This has been a long running issue over multiple PCs and it's pissing me off more and more.
I set wallpapers in either PNG, JPG, even BMP format and after a while they will appear to have been compressed. I'm guessing it's because when you sync desktops, setting, wallpapers and so on that it would rather use a smaller file. So I have this:
Well, figured out how to deal with Windows re-compressing the image after replacing the cached file with the original. Just had to remove the user accounts write access to the folder "CachedFile" and file "TranscodedWallpaper". This is all located in AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Themes
