really do. Fantastic? Maybe. Perfect? No.
But it's the most exciting game in development right now, for me - personally.
