Part of the video quoted by bringiton that is related to PS4 (right) clearly shows it is less than 60 FPS, compare to smooth-silk video part on the left.
But I guess it just 60FPS so fast for your eye you can't see the difference :P

Dafaq. I just posted that the framerate is variable it runs anywhere between 30 and 60 and you somehow understood that as a claim that it runs at 60 and you are like no, no, see, it's less than 60! Where did I say otherwise?

So, does it tun on 30 or does it run on 60, kek?
And what it has to do with PC in this section by the way? Article I linked was the original source about UE4 changes, which eventually will come to PC.

Not just 30. Not just 60. Anywhere between (and including) 30 and 60: yes. 30, 31, 32, 33, 34 ... 56, 57, 58, 59, 60.

We are not commenting on that article. We are commenting on sabin's PC vs PS4 video.

But you just said it yourself patch for 30fps lock is coming, how can it run strictly from 30-60? It has to dip down below 30 as well for now.
it's called "variable framerate" and no need to invent bicycle.

Quote: | 2. Invisible or barely visible streaming of new areas. You can run from one corner of Red Creek Valley to another nearly without a hitch. In the UE3 version, the streaming could freeze the game for a second or so, depending on the PC.
However, this comes at a cost. UE3 version is quite low-end PC friendly, and does not have demanding hardware requirements. UE4 version requires a 64-bit Windows and minimum 6 GB of RAM. If that’s not what your system has, we recommend playing the UE3 version. Again, story is exactly the same in both versions. |
edit SSAA built in:
Quote: | The Vanishing of Ethan Carter Redux features something called Resolution Scale. |
Other AA options:
Quote: | FXAA: fast, “good enough” quality
T+FXAA: simple temporal AA + FXAA, good compromise between quality and speed
SMAA 1x: better quality than FXAA, but slower
SMAA T2x: SMAA with quality boost from temporal sampling
TAA: UE4’s temporal AA, least aliasing, but slight loss of detail unless Resolution Scale set to 200% |
DX12 support coming in the future:
Quote: | The current version of UE4 has an experimental support for DX12, and it really is experimental and thus too risky for a public release for us. As soon as there’s the final release, we will add this feature to the game. |

I'm thinking we need a new Steam curator; "Good Guy Devs", something to list all the games that have received substantial updates and DLC for free. It'd be a short list but a distinctive one.

Yep, absolutely shit performance (40-44FPS on 1080p) with little to none advantage in IQ. Old version is still superior.

Are you retarded or pretending to?
I already mentioned in this thread that original Carter ran smooth 60@1080p*max settings on my 670.
The UE4 one is barely scrapping 40 FPS because, well duh, it's UE4 crap and it runs like shit on 6xx-7xx series, it is a wide-known fact. KHOLAT devs "promised" to "colled dxdiag data" and "wotk with UE developer" to "fix it" but in the end it turned out to be just bunch of bullshit

Screenshots.
Spoiler: | |
As it's intended by the developers that it looks almost the same as the UE3 version there's not a huge visual boost but it now allows for using various post-process AA modes and downsampling/ssaa, DX12 too in later builds once UE4 matures a bit and implements it in final form instead of the current experimental 4.9 builds.
(Be careful when setting the graphics preset to ultra as that automatically applies a 200% resolution scale and thus renders at the double of your chosen resolution which obviously will affect framerate which might cause you to wonder why it runs worse than expected if you miss that detail, looks fantastic for screenshots though.)
Also as the article mentioned they included a alternate game exe that allows for using the debug console though it has a compiler error on-screen about the lighting needing to be rebuilt although being able to use stuff like "toggledebugcamera" is very handy for taking screenshots.

Sorry Kein, this runs absolutely flawlessly here. The only time framerate drops is if I try to run at 200% resolution scale.. which is friggin' 4K 1080p, 100% res, max settings, SMAA T2x or even TAA, all perfectly fine and locked at 60fps.. barely even breaks 60% GPU usage *except* when using "Sense" to open tears into... um... wherever, I'm not really sure yet
The readme file does say if your system cannot handle it then you can simply play the original game, storywise it's the same, there's only a handful of tweaks in this one. This is the first UE4 game that actually runs good for me, Kholat had an annoying tendency to drop to high 40s and low 50s.

What is this TAA anti aliasing? I've never seen it in a game before. Some kind of post process temporal AA? Doing some tests it looks blurrier than the other methods, but also much more effective in cleaning up the flicker/graininess of vegetation. And the performance hit is about the same as SMAA/FXAA.
-edit I found an explanation on their site, it's Epic's own AA method that comes with UE4.

Played 5 minutes with everything maxed and SMAA T2x but no SSAA, holy shit it's impressive how smooth the game runs! I feel like my character is sliding or something instead of walking because everything is just sooo smooth.
There's only a tiny of stutter when I enter and exit that train on the bridge. For half a second the framerate drops a tiny bit from 60. That's it. My ancient Phenom II usually does worse than that these days. Intel owners won't even notice anything probably (assuming the presence of a good GPU of course).

IIRC the first iteration of this had an intermittent stutter which resulted in me uninstalling. Hopefully this'll be a lot less frustrating.

It's a open world (albeit a pretty small one.) exploration game with a slight horror/mystery theme, most of the time you explore and interact with objects solving simpler puzzles to trigger scenes which normally gives you notes that explain the backstory of the game.
(Some of the scenes get a bit weird but I think it was explained towards the end why things were that way, I haven't finished the full game yet though as I got stuck in some abandoned mine segment in the previous version.)
