So basically there is some sort of summary of what happened in XIII in XIII-2, right?
I finally hit the open world part of XIII about a month ago and I don't see myself ever finishing this game.
I'd love uninstalling this game and making room on my system drive for the next one which is supposedly better.

Oh, right. Though it was going live along with Final Corridor 13-2.

It does, no?
(Seeing as XIII_2 comes out on the 11th as well probably when the Steam front page updates which is probably when XIII gets patched as well, heh I was hoping it would be available in advance.)
EDIT: Corrected the text a bit.

Finished FF XIII yesterday night, turns out I was only about a hour away from the ending.
The boss was pretty weird but I guess that's nothing new for these games, ending was pretty neat too.
Spoiler: |
Although having Cocoon surrounded by a sea of spiky crystals seems like it would be hazardous for all life there, no wonder they moved down to the surface instead.)
Although I hear the crystal will crack eventually in Lighting Returns so I guess it was only a "temporal" fix at best, well some 500 years in the future when LR takes place.
(And I guess I won't see more of Fang and Vanille either seeing how they're stuck embracing one another like that, heh.)

XIII "update" is now out Has a massive amount of resolution options also has a shadowmap size and anti-aliasing selection .. but this is from the launcher, not the game itself, so their claim of "adjustable visual options!" is fairly cheat'y.
It looks great though, they really did improve the shadows and aliasing *dramatically*, still runs locked fluid 60 even at 1080 with 8k shadowmap and 16xMSAA. Performance *seems* a bit more stable too, less of the random stuttering and dropping, but that could be placebo or it could be fixes, I don't know. Also, again could be placebo, but text seems a lot nicer too.. less "bitty" and more smooth.

I never had any of that so I can't really comment on it, sorry. Stuff like "opening area mini-map drops framerate" never happened to me :\ I'm uploading a bunch of images now, will post when they're done.

i didn't have slow downs either (unless downscaling from very high res), but there were many of those who did. looks great and UI isn't pixelated. now if only they made cutscenes PS3 quality or better, but i guess that's never happening.

Actually this game continues to confuse me - never 60fps, but CPU and GPU usage are like less than 40%

Same here, 45-50% GPU and 25-30% CPU, yet it's still 60 all the time. Game has some VERY strange utilisation issues for a lot of people it seems.
