There is many mixed reviews out there, i think it has to do with mobo, bios updates, and ram types/timing/manuf.

@Janz
That's GREAT, that means AMD stops making desktop CPU's and all you'll have are really awesome and not at all overpriced Intel CPU's! \o/
Woohoo, that's a pure win for the consumer.

@Janz Thats just pathetic. Do you even know anything about stocks? Nvidia is also down by 2%.
On another note, great time to pick up some extra shares.

I think a 1700(non-X) with a little OC might be a really great and futureproof investement. I'd just wait a bit for mobo issues to be ironed out.

it crashes because their product cant life up the hype they created, the bubble most likely will just explode
@mrtinkles: normal price fluctuations for the nvidia stock, they will rise with the launch of the 1080ti and not fall like amds stock does atm

Their product delivers pretty much exactly what I expected. It didnt fail like many haters expected though.

Hahaha so Nvidia stock drop is normal price fluctuation but AMD is not.... yep makes a lot of sense. Also people who buy shares are not doing this for the Ryzen launch. They are expecting increased profits this year and Ryzen is only a small part. Naples will be the biggest piece of the pie.

People are selling their shares because they already made 600% profit. It will probably drop this week to 13 even but it doesn't matter because it will pick up again from there. The benchmarks today promise a very good Naples CPU and that's where all the money is.
Also you are comparing apples with pears. You should put the R7 against the 6900K and when R5 comes out you can compare it with with the 6700K, but whatever.

@Janz
Quite good for a 1700 which can be overclocked to 1800X levels. The 1700X and the 1800X are shit for gaming (and for everything else really, when you consider the 1700), on that I agree with you.

i say it again: they are not bad! but they are too expensive. 250 bucks for the 1700 instead of 350 would have been a great show stealer. would have been, in this case it simply isnt |
I agree, I was hoping for the 1800x for 200€....

Getting really tired of Janz...my god.
Anyway like Lathieza said, the R7 cpu's go against broadwell-e cpu's more than kaby lake or skylake. I think that was clear from the start...apparently not.
We should wait to see what R5 and R3 cpu's bring in terms of gaming compared to kaby lakes for example.
AMD Ryzen 9 7900X 4,7 GHz
Asrock X670E Steel Legend
G.Skill Trident Z5 32 GB DDR5 6400Mhz
Asus TUF RTX 4090 24 GB GDDR6X
NZXT Kraken Z73 RGB
Corsair HX1500i Platinum
NZXT H7 Flow

Technically you are right. I guess I'm basing the comparison on the fact that all Ryzen 7s are essentially the exact same CPU at different clocks, so buying anything other than the 1700 is pointless. Power users can take that into account when making a purchase, but everyone else can't (and shouldn't have to).

We should also see how much better 4 cores clock against 8 cores for AMD. Intel's 8 cores have had difficulties going much higher than 4.2Ghz aswell. Obviously having 8 cores together produces more heat than having 4.

good brony! just take 3000er ram directly, will work without problems with the z270 chipset (or lets say the cpu, cause the dram controller is inside the cpu). kaby is officially supporting 2400mhz but 3000mhz oc with a z board is no problem
