Interesting how they zoom out for a while when the FPS appears to hit single digits at the end there
Yeah that's some nasty performance read above they use cryengine for this? are this guys for real, they collected around 100 million (which sounds insane btw)and use one of the worst engines on the market?
I played around with a lot of engines (not a professional just for fun) but the cryengine was by far the worst written and badly documented i've seen so far, they will need to rewrite most of the code for their purpose anyway so it would probably been easier to just write a new engine from scratch.

CryEngine is one of the most capable engines.
My understanding unless someone has some other evidence is that the current game does not use multiple CPU Cores very well.

They have rewritten most of the engine already. They actually cant just take updates from crytek and update that to their version of cryengine automatically because it differs so much now. They can however implement certain features from newer versions of cryengine like VR manually.
Tried the Alpha briefly, performance sucked ass on a GTX 960, flight was not enjoyable in the slightest as a result but the Aurora feels better than when I tried it when AC was initially released.
Guess I need to revisit this in another year when I upgrade my hardware and development is further in. I still think there's potential here for a good game tho but their scope I feel is...out of hand.

GTX960 is an entry level gpu...
The GFX card is not even the problem here, it's all related to sucky cpu performance and the lack of proper multithreading as far as i can see.

No the "real" problem are the servers and the netcode right now.
IF you play 2.0 offline (there is a hack) you have 70-90fps with a GTX970 and over 100fps with a 980ti (1080p and max details). And there is some other positiv things.. for example, you dont have thoses crashes anymore. You can play for 2 hours if you want.
But as soon as you connect 2.0 to a server, your fps will suffer and the game will be more unstable.
Instruction for Offline-play:
There were several Patches on the PTU and the fps-numbers changed on every patch. There was one Patch (i think 2.0g) that had very high fps.. 50-70fps for me, but the stability was really really bad, most players were only able to play 1-3 min.
So right now the situation for Online 2.0 is this:
If CIG goes for stability, they have low fps
If CIG goes for high fps, the stability is really really bad
Really.. you have to try 2.0 with the offline-hack. Thats the way you see how much fps you would have IF the netcode would not be the problem

After 100m, here's the CIG Christmas gift - a ship sale, just U$ 2500/1250 each
"Greetings Citizens!
Santa Lando here with some important ship-buying notifications.
To celebrate the holidays, we are selling a limited number of Idris-P AND Javelin, in batches, at six hour intervals.
The Javelin will be sold in a total 200 allotment keeping in line with the relative population growth and ship distribution since it's last sale. It will cost $2500.
The Idris-P will be sold in a total 120 allotment keeping in line with the relative population growth and ship distribution since it's last sale. It will cost $1250.
At what point does it stop being crowdfunding and turns into pre-ordering?
I've been wondering about this for a while.
It is said that they stopped adding new features at around the 65 million dollar milestone.
They've got 101 million now, and they're still accepting money - and websites (GameSpot for example) describe it as if the crowfunding campaign is still ongoing. I'm not entirely sure how this works anymore.
Players are buying ships, and copies of the game, like any game which is Buy 2 Play + Microtransactions/Majortransactions. This adds money to the project, but is it crowfunding?
All of the backers say that it's not about the ship, it's about donating that amount to CIG, and that the ships will be free to get in-game when it's out anyway.
So the holiday sale just makes them donate less money to CIG, which is obviously not good.
The holiday sale should be reversed instead, so you get to donate more money to CIG and make Star Citizen a better game!
It's called immersion VGA! Do you expect to jump in your spaceship and simply be able to fly and fire your lazors, with the pressing of a button?
This is a full-simulation that thanks to the generous crowfunding of our benefactors, finally allows the players to experience faulty sensor arrays, main drive's malfunction and fusion accelerator cannon heating (among the other things) first hand, respectively through hud interferences/glitching, blue screens of death and imprecise hit detection/lag effect on our servers. Be advised, these are all meant to be features, they cannot by any means be considered bugs!
And what you saw is just a small glimpse of the final product. Expect more..immersion and features
He has got much fatter, wow. I guess he is eating the money here.
edit: wtf is up with the guy? He comes across like he is on some real heavy meds.
I think he's one of those guys who needs to be involved all the time. A project this big, with this much media attention before release is probably stressful to manage. Everyone wants it to fail, and he's put his personal reputation on the line in a way here. Probably don't spend hours working out or cooking healthy stuff, hehe.
Damn, Roberts comes across as being completely inept. And people are literally throwing money at him. I'll never understand the ways of the world.
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.
