Just got the Geforce GTX 980 Zotac version.
I'm wondering if anyone has experience with installing it? It seems the LED's on the card aren't working correctly.

Thanks

Apparently lol. Nothing I've seen so I'm unsure if I'm missing something in the install to get them to work.

@freiwald

The "Geforce GTX" logo on top of the card lights up green when the machine is on Smile

@Furio655

There's no software needed, the Experience stuff is just to tweaking or disabling the LED, the card should light up the logo by default as soon as it receives power.

I appreciate the help. The logo isn't lighting up. This is how I have it hooked up.

Does anyone see any reason as to why my video card could be hooked up incorrectly?

Have you tried enabling it using Zotac's Firestorm utility?

(I read in some reviews that there are LED options)

Well, if the LED's are not working, you also lose 24fps across most games.

Same issue with my Ion and my StormTrooper case.. the damned camera is *too* good and it ends up picking up every spec of dust imaginable. There's just no way to keep any system 100% dust free, it's impossible unless you use some kind of repellent spray.

So it's working now? Smile

No, I don't believe it is working.

It seems as if I am supposed to be able to change the colours and their patterns but no lights are working at all on the card itself.

I could careless about the lights but what concerns me is the possibility of the card being hooked up incorrectly.

i read a review 2 weeks ago i think :
http://techreport.com/review/27176/geforce-gtx-980-cards-from-gigabyte-and-zotac-reviewed

Despite the obvious excess, the Omega retains something of a stately look, at least around front. There aren't any illuminated logos or other such bling. The only LEDs present are basic power indicators on the back of the card.

power indicators are not on ?

Thanks frogster and no, no power indicators are constantly on.

I'm not from USA, you could've seen that with how I spelt colour.

My issue was never with flashing LED's or the lack of but with the possibility that I hooked it up incorrectly and possibly damaging a $700 card.

I appreciate the help and sarcasm Very Happy

you canot plug power connectors wrong. unless you are forcing them.

constantly ?
well, leaving led's aside, card works or not ?
anyway, i would test it with another psu, and if is still not working, i would returnit. if it works fine led's aside, i would be on the edge, but i will probably return it anway. if i pay that much, i want it to be top shape. and i would not buy zotac Smile.

If you're bothered by it: return it, it might just be the led not working.
Personally I'd always turn it off, but it should work.

Can't do much wrong with GPU installments so you most likely haven't done anything wrong.

Card works beautifully, no issues there. It's the missing lights that I'm worried about.

I went from ATI; sapphire 4870 (crashed) to diamond 6870 which I just sent in for an RMA.
I decided to try nvidia and saw 980 GTX Zotac so decided to try it out.

My games no longer crash after 10 minutes which was my main goal in buying this card.

Regardless, I'm using my 6870's pci wires so as long as they don't cause harm, I am happy.

PCI express cables? Do you think goodwill and faith powers a GPU? Try scissoring open a PCI-e cable and you'll see how many wires that sprout out...

Ok the cables, fucking linguistic games.
Jealously, so high school.

The card's LED illuminates red when I start up however I haven't had any other issues.
This is my first nvidia card and I wanted to make sure I wasn't missing any connection.

It could be that you need to rig a bypass circuit?, as the centrifugal latitude from the led's may be keeping the draw from the power source at bay.

I'd open a Facebook account, right away.
