actually people have already posted previews from the pc version online, played with an xbox controller, and the pop-in is very obvious there too
Unsurprising really. I suspect a good chunk of the reasoning for the downgrade is less about platform parity and more about the engine simply not being up to the task of handling an open world game.
what i noticed about some ps4 videos, there is a strange kind of lod in place where the lighting is only active in places if the light source is in direct view.
so if you are looking at a lamp during night time, the surrounding area will be illuminated, if you turn the camera so that the lamp isnt in plain view anymore, the illumination of that area is suddenly gone and its dark.
what. the. fuck.
The lighting seems to be failing in some of the darker scenes, making it look... "flatter"... for lack of a better word - it's not the first game I saw it happen in, to be honest. In a sense it really is the time of day that changes the graphics But seriously, other than that, the game looks really good. Not trailer-level good, sure, but very good nonetheless. I'm digging what I see on that video very much - altought it's clear as day the PS4 is struggling, fighting for it's survival
*edit*
And the stealing stuff part is idiotic. I really wish they learned from their mistakes on that front.

Oh is it ? Using a binary system to separate those caring and not caring for the downgrade, and putting myself in the latter - I do aknowledge, but don't really care.
But the former crowd, those who 'care', seem not only to have their woes acknowledged, but also to ridicule CDP. Those 10s and 9s have to be bribed "cuz da gfx suxxxx... 4/10"
I know when you shell out thousands of bucks on latest i7 and sli 980s with custom watercooling systems with PSU's that have enough power to sustain a medium sized african village, it might be dissapointing to see that it might not have that wow factor.
But us peasants went from "aw hell no, ain't this gonna run on mah rig, nah-ah" to "well maaaaybe I have a decent shot at this now". Until I bought cheap ass budget rig 2 months ago I was used to setting everything all low at 720p, sometimes even tuning it down even more in cfg files.
I did this on Dying light, where I played most of the slums in sub-30fps - and I still had a great time. Splinter Cell Blacklist ran like shit at minimum 720p, but still I remember it as one of the most fun games of 2013.
Ironically now I have the juice to play say - the original crysis at max settings, but I don't really want to anymore. At a certain age it struck me that either a game gets me hooked or doesnt. Graphics one way or the other.
Don't care if CDP are labelled sellouts, they are here to make a good game and make enough profit to make another good game. And if W3 runs decent on my PC then I'm grateful for that.
I am a little bit suprised people still expect PC version to be 10 times better looking than consoles, from so many pages in here nobody posted this interview from beginning of 2015 ?
[Are all the textures and models the same?
Yes, there is only one version, otherwise we wouldn’t be able to make the game in time. We would have to take it all apart, and then build it and test it on three different platforms at the same time, which is impossible to do. Therefore, we have one common basis, and then transfer it to other platforms.
We manage it differently on platforms with less memory. Less complex models are loaded; it all depends on what is going on on the screen at the moment. To sum up, there are only a few differences between PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. They are not aimed at changing the configuration; instead their purpose is to solve certain problems.
How can the PC version look exactly the same if it has ultra settings? I doubt the consoles are running on ultra.
Well, PS4 qualitiy is Ultra in this game
I'm more disappointed with the new graphic style then with texture quality. From dark, or better to say gray game/atmosphere they transformed it into happy, colorful fantasy game.

Because ultra on pc is the same as the best the consoles can handle, not the best that a pc can do, because console is the ideal quality cdpr set as it's target.

Well guys, remember that every Witcher game had an Enhanced Edition a year later, so I'm kinda expecting the same here, with updated graphics.
I'd be impressed if this time around we still get the update for free, given cdpr's change in developer "ethics". Will likely be sold as a full priced re-release.
Also, I don't think any witcher enhanced release has improved the graphics, just fixed animations (among other minor stuff). Can't imagine they'd start now.
PCGames.de gave it 90% but because they tested a pre-release version (on PS4 ) they assume that with the patch and some of the promised minor performance fixes they'd easily give it one or two points more, stating that the game is brilliant.

They abandoned all their ethics the moment next-get consoles were released.
