This doesn't work on the main opponents though, you need pure luck for them. They have a bucketload of agent cards which give them 2 new cards at hand and they can rape you pretty fucking badly. |

So, i haven't played the game since the 1.04 patch. How is it? I've heard both good and bad. Better textures, worse fps and worse UI.

Generally I will use the card with the biggest number to begin with, make them combat it with something equally as high, then use decoy to get it back and purposely lose the first round. This way I still have all my cards and 2 rounds left, they don't. From there it's a mix of using higher level cards, screwing up whatever class of card I'm not using that the other is, and buffing the ones I do use. I always keep a Foltest clear weather card as a backup in case they try to screw me over in return.
I don't have many cards from anything but the default set yet, so I haven't been able to use any other faction's abilities :/ |
Well go figure like 19 out of 20 of my wins include a 1st round win. But I feel it's because of flaws in the A.I. It's relatively easy to make it "pass" when it feels falsely safe, though this depends on the cards it has. I just recently completed the minimum for the Scoia'tael deck, still missing like 3-4 for Monsters. I think I'll be playing Monsters frequently, cause I don't really like the Nilfgaard deck (still dunno why) and my Scoia'tael deck has too many low valued unit cards and still needs more hero cards (Iorveth I'm waiting for you) for it to be strong.

The strategy is same no? Win one round with as low number of strong cards as possible and force opponent to play as many strong cards he have in the round you lose on purpose and destroy in last round.
Also build strategy and don't put too many cards in main deck so you can get your best cards drawn every time.
Weather cards can be also used to kinda fake "pass" the ball to opponent.
My current starting deck is quite strong vs normal opponents i can make lots of points in any branch when i connect special abilities and special cards.
I'm very close to beat those special cards quests vs Baron and Novigrad guy - just need few more cards to further improve my links for strategies and will beat the shit out of them.

Personally I really appreciate the increase in texture sharpness (mostly because it fixes the god damn ugly foliage) but introduces slight simmering. Most notably on rooftops made out of hay.
That's also why there's a fps loss for some because of the increase in sharpness. The UI is really the same as before. They just made the loot box bigger but it's just as terrible (or good?) as previously.
However there's an increase in characters popping out of thin air now, which was something I barely experienced prior to the 1.04 patch.

So, if you're happy with the game with 1.03, it won't get any better with 1.04, but perhaps a bit worse.

Depends on how much you hate the cardboard foliage. It was one of the things that I despised so I'd rather have 1.04 than 1.03 but if it doesn't bother you then probably 1.03 is better.

I do want to try, but i don't have the best computer and chances are that saves are incompatible with 1.03 after trying 1.04

If you lower the texture resolution should be fine.
Basically what was previously Ultra now is High and so forth. You can also manually disable the sharpening in user.settings and that way you should be able to cancel out the fps hit.

You want White Raffard's Decoction, that's the only potion that gives instant health. Supposedly you can get it from the alchemist outside Oxenfurt.
|
I've found it during the first(ish) quest with Keira (in the Elven Ruins). Looted from one of the chests, but god know which - the location is pretty big.

I do. And I think it's completely retarded. It's due to debatable mechanics: attack by default the closest enemy. So:
- I prepare to attack a targeted mob in front of me (out of a group of enemies; NOT using lock-on)
- Half second passes
- I press attack
- Geralt chooses to attack some SIDE enemy that meanwhile has approached him even closer than the main enemy I was to attack...
That's just fking awful. There is ONE important thing for me when I play such type of games: and that's control. Take away control from me and I lose fun and motivation to play.
BUT, thankfully, I think, there seems to be a fix for this, using the directional keys (a la Batman Arkham games, I think). Haven't tested much as I didn't play the game in the last few days.

God damn it, every side quest has it's own proper story, it feel fantastic. Done with Keira, what a fantastic character she is, loved the replies, accent and her quests.
Need to get some proper gear for level 10, what's people using? I haven't done the Bloody Baron main quest n'or the Bog Witches ones - i just leveled up from wandering for PoIs..

At first I tried derptroller due to the ui, couldn't fight what so ever. Switched to k+m, smooth sailing ever since. Lock is only useful in one on one fights and even then I switch between on/off. I honestly think u need the punishment of death march to fully learn the system, 2 hits dead, 2 drowners 1-2'ing u dead, parry vs anything non human dead, not dodging between 2 fast hits vs anything fast dead, using wrong signs dead.
I took put everything on fyke island + quest like a boss w/o food any healing = good combat system.
This game gives me the feeling it was balanced / intended for death march. Usually hard mode feels like normal + monster DMG and HP x4..

Decoctions are terribly designed. The only one I use is the one that let's me carry more stuff. It's completely retarded that only Alchemy builds can actually make good use of them.

Dat key remapping ability from the last patch
Changed my inventory key from the default; pressed it once to access the inventory, no problem, after I'm done I press it again to exit to the world... nothing. Pressed the default i key, it worked
Autohotkey FTW I guess
