Weird.

If I let nVidia drivers at default I am locked at 30fps in menu AND ingame.
I had to switch to "adaptive" vSync to reach 60fps.

Scratch Head

Anyway I can't drive without proper FFB.
I will wait for an update or for my G27 to come.

Well, I'm here now, I'm gonna play a bit and get used to it again, poke me on Steam when ready Very Happy

I can't remember what we had to do last year, did we have to use any tools for it?

Edit: okay, Milestone strikes again Laughing

First I am now also struck with the V-sync issue. Time to see if Adaptive V-Sync helps. Disabling it outright doesn't solve shit, at 80 FPS it stutters like hell

And then the sound disappeared entirely after completing a rally Neutral

Damn it. Razz I fixed my random freezes and stuttering by disabling vsync from the launcher and enabling it from Nvidia's control panel (I turned on the triple buffering as well). With vsync disabled is nearly unplayable for me too, very strange issue Very Happy

I have weird frame-rate issues on Mexico Quick Stages. Because the selection of the Quick Stage is random, I can't test it, but is anyone else having issues with some stages but not others? The frame-rate's almost single-digits. Sad

Funny thing is that the PC patch is officially available at http://wrcthegame.com which is a rare thing to see in the PC gaming scene nowadays.

However, even after the patch, the game is a buggy clusterfuck, with force-closes, inability to connect to lobbies and the game getting stuck on in-game messages like "Updating Leaderboards" upon completion of any rally stage, resulting in having to quit the game and losing 800 experience points due to piss-poor game development and lack of quality control

Talk about pathetic shit.

From what I have heard, the developers have slightly shortened the career apparently due to complaints regarding lower-level rally championships (WRC 2/WRC 3/Junior WRC) "being a drag".

That said, the career layout is still fundamentally the same as its predecessors (sans the very minor adjustments) so if you felt that WRC 3's career is lacklustre then WRC 4 is not much different and the same goes for the annual copy-pasta gameplay which to me feels like a bastardised hybrid between V-Rally 2 and RalliSport Challenge but sadly, considering that nobody seems to bother producing point-to-point rallying games other than Milestone S.r.l. (excluding DiRT 3 but that's just a faux-American farce to me), you and I are effectively stuck with the Milestone-developed WRC series.

In short: if you're dying for a rally game and you can grab it at a reduced price then buy it but at the standard price of approximately £34.99 it isn't really worth it.

Agree about the music, sounds like a nice mix between Terminator and Games of thrones theme.

LMAO go go go - hairpin right onto hairpin left followed by hairpin right then hairpin left followed by hairpin right, handbrake then hairpin right then hairpin left, handbrake then hairpin right, followed by hairpin left into hairpin right - FINISH (Nicky Grist or Derek Ringer would probably drop dead if they had to deal with so many hairpins in one track)

Oh and speaking of hairpins, I actually tried to cut through them only for the game to reset my car position - those bastards, oh and I forgot, I don't remember seeing those many hairpins in Evolution Studios' WRC games haha.

Real tracks are nowhere as hairpin'd as the virtual ones, the devs probably did it because fans wanted something completely different from Dirt and its wide straight roads. Though they went a bit too far Laughing

Haha then how did this game get a "full-on" WRC licence? That would be like Konami coming up comically bad soccer team names and logos like Man Blue hahaha - oh wait, they already do that. In addition to that, some people on teh Interwebz are saying that the game track count is artificially inflated by reversing and tweaking track layouts without adding additional assets to make the tracks for each country different enough but I am not sure if that is true.

Also, has anyone noticed encountered a login problem whereby they get this message:

"Login failed. The profile nickname was wrong or invalid. Please insert a correct nickname"

...even though the RakNet account check says "Validation successful" when going to the Network tab and checking your login credentials before you actually start up the game? Gosh that game is a fucking broken mess.

Update: Looks like this is happening to everyone who are trying to play the game online: http://steamcommunity.com/app/256330

Milestone are famous for spending all their money on licenses (WRC, Superbike, MotoGP, Motocross), instead of actually investing it into a new proper engine or important features. Cool Face They're also the masters of recycling and reskinning Very Happy
The fact about layers being repeated is true and it happened in the previous games too. Different stages are often just variants of the same track, but it's not too annoying since they nailed the handling at least.

True but still, it is pathetic and somewhat inexcusable to unjustifiably create MINOR variants of the same track and pass it off as another track from another city or place - no wonder their games are stuck in the 60s on a Metacritic level.

However, for those who wanna play online: it SHOULD work now.
