I love most of Terry Gilliam stuff, especially 12 Monkeys, and this has such a 12 monkeys vibe.

Will watch it for Gilliam but it doesn't get any good reviews from critics.

The trailer gives me City of the Lost Children vibes, a movie I couldn't stand for longer than 10 minutes. But this is Gilliam, he has never disappointed (somewhat Razz ). Gonna watch tonight Very Happy

tideland was wrong... about a sexually abused little girl going through the motions... Neutral felt uncomfortable throughout the whole movie. couldn't finish it.

Liked it, a lot. More than Tideland, it's more generally consistent and I like the (philosophical) questions it raises a lot more. Tideland is an emotionally very heavy movie (at least for me it was), just sadness throughout without a glimpse of hope or even humour.

The Zero Theorem is not as dark, although once it's over, you realise it's still very bleak. But the typical Gilliam jokes, like the mouses picking up the scraps or Management's camo-suits, are good to make it not too heavy.

The trailer doesn't do it justice (again). It's not a fast paced movie at all. The story behind is very universal, and the ending, although sad, is perfect. No one in Hollywood would dare to go that way these days.

When a Terry Gilliam movie gets bashed by the masses, I know it's a good movie. I remember watching Fear & Loathing in the theatre, and after 10 minutes in my friend and I were the only people left Very Happy

Well, I watched it, and while I greatly enjoyed the visual style and overall tone, it was indeed a complete mind fuck just as expected. I'll give it another watch in a few weeks, but I'm doubtful I'll ever be able to wrap my head around it all. It's like one giant nightmare!

Yep I agree, perfectly summarized. Razz It's a very intriguing* movie that has several interesting ideas and developments (imo), as long as you don't expect another Brazil, because that one was a masterpiece Very Happy

*purposely confusing (not always, though)
