Probably packaged and sent by Janz industries... Pffchh

Someone in Finland has been very very happy after receiving this package. Smile Based on the tape the card was bought or the package has been delivered from Jimms.fi. Smile Though this can also be used card sold from someone to someone else.

Is it worth it to get a 1080 or should I get a 1070

1080 is 1500 Bulgarian credits, 1070 is 1000

How about giving them a clean?

Just remove those fans and put two 80mm or 90mm case fans.

Battlefield 1 on a 240hz monitor? Razz
(Well I suppose there's not too many of those outside of the Eizo VA one so 120 or 144 then but that's still good compared to 60 ha ha.)

EDIT: Well I could just have said Battlefield 1 but Dice are known to have well optimized game engines (Or just games as it's all on their constantly updated Frostbite engine.) although network issues can be a thing in online matches.

Higher resolutions and/or higher refresh rates is why you would want to upgrade at this time. The GTX 1080 is barely good enough for uncompromising 1080p120/144 gaming in most recent games and, I think, can handle 1440p60 with some room to spare.

Anything beyond that (1440p120/144, UW 1440p100+ and 4K60) is still out of reach unless you dial down some settings.

There are plenty of settings out there that can be dialed down with very minimal impact on looks but massive impact on performance.

Fucking shitty optimized modern games that won't run properly on any PC... BF1 is a fine example of how it SHOULD BE done, runs like a fuckin dream at 1440p even on my PC.

Returning my 1070 gtx again Laughing Due to lower prices and up to 2 additional games being offered on purchase. It's still on "open buy" as it's called here so i can return it for any reason i want as long as it's in a working state.

Anyone know anything about this one?
https://www.komplett.no/product/895394/datautstyr/skjermkort/pci-express/asus-geforce-gtx-1070-dual-oc#

It's cheap, but if the performace difference is negligible then i won't really care.

They have to be bought from Nvidia directly far as I know, no third-party sellers or custom models of that GPU.

EDIT:
http://www.kitguru.net/components/graphic-cards/leo-waldock/titan-x-pascal-sli-at-5k-pc-specialist-leviathan-x-review/

Quote:

Titan X is only available directly from Nvidia – there are no partner cards – and there is a strict limit of two cards per customer. Added to that there are only two PC builders in the UK who are permitted to use Titan X in their systems.

If you could save up for a 1070 that would make things pretty clear on what to go for (It's clearly faster.) but yeah there is a difference in price between the 1060 and 1070 so that could be a bit of a wait.

1060 or 480 is about the same performance wise when they're not held back by game or driver optimizations far as I'm aware, Nvidia does provide CUDA functionality for PhysX hardware acceleration and some of their own tech like HBAO+ likely performs better on their GPU models.

AMD doesn't really have any tech like that though they are focusing heavily on DirectX 12 and Vulkan albeit there's a CPU overhead issue with DirectX 11 and older which impacts framerate a bit depending on your CPU model and of course how heavily it's being used by the game in question.

Driver wise I haven't had a Nvidia GPU in a while now but going by the release notes and user feedback it's not too different between them, both have their share of known issues and quirks really.
(And the ever problematic practice of AMD and Nvidia picking a few games or developers each whom clearly favors "their" GPU brand or how to say though it's been worse to where AMD and Nvidia would outright cheat with optimizations and driver hacks for any advantage possible though this current practice still impacts stuff like multi-GPU functionality or quick driver support.)

Price will probably be what decides then depending on the difference between the 1060 and 480 in your area, depending on warranties and consumer rights you might have a open period of two weeks or so where you can return the product if you are not satisfied, I'm not all that knowledgeable on how it works in areas outside of the EU and even then it can vary a bit from country to country.
(And some stores can be a bit of a hassle to deal with but that's just my own opinion.)

If you have a FreeSync monitor or you're planning to buy one in the near future, get a 480, otherwise get a 1060.

It doesn't have the idle fan of feature, so if you need it, more expensive model (well not STRIX those things are overpriced, other manufacturer). Performance is same for any pascal if overclocked.

edit: Mafia III is only for the STRIX Laughing (well for the price they better be giving a game for free)
http://www.asus.com/event/2016/rog/mafia3/

edit2: well seems that the promo is here too bundled with the dual fan cards (even thou it should not be), so it would be a good offer then.

Thanks for the info, I was worried a bit.

Well the price is still the same, but I assume this means it will also stay this high. Sad

Better just wait for the GTX 1080Ti, unless you really need that 12 GB VRAM.

Can pirate mafia, but i don't really care too much about that game. I'd rather have gears of derp.

Edit: went with gainward gaming g1. Seems like cheap but solid card.

For Forza, pick AMD.
An alternative if you're budget-limited is to pick the 470 and overclock it to the power of a stock 480. But for Forza, AMD will serve you better.
