Im halfway through with my medical training and now Im thinking on where should I go for my medical residency. Im particularly interested in norway and sweden, but Im finding it hard to decide between the two. Norway seems a bit more awesome, but the living costs seem higher and getting to a residency program there seems harder for a non-norwegian than for a non-swede in sweden. Which country is more awesomer? ;D

Sweden, they actively look for medical people all over Europe. Living costs is lower (but willing to bet the pay is as well, but you can save up more if you are strict).
For me Sweden is already hard enough on me for accessibility towards anything, and my perception Norway is even tougher on that part.
Language is very similar at least, I can understand Norwegians as much as Swedes (And I'm only living 1,5 year in Sweden).
In terms of Awesomeness I wouldn't go for any of them (Tho if you live in a big city it's totally different). Check up on Kalmar btw, they were recruiting quite heavily for medical personnel in Belgium, but if you can: just go for the big cities

Whats wrong with smaller sized cities in scandinavia? I mean like 50k people cities.

Not much to do, goods are harder to get, everything is lower priority. If you need specific services that usually will cost you at least a 2 hour drive (Do mind I'm more whiny on that since I come from Belgium ).
I'm talking of Sweden btw, and this is in the eyes of a foreigner
I do love that you can easily follow classes to learn the language and it's free

Well it's rather easy to explain that: If you hop borders you earn more, just like Norwegians hopping borders to shop: they save more. Or should I think Swedish stores are better because of that?
Willing to bet life isn't THAT different when you compare the both.

I'd say Norway. Try to aim for proximity to the swedish border and you can just have a trip to Sweden whenever you need to stock up on food and such stuff.

If you're going for Norway, stay away from the big cities.
Go for the smaller ones (20-30k people or less). Big cities in Norway are shit.
As for what deelix said, not really true.
Good luck finding a norwegian over the age of 14 who doesnt get piss drunk every weekend.
Might be expensive, but getting your hands on homebrew/illegal/smuggled is as easy as going to the shop.
As for which country to choose, that really just depends on taste.
Salary will be higher in Norway, but so will living costs. But if you stay in the smaller places, it's cheaper. You can rent a whole house for less than 5k NOK/month.
I hate you.

My sister rented various houses in this district, and for 4k she got a old house. Not good for winter, since it's wasnt the best insulated house.
For 5k she got a newer, nicer house with a big lot and down by the ocean.
Was a really nice place.
But just 20 min away in bigger city you pay 8-20k to rent, and thats for apartment, not house.
I hate you.

It's fun to be white, not Eastern and foreigner in Sweden, Swedes whine to you about them damn foreigners!
Then you say: I'm a foreigner.
And the response I get is: Yeah, but you're one of the good ones.
Still haven't figured out what the criteria is for those
