Was looking at the sales on this local store, can someone help me pick the best price/quality ones? (doesnt have to be just these 2, there are more on the website)

Thanks in advance!

Thanks again!

To a subwoofer every position is potentially viable. Near walls or corners gives a free bass boost. However, that doesn't mean that any of these positions are actually any good. Test it. You want a smooth transition from the satellites to the sub and you don't want to localize it either.

Thanks, thats what i was thinking about doing, i really dont want it on the floor and it seems the satelities seem weaker with it on the floor and not as complemented, it has a fuller sound with all 3 pieces on the desktop.

Subwoofers are omnidirectional. Just put it somewhere that's not blocking it.

Actually depending on the frequency you can't even block it so easily as the waves will just bend around as if nothing was there in the first place. Razz

And I think that they are omnidirectional is not the primary reason as to why you can't localize them. You can localize omnidirectional full rangers. I think it has to with the the huge wavelengths and the room. Anyway, gotta go ...

I didn't want to create a separate thread for this, so I am posting it here.

Ever since I bought PS4 Slim (the one without optical out, it only has HDMI) I am struggling with how to set up my audio. Here is a diagram how I have it configured right now:

My goal is to be able to hear PC sounds from voice apps (like Discord) simultaneously when I am playing on PS4. I want to have separate audio device for all PC audio except for voice applications (for easier recording games on PC without any unwanted voice-overs from Discord). I also want to be able to easily switch between headphones and speakers when I want.

My setup is working just fine right now, except for one annoying issue: buzzing sound. I guess it's ground loop? It gets better and worse depending on how I move with the cables coming to the speakers. If I pull the plug from aux in from speakers, it becomes practically inaudible.

I also tried connecting my monitor to Aux In on my PC motherboard and setting "listen to this device", but then I could hear the buzzing sound quite loudly whenever I played on PS4.

Is there any better way to connect this? What should I buy or change to help with the buzzing sound? Nothing too expensive, I am not really all that much into expensive and quality audio.

Well, you can try putting ferrite beads on some of the cables.

Otherwise, I dunno if you have things like this in Europe but for 3 prong power cord with a ground prong on it, using a 3 to 2 adapter can solve the issue

Otherwise there's other options that cost more like ground loop hum eliminators

I know nobody here have any experience with mackie CR3 speakers but is it normal for powered speaker to emit buzzing/hiss noise?

That is even with speaker turned off with front volume knob.
The hiss is coming from power supply in speaker I think. It starts after a while speaker is on so probably after it gets hot. Buzzing stops after turning of the speaker with main switch on the back.
It is winter and speakers are in well ventilated place on desk. They will probably explode in summer

It's not audible through speaker and seems to be just power supply hiss.
I don't really mind it but I don't think it bodes well. The speakers still sound great. But I am afraid they will burn my home or something Crying or Very sad

These aren't your speakers but there's tons of talk about active monitors on there. Sounds like it's your amp. Speakers with cheap components, which theyre pretty cheap for it being an amp + speakers.

https://www.manualslib.com/manual/881663/Mackie-Creative-Reference-Cr3.html?page=10

Manual also mentions this being an issue with incorrect gain settings as well as some other stuff you can do to trouble shoot.

Have you hooked them up to another source? What cables are you using?

It's not connected to the volume control but Just to speaker being on. If I mage it louder, the electrical buzzing is not getting louder. It's just like electrical circuitry buzzing inside the powered speaker. Not tthrough driver itself.

... thanks for the link. I will read more of that topic You linked tomorrow. It's getting late today

I really do enjoy those speakers. They sound very good and I have no idea what I would buy if those broke Crying or Very sad

edit: Just noticed You updated post. Did not tried other source. Just fiio e10k
I've ordered some a little bit (still cheap) rca cable from Prolink. They recommended it on some polish forums. Should get it soon.
Speaker cable is just what mackie included and power cable is not detachable. It is plugged into extension cord power strip together with pc and monitor.
edit2: It's barely audible(need to move head close to speaker) but I associate this sound with bad electric stuff and I am probably exaggerating Laughing

I have a high end Philips TV I bought 4 years ago, the speakers are good for a TV. These last few months they were glitching at high volume, so it was time for something to replace the speakers. I didn't want to invest in a full system, but I was having my doubts about a soundbar (basically a long stick with some speakers in it). I am a convert Very Happy The sound and bass is pretty impressive.

I've been keeping my eye out for the 9500 version of this amp for over a year and nothing ever popped up.

Did a search and The Mark II version popped up on Craigslist and bought it yesterday as soon as the guy got home.

I don't really mind open or closed, both are fine. The Sennheiser I've seen before but it's quite old, I thought they'd surely had something newer by now Confused

What about AKG K915? Local store has them in stock and the Sennheiser needs to be ordered.

Well, they have other wireless headphones but those are out of your range. They seem to keep products that work/sell well.

The AKG look good too, I've had a pair of AKG headphones before, their pads are like pillows.

