STRAFE ® is a unique singleplayer 3D action experience where the player can pick up a gun and shoot hordes of things in the face. Sounds crazy right? WELL IT GETS CRAZIER, WE PUT YOU IN THE EYES OF A DIGITAL PERSON! YUP, RIGHT BEHIND THE GUN.
We've created groundbreaking technology that changes the levels everytime you play for endless replayability! There are BILLIONS of experiences to be had with crazy secrets to find! We give you the levels, you paint them red.
Story:
It’s your yearly scrapping mission, but this year is different. Your humble scout ship has been recruited to join the massive spacecraft ICARUS. They plan to head to far edge of the galaxy, to a remote sector where other scrappers have not yet dared to venture.
The rewards could be unimaginable. But so are the risks. It may be unexplored space, but it’s a gamble you know you must take.
You lost.
You return from a run empty handed, but worse, ICARUS is no where to be found. You check your coordinates. You try the coms. No answer from your comrades on ICARUS. Yet their teleporter appears in-range and responsive.
So you grab a gun “just in case” and teleport onto ICARUS. What could go wrong?

this just makes me wish we had SOF2-type of gore in modern day shooters, kinda fed up with this indiepikselsZOMG artstyle
Indeed, how I wish they made a SoF 3.
(You know why that poker face is there, so don't mention it!)
*joins the circle of the SoF nostalgics*
Now when you play a military shooter, all you have are wonky semi-static ragdolls, bouncing bullets, fake dramatic predefined animations, giant crosshairs and XP points everywhere. Not to mention cinematics, but that's another story. Fuckyearicanism, the (fake) politically correct type xD
edit: the video is awesome, the concept...eh not much to be honest.

I'm tired of "we can't be bothered to hire a proper pixel artist so we'll just smack some crap together" as attitude to how an indie game should look. If you look at the footage, the game looks horribly stale. If you compare it to Doom which had gorgeous assets, this falls flat on its face. If you wanna go retro, do it properly and not the B-movie equivalent with a shoe string budget.
God, I forgot about the level generation ... that's alone guarantees the game will be shit. The procedural generated games trend just need to die as far as I'm concerned - perhaps 1% uses it properly (read: Minecraft) and the rest just use it because they're too lazy to design proper levels or weapons or whatever. Random does NOT equal good - random equals dull, average, generic.
Here’s a little video of the new system in action. Of course STRAFE® is a dangerous place with blood and guts that don’t fade away but it just got a whole lot worse. We wanted the blood maps to effect gameplay not just be a cool aesthetic choice. Yes the blood and guts can be used as a breadcrumb trail but now they become level hazards.
There are a couple enemies in STRAFE® that bleed glowing acid instead of blood. These enemies must be disposed of in a way that doesn’t cover you in their dangerous juices. In a state of panic if the player doesn’t dispose of the enemies efficiently they could find themselves in a corner with a sea of acid on the floor not able to pass through unscathed.
…But if you pop the head off a glutton or can get blood to land over it you can create a safe path through a danger zone.
The gameplay in this video is pre-alpha. What does that mean?
• Not all of the art is final, there are some placeholder textures, models, etc.
• Not all of the enemies are in yet, and their systems are incomplete
• STRAFE® has yet to be balanced
• The economy and monster closets have yet to be fully implemented

Damn, ya I'm pretty much skip all open world and randomized [anything] games now.. i just don't have any fun playing them.
They recently put out a VR feedback demo.
The game concept is wildly incompatible with VR in general but it's still not the worst implementation in the world.
Still not playable for extended periods.
YOU KIDNAPPED OUR LEAD PROGRAMMER AND HELD HIM AT GUNPOINT UNTIL HE RELEASED A BROKEN STRAFE® BUILD.
WE PULLED OUT A RAILGUN AND EXPLODED YOUR SKULL IN SELF DEFENSE.
AND THEN RELEASED A BROKEN STRAFE® BUILD AFTER JUST TO SPITE YOU.
So here it is, world. A small sign of things to come for STRAFE®. The SPEED RUN with high score tracking!
That means it’s pre-Alpha, BROKEN and not representative of the final game. It was custom built in days to get into the hands of streamers. The overwhelming positive response encouraged us to release it to the public. BUT this is A TINY FRACTION and modified version of STRAFE® that lacks most final features likes:
Custom options (inverted mouse, FOV/visor/gun sliders, etc)
Procedural level generation
Finished enemy AI and pathfinding
Secrets
A ton of things, you get the idea
We love what we’ve seen. But unfortunately it might not run on your particular computer right now. It might have major bugs, like enemies literally dancing for death. It might begin WWIII after your computer is mistaken on radar for a nuclear warhead. And if you don’t remember Doom’s elevator lifts, you might get stuck and not know how to move forward. Press E toward the ground, damn it.
