17.8GB download here, but most likely decompresses to 28.6GB - which also means that JP language isn't an optional download but rather included in the main game. This won't please those that complained about the large downloads grinhurt Still, even half that of 14GB with just English would mean it's DOUBLE the size of the 360 version - I'm liking the sound of that increased texture resolution Very Happy

So basically there is some sort of summary of what happened in XIII in XIII-2, right?
I finally hit the open world part of XIII about a month ago and I don't see myself ever finishing this game.
I'd love uninstalling this game and making room on my system drive for the next one which is supposedly better.

The funny thing is, you're closer to the end than you are the middle or beginning. If you're on Gran Pulse you might as well push through and finish it.. no point sinking 20+ hours into a game and then abandoning. As for summary, yes, there's a "story so far" that covers *everything* Smile

It does, no?
(Seeing as XIII_2 comes out on the 11th as well probably when the Steam front page updates which is probably when XIII gets patched as well, heh I was hoping it would be available in advance.)

EDIT: Corrected the text a bit.

It's weird because I could have sworn they said the XIII patch would be available one day before XIII-2 launches, but now I can't find anything about it Sad

Preloadin' Mr. Green
If my memory serves me right the game files were around 4GB on the console. The 360 had crap videos to fit one disc while the PS3 verrsion is 14GB, japanese PS3 version is also 14GB - same quality.
So while the download does include both languages we still have a few extra GB left if it decompressed to 28.5 since not all data is simply doubled. They never mentioned higher resolution textures but who knows, we'll see soon.
Maybe they finally added a walk button for KB+M into XIII-2 while XIII still needs a cheat engine script for that Laughing

edit: ok fuck it. The Japan/Asia package preload is 12.9GB, while our NE with both languages is 17.8. I'll lower my hopes to 0 now, probably no extras in this PC release...

Finished FF XIII yesterday night, turns out I was only about a hour away from the ending. Razz

The boss was pretty weird but I guess that's nothing new for these games, ending was pretty neat too.

XIII "update" is now out Smile Has a massive amount of resolution options also has a shadowmap size and anti-aliasing selection .. but this is from the launcher, not the game itself, so their claim of "adjustable visual options!" is fairly cheat'y.

It looks great though, they really did improve the shadows and aliasing *dramatically*, still runs locked fluid 60 even at 1080 with 8k shadowmap and 16xMSAA. Performance *seems* a bit more stable too, less of the random stuttering and dropping, but that could be placebo or it could be fixes, I don't know. Also, again could be placebo, but text seems a lot nicer too.. less "bitty" and more smooth.

I never had any of that so I can't really comment on it, sorry. Stuff like "opening area mini-map drops framerate" never happened to me :\ I'm uploading a bunch of images now, will post when they're done.

i didn't have slow downs either (unless downscaling from very high res), but there were many of those who did. looks great and UI isn't pixelated. now if only they made cutscenes PS3 quality or better, but i guess that's never happening.

I'm really surprised by the UI smoothness. It seems that, unlike GeDoSaTo, the *native* resolution options have really helped with text and UI panels. The area map still looks like ass, really jagged and unpleasant, but the rest looks really nice. It would be awesome to get the PS3 (or better...) but yeah, that's never happening Sad

Actually this game continues to confuse me - never 60fps, but CPU and GPU usage are like less than 40% Neutral

Same here, 45-50% GPU and 25-30% CPU, yet it's still 60 all the time. Game has some VERY strange utilisation issues for a lot of people it seems.

Some dude on Steam has an i7 and a 780, struggles to sustain 30. I've got an i5 and a 780 and it's perfect. Something is wrong somewhere. It's not hardware, cannot be, so it's something else .. something else interfering?

The RU copies are region locked, so I don't know any unlocked places that would be cheap. Maybe if you could get one from the Mexican store? 155 Pesos works out at $10, which is the cheapest non-RUS/CIS copy from Steam at least.

@topic

Can someone please upload a mid-game save file? Perhaps something around the Nautilus area with Sazh and Vanille? I want to check performance in so-called trouble spots.

C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\SquareEnix\FinalFantasyXIII\save\FF13-xx.dat

Thanks!
