lumpyhead thats prolly because most people are idiots running 5 year old drivers, or the absolute newest without any idea of preformance on the different ones, and having the game completely maxed out with soft shadows and 8s AA 18x AF at 1600x1200, i know how people can be..
Then again, it may just be needing a new nvidia driver, no biggie =)

It's clear now. I think this thing becomes a trend now. A game is launched with bugs intentionally, so that a couple of patches will follow(or even preceed the game itself in some cases) immediately after, with minor upgrades in protection programs with blacklisting, so it's harder and harder to brake the code for one game 2-3 times in a matter of days. It's happened with Silent Hunter 3, it's happening again now. The initial release plays awfull, and then 2 patches launched almost simoultaneous with the game repairs that. It makes me wonder why they didn't observed that behaviour before it went gold (i understood it underwent quite a few betatesting)

It aint some kind of undercover anti-piracy method ady5, its simply because they set the release date, the publisher pushed it forward, and its better to have the game mass-produced and shipped for sale today, along with a patch also today, than stalling the entire manufacturing lines for the patch to be completed. Really.

Just a question, before you patched the game did sfcure work also fine? The reason I ask this is because I read on the Protection Bitch'n forum that in Russia they made a working clone of a game protected with StarForce version 3.7.11.00. The only extra thing they needed to do was setting the speed of the virtual drives to 1x by using Nero DriveSpeed. And we know that before the patch X3 only used SF version 3.6.10.6. So I assume that sfcure should work fine with X3, even without patching the game. |
I could not get it to work before, may have been a prob with sfn, though i'm not sure, besides the game stuttered at my computer so i needed the patch.

Apparently though, the patch that they released today greatly improved the performance of the game. Most people on the egosoft forums said almost all of their issues were solved. Either way I'm crossing my fingers that someone out there is eventually kind enough to make an image and upload it to a tracker...especially since they said sfcure works after the patch. While we probably wont see a release for awhile still, I can hope.

A say again for some ppl: in patch 1.2 starforce 3.5.10.6!
About starforce 3.7.11.0: sfcure not work on this version! And usb method don't work! Only when mount mini image into dt 3.47 and select speed for this driver 1x in nero cd/dvd speed. Its need for enables emulation in dt. In new sf 3.7.11.0 sectors read in other order.
Read about sf 3.6 and 3.7 here: http://www.cdsteam.net/modules/news/
