Same I'm hoping they have specced for next, or the gen after of GPUs to the current ones we have now. We need titles that push the envelope once in a while to keep hardware interesting...
Right now sli 980's = best fun u can have is to go apeshit with mods or massively down sample ultra hires on console port games.. What a waste.
Project Cars, for example, runs just fine on my setup. And that is hardly a low-key graphical affair.
Pushing the boundaries is always good - but you have to strike a balance with current tech so those that buy a game can, y'know, actually play it. It isn't 'the right way' to expect people to buy the top hardware EVERY time a new game comes out.
Learn to code within the bounderies of current tech. The way games are these days, longevity of a game is a matter of weeks, so having a game able to be pushed to the limit for years to come is pretty pointless. And games such as SC, well they way we're told, the game will be continually developed for decades to come, so they can just update things as hardware improves.
Like that will happen.

I didnt expect it to run good on my 2500K & 7870 anyway.
Well I'm sorry, but this is CryEngine 3. I absolutely expect and DEMAND that it runs on my 2500k and GTX780. It doesn't matter that they're "3 years old, hurr durr!" that that brainless gorm up there says, they are IMMENSELY powerful pieces of hardware and this game absolutely should not run poorly on them.
Star Citizen has seen a sizeable leak of unreleased resources to a few members of the public, after a community manager posted a partial URL in a screenshot. Someone guessed the rest and... well.
Around 48GB of work in progress assets have been acquired by — at least — a couple of people outside Cloud Imperium Games, and though the guessed link has now been shut down by CIG, the assets are Out There.
People have thus been loading the assets up in Cryengine, seeing as that's what Star Citizen is being made in, and looked around. This has resulted in things like this:
Apart from the obvious unfinished stuff, this all looks good. Which begs the question - why did they feel the need to keep all this from their paying backers?
I mean, there is some good stuff going on there, and yet many people have banged on about how little we've actually seen in terms of finished assets. Just look at the planet stuff in the 2nd vid - that looks pretty damn good, and yet apart from the limited racing crap, we've never really seen anything of it.
This 'leak' is probably going to garner more attention than the drip feed of 'buy me now' stuff they pop out every time the 'pledges' start decreasing.

Squadron 42 has changed somewhat, it's now part of a trilogy of games; all supposedly enormous "AAA" titles in their own right and partitioned into Episodes. Episode 1 is the full story and introduction to the Persistent Universe with Citizenship - you get 70 missions and they're voice acted and story-led. What used to be known as "Mission Disk" is actually now the full-fledged sequel to Squadron 42 and will be "Episode 2", this is free to all original/veteran backers that have "Mission Disk" listed in their game packages, and takes place after you've gained Citizenship and played in the Persistent Universe.
It seems Episode 3 is, right now, pay-for.. but there hasn't been much else said about it at the moment.
Well supposedly it looks like SQ42 is actually even bigger and better now, SQ42 was originally going to be around 50 missions but now Episode 1 alone is near 70 .. fully voiced too. Then we have the "sequel" for free as well. Of all the things I bitch about in regards to SC, this isn't one of them
For the next week every ship currently flyable in Arena Commander is unlocked for all backers! Just like all our Free Flight weeks it is a thank you, but also provides valuable testing. Here is the list of flyable ships:
Sadly it's all become rather meh for me. I was hoping for a massive sandbox experience with plots ect. in between but the longer this goes on the more scripted and mainstream it seems to get.
It saddens me greatly to see people debating whether the FPS element should feel like Battlefield or Farcry. It was never suppose to be like this.
Quote:
each one is the equivalent of a huge triple A "Call of Duty" or better because we have a much bigger campaign
sip74 the game isn't out yet, arena commander is just a pre-alpha playground really. It's not really the game just a few small levels with the game mechanics of space flight so that they can test various things tied to that. FPS (Star Marine) will be the same thing for the fps mechanics.
Not saying you can't be right, just saying come back in ~1 year or so and you should have enough of the game to judge that ppl should take you seriously.

That dub....man, I haven't laughed that fucking hard in a long time! Makes me glad I don't speak a lick of Spanish, otherwise it'd be ruined!