Bumpitty bump - I want to buy my grandpa tv wireless headphones for christmass.
There is:
AKG k912 and k915 and Senn RS 120ii
I like the look of k915 most - Anyone ever used one of those rf headphones? Grandfather will not give a shit about quality as long as he can clearly listen to his movies. But I guess static is not that tragic. They live in a house and not 10 block apartment so there are no neighbors around to introduce a lot of other bands.

How is battery with those things? I guess they take rechargeable aa batteries and recharge in the docking station?
Also - I guess it takes jack or rca from tv's headphones socket into the docking station but do the cable needs to be unplugged to enable tv speaker again? I think most tv's silent their speaker once headphones are plugged it...

btw - This is a pretty much headphones christmas lol. I've ordered Superluxes evo mkii for my fiancee parents. Black and white pairs. Sure it's cheap but my friend have one of those and it's ok. 2 pairs of earpads, long and short cable. It's ok for their notebooks use.

Pictures make them look cheap but probably the best built headphones I've ever held. The black framing on the outside I thought was going to be plastic but it's all aluminum. Earpads are some of the softest, most comfortable I've ever used next to the normal velour, these are still softer. Little heavier than my previous headphones but the clamp pressure + the strap makes them feel almost weightless.

Soundwise, they're like nothing any other headphones sound like. Most of the reviews I read all mentioned them sounding like walking into a room with really nice speakers. Made 0 sense to me at the time until I got them and I don't even know how to describe that? I guess the way they built the drivers was in the same sense that speaker drivers are made vs how most headphones make the diaphragm.

At first, listening to them they just sounded muddy, wasn't sure if I was going to keep them but everywhere I read, I kept being told to get used to them and let my ears adjust since they have a really weird sound signature, but once your ears get used to it, it's hard to walk away from them, and they were right. What I thought I didn't like at first, turned out to be some of the best I've heard. I had a few different headphones to compare them to including the Sennheiser HD600 and still can't say I like anything better than the Nighthawk sound now. Even my monitors don't really compare.

The only downside I have with them, is the sound stage isn't as wide as I normally like with my Senns, but these headphones tend to do everything nice. Highs are nice but don't feel like they're piercing your eardrums, mids are just where I like them and the bass/sub bass is just insane. They hit hard when they need to and the sub bass rumbles your head when it hits, doesn't get flabby or break up at all.

Bass can get a little too much depending on what I'm listening to but eh, not big enough issue to worry about using an EQ to tone it down a little

While the sound stage isn't as wide as I'd like for music, the imaging on them is fucking perfect especially for video games. Footsteps sound exactly where they should be instead of sounding further away or closer than they are. Few games I've played online especially some competitive games made me feel like I was cheating at times.

So really, only cons is I'd like the wider sound stage of a Sennheiser (granted mine are only semi-open) and bass can be a little overzealous sometime and the sound signature took some getting used to but overall, for what I paid, I love them. I've always had an itch to get different headphones with every other pair I've owned. Since I got these, I haven't even looked at getting a new pair. They usually retail for around 500 but I got them brand new off a guy not too far from me from head-fi for 385 bucks shipped and that was a god damn good deal.

The head-fi thread is pretty god damn big too. It's pretty universally loved. I've had 3? friends now buy a pair after recommending them in their budget and they all love them. Just make sure you pair them with a decent DAC. Amp isn't needed but they do sound hella better if they're not being run off of a shitty onboard sound.

There is the newer version called the shp9500s.

Comes with a shorter cable but they refined the driver a little bit and can go 5dB lower.

I would be interested to try shp9500 but they are unavailable in poland Sad

Thankfully, I already have the best ever headphone - Koss porta pro. Seriously... I cannot use over ears anymore. Too hot and sweaty and velour pads gets gross quickly (which is not an issue btw, just use lint roller)... But the Porta Pro is just a revelation for me.
Usually I would switch headphone 2 times a year. But I already have PP for over a year and don't imagine changing it. I don't feel them on my head and they do not sweat or anything. And the sound is just fanatic coming from e10k. It's nice to forget that You are wearing headphones.. now fi only koss made them wireless... eh
 Spoiler:

Not many people think about it as a desktop headphone because of it's portable format and price. There is a crazy weird cult of this headphone on head-fi. It is a recommended headphone for 10k$ music player http://www.tera-player.com/ (wtf)

Ironically - they suuuuck at being outdoors headphones due to sound leakage. They are fine/great for bike or walk since its safer to hear surrounding but I would never listen to them on the train or a bus. People would murder me because they could hear everything that I do.

I also have AKG k414p for when I REALLY need sound isolation. I had to get them after watching Pontypool lol
 Spoiler:

I was lucky enough to find one pair NEW for super super cheap. I think these were selling until about 2008 and were discontinued then along with most classic AKG headphones. And the headphone itself is just rebranded much older AKG K26 classic headphone. So I was happy to get this "vintage gear". They sound bassy, a bit muddy and not as good as porta pro ofcourse. But they isolate great and look cool (and clamp a bit much).

anyway - I bumped the topic and got ignored Evil or Very Mad But don't matter as I will not be buying grandpa those shitty headphones. I've watched some reviews and they are all mostly very crap.
