The drops are not as bad as I thought they would be, although they mention that it's not hindered by actual temperature so don't expect more stable OC's (less fluctuations) even with superultramegaduper coolers.

It turns out there's little to no difference whatsoever in a closed case versus an open one (given adequate airflow inside the case, of course) and that OCing potential remains pretty much the same.
I'm waiting for 1070 from Zotac, EVGA, Galax and MSI, non FE. Most probably i'll go for MSI 1070 once it comes out, since it will be available in stores.
Palit has an interesting 1070 tho, GameRock Premium Edition. I've never owned a Palit card, so i don't know anything about them.
I really wanted a 1080 but unfortunately, it is too expensive.

Palit is Gainward, or lets say -> Gainward is Palit, cause they bought them ages ago (thats why they use same or similar cooling solutions for both branded cards). Had a GTX 260 from Palit when they came out, was a nice and quiet card
Thanks. I've started comparing specs and will go for the highest out of the box oc. Most probably, Zotac AMP! Extreme will be the one, but also the most expensive.

There are benches showing founders edition cards outperforming custom cards with all their extra VRMs and power. I would just buy the cheapest possible card personally.
Read about that on Anandtech and ya it's weird. The SteamVR was tested with an old Catalyst driver(16.1.1), so the debate began about AMD wanting to downplay their card before launch...
But we shall see in a few weeks what the truth is.
Just bought the Evga SC 1080 because I couldn't wait and they received stock at my local pc store..Couldn't resist..Could of bought the G1 also but decided for the Evga one.
Overclocked it. Played Farcry Primal for 30 minutes on 1440p dsr all maxed out and fps averaged 59-60 to 90-95 vsync ON.
Core clock running between 2.114 & 2.126
Mem clock :5300
Temp : 68 degrees
Fan Speed 65%
Very satisfied!!

things are starting to look grim here in croatia. founder edition 1070's are now popping up everywhere, but the cheapest one is 626 bucks up to 700 bucks. no custom ones in sight, but I fully expect the corrupt shithole of a country will mean they will be even more expensive.
basically, selling a 970 in the best case scenario would cover for just half of a 1070 so the chances of a GPU upgrade for me are growing exceedingly slim.
I hate this shithole so much, should have never returned from the states.

I'm selling my r9 390 and gonna get shit for it. If i put a fair price on it, then people would be like wtf is wrong with you, it's too expensive and if i try to sell it for cheap, then it would be...hmm, it's too cheap, something is wrong with it and the guy aint tellin.
Prices are through the roof, as usual.

If you're gaming at 1080p a 970 or 290/390/x is all you need. I think my 290 will run games well at that resolution for at least a year or two.
well, it's sufficient for most titles yeah, and I don't expect it to just become crap over night. but I like to play with downsampling and I like constant 60 fps+ 8gb vram is a big plus.
But it doesn't seems like it's gonna be happening for me as the prices are robbery. I'm actually considering asking someone in the states/canada to mail me the gpu at cheapest shipping, which is around 40 bucks. it would take a month to arrive+ warranty would pretty much be useless on it.
it's just frustrating that in a time when you know what's happening in almost every inch of the planet, you can't bypass the bureaucratic shillery that takes an exorbitant amount of extra profit. paying the same money for a 1070, what a 1080 actually costs is a tough pill to swallow.
Considering how well games run even at 1440p with my 390, I don't see how anyone would ever need anything better for 1080p in the nearby future atleast. Even 970 with the shitty VRAM and inferior performance should run at 1080p just fine.
Buying a 1070 or 1080 at 1080p is just a massive waste of money if you ask me. Friend upstairs has a Nano at 1080p and can max out pretty much everything with his 2500K and Nano.

EVGA has global warranty regardless of where you buy it. Not sure how customs works in your country but in Poland if you can't prove that this is a gift (and it might be that there is also a value limit there) and it's not new they will slap you with additional charges that will make the card even more expensive than buying it directly in Poland Would love to have Spykez or somebody to ship me the card but no idea how to pass around this nonsense
