As I said, I don't think complexity for the sake of it is a good thing. It's all about what you're trying to achieve with your game - and combat shouldn't be the only focus in all games.
Agree completely.
I'd give some more reasons to Interinactive to fume; despite being completely simple, I enjoyed the combat in Skyrim a lot more than this.
Haha, it doesn't take much for certain people to fume around here. In fact, even when there's no reason - they'll just invent one
Are you the type of people that claim that in order to have legitimacy of complaint (the legal right), one must sink 230 hours in a game?
Based on what I said, why are you asking this?

which either leads me to believe you haven't played the game at length

I'm still left to assume you didn't experience much of it, so perhaps a little more time with the game was exactly what you needed.
You keep saying "didn't experience much of it" in several occasions. This is why I ask. How much am I to "experience" before I form an opinion that I don't like this turd?

Says the person who continually claims he wants a discussion, and not to troll. You don't really want to discuss, argue or back up anything you say. Nobody does. They want to keep saying dumb shit and then cling to 'muh opinion' when they get called out on it. No defense, relevant examples or demonstrated knowledge that you know what you're talking about, just more tangents and baiting. Fuck this place.
Here are some videos of the youtuber everyone here loves the most:
Was trying to refrain from posting these videos, as they have been posted here before, but I can't be arsed to look for more of the same.

^^ although watching that batman combat the AI looks like it's just standing around waiting to be punched with no threat. Many of these types of games you can often put the controller down and watch for 20 or more minutes for the AI to actually kill your char.
Agree, but with the limited control inputs we have, there is a fine line between what is possible and what is not. I think the Batman games did not cross the line of ridiculous, while games like Assassins Creed do. BTW, so does this game:
Because it doesn't look like that. In actual game enemies are more aggressive. And besides... how does that differ from that Batman video linked as an example of how "complex" or "good" that game's combat system is?
At least in TW3 you have to move. You can clearly see that even in these videos. The moment he gets too cocky he gets hit, despite trying to show off how easy and broken the game is. In batman games you can just rely on cues and press exactly two buttons during the entire fight. That's precisely what I see on that video. Sure, the CHARACTER is moving a lot, but that's not player input, just awesome buttoning. You see !!!, you press counter. You don't see it, you press attack and your Batman instantly moves light years and hits an enemy. Positioning, distance, all of that doesn't matter, only timing and watching for flashing visual cues. Everything else is automated. It's a glorified QTE, ffs, only dressed in nicely moccaped animation.
^^ it just demonstrates that only 1-2 AI enemies are actually posing a threat despite whatever is shown on screen.

this one made me laugh quite a bit, and I do agree with him on both the movement (apparently got patched later?) and the lock / random targeting. I remember the first 5-6 hours figuring out such things as > never, ever, ever use lockon etc. and eventually you adjust your play-style to the movement controls until you can handle fights relatively easily.
The monsters in W3 are a breeze once you figure out the pattern / weakness. It's not like they surprise you and change up behavior. I'd still say the AI is above average for a AAA title, each enemy has a different feel and takes a little while to understand and beat, most studios don't even bother i.e everything is humanoid and has the same routines with different model and skins.
If patches were introduced later one and fixed some of this stuff, I have not played beyond the original release and possibly a zero day patch, if there was such.
Why does it matter why Leo thinks the game is trash? He doesn't like it, much like how I don't like reading 4 pages of nonsense regarding the validity of someone's opinion.
NO LINKS TO ILLEGAL STUFF IN SIGS - DLC IS ILLEGAL TOO
I agree with draySpittle: we've had about enough of this.
De gustibus non est disputandum.
"Enlightenment is man's emergence from his self-imposed nonage. Nonage is the inability to use one's own understanding without another's guidance. This nonage is self-imposed if its cause lies not in lack of understanding but in indecision and lack of courage to use one's own mind without another's guidance. Dare to know! (Sapere aude.) "Have the courage to use your own understanding," is therefore the motto of the enlightenment."

What are some good mods to use, which are also fully compatible with the newest version of Witcher 3?

I don't get these 24h+ later complaints, and this isn't the first time I've seen this lately..
isn't this discussing the game? I mean this whole page and previous is discussing the ai and combat mechanics? I'm interested how other people think about the combat in this game. Maybe from said comments I would pick up a title i'd previously not considered. That kind of response now likely means 4 users (that generally contribute more than 1 line posts and meme's) will be less likely to bother in future.

A discussion is all fine and dandy but it seems these days it often crosses over to personal attacks and then spirals out of control, especially if you have a grudge against someone.

The problem for me was that half of the discussion was centered around a completely different game.

The Script Merger is always required, since the game doesn't handle mods well at all and sadly, many other interesting ones (also graphical) have been discontinued and aren't fully compatible with the latest version which is a damn shame.
A guy actually tried to put some effort into making "old" mods compatible here, but he stopped at the 1.30 version, although many of these still work on the 1.31 as well..it's a bit of a trial and error sort of thing.

Agree, but was there really a discussion? People took offense that other people don't like the game they LOVE and played for 230 hours, so they started ridiculing and dismissing anything else as trolling. That's the type of discussion there is on this retarded board.

This boards is still loads better than most boards out there. Better than the vast majority of boards, in fact.
I also disagree with your appraisal of TW3 combat, and completely love this game. But that is OK for me.
And I believe one can have a valid and true opinion of a game, even if he/she played just a little.
"Netflix will develop and produce a new show based on The Witcher Saga, the series of eight novels by Andrzej Sapkowski that inspired the hugely popular CD Projekt Red RPG games.
Sapkowski - who does not profit from the game series - will serve as a creative consultant on the series. āIām thrilled that Netflix will be doing an adaptation of my stories," he explained in a press release, "staying true to the source material and the themes that I have spent over thirty years writing."
Tomas Baginski - who directed the intro videos for all three Witcher games, as well as the Cyberpunk 2077 teaser trailer - will direct at least one episode per season."
