So I've started playing this game yesterday...excellent game, addictive, and late-game doesn't get super annoying like other games of its type. I really like that since I tend to give up in mid-to late game from insane micromanaging.

With that said...I feel influence is batshit overpowered. Is it just me? I just won a game where I just absorbed systems effortlessly, used influence to pump out ships or improvement in systems..it's insane.

I'm probably playing at too low a difficulty lol. Watching it spread like cancer is so satisfying though!

Cos thats how it usually works in EA unless its already in the game when they make it EA. There are several EA games out there that are listed with no MP even though the devs say it will be added later.

I know it's petty but one thing that really bothered me about the combat was the explosions, have they been beefed up? they were so petty looking last time I checked it out.

That seems to be some major things that aren't working yet. Especially the A.I. related points. I think I rather wait a bit longer for a proper, patched and actually ready game Smile

Pretty much as expected from them. So rather wait for first major expansion.

Indeed, that's what I'll do as well. I've waited till now, I can wait some more if that means playing the complete experience without drawbacks/annoyances Razz (The Early Access tag can stay for now xD)

Huge improvement from the previous patch. All GUI glitches were fixed, performance almost doubled Surprised

Game is GUI and infographics porn Very Happy Just by playing with GUI I already got my money's worth

So far, I would say this is the most polished of the newer 4X games (Stellaris, GalCiv 3 Crusade, Civ 6 ) Smile

1.0.1 released http://steamcommunity.com/games/392110/announcements/detail/1262543171548152105 (i think this list previous fixes as well),
someone posted 101 fixes:

Robby 1 hour ago
Here are the actual changes between 1.0.1 and 1.0:

Quote:
Fixed: custom faction voice over now matches faction visuals
Fixed the Narrator Empire Introduction voice when launching the Beginner Tutorial
Fixed various causes of potential sync loss
Fixed notifications not being displayed in some game loading situations
Fixed missing icons in the tech tree
Fixed an issue with "Preserve the Academy" breaking saves
Fixed an issue with ground battle scan views
Fixed some sounds missing with ground battle
Fixed an issue with Horatio splicing
Fixed an issue with ground battle manpower that could be negative in some cases
Fixed the planet scan view, now complete
Fixed Game session remaining stuck during the End Turn sequence while in a Pending state
[MAC] Fixed: minor and major factions influence area can no longer be seen through the fog of war

[KNOWN ISSUES]
Unfallen users cannot use the spaceport
Several factions traits on custom factions are not functional yet
ENFER ship cannot be dragged into the hangar (it can be done through the disband action)
Vodyani Quest Chapter 1 Part 2 Second choice will not work with custom factions

i played like 10 hours in early access and it was fairly well done. 1.0 had a lot of translations still missing tough, but haven't found a gamebreaking bug yet, even minor

Lesson Learned

Quote:
.. This, however, came at the expense of proper testing. Taken aback by the amount of things that needed a quick fix, we rushed to address all issues and issued as quickly as possible a patch to fix most pressing problems and make everyone happy. As we all know, the road to Hell is paved with good intentions, and this patch turned a “not so good situation” into a “far worse situation”, with the AI entering a deadlock status for many players who had previously been unaffected...

The release rush was making it hard for something like this not to happen. On the bright side only took a couple of days after last patch to admit it so hopefully they can properly fix the game with more testing.

I'll be playing something else for a while, not fun getting those bugs when you are invested on a playtrough.

Is anyone using the multiplayer steamworks fix? I'm looking to play this with a friend and I can't convince him to purchase the game, so I've been meaning to try the multiplayer fix. However it's been a while since the game was released and both the game and steam got updated since, so I'm wondering if it stills works?

EDIT: In case anyone is wondering, we tried it and yep it still works.

Yes and it's much better than the first one. The launch was a bit rushed, but the problems got fixed.

This is no doubt the finest 4X game I have ever played. And the reason for that is simple. This game respects my time. It focuses on the strategy instead of the micromanagement (though you can do that to some extent). It doesn't try to be all things to everyone, it stays on the strategic layer, but there, it is very strong. The game itself is not that complex, but it is very deep. In other words very good mechanical designs.

But that would not be enough to receive the high praise it does from me.

On this very solid structure lies a very clear and understandable UI. Very clean and elegant.

And even on top of this layer is the fluff - the factions, the quests, the style. It's unique, sometimes strange, always original.

I have been playing 4x for some time now, and this game captivated me like no other in the genre. Buy it. Play it.

Now that's a temptation-inducing post! I'll have to build myself a time chamber one of these days and collect a few dozens of homemade extra-hours to dedicate to the game, it's the only way

edit:
I removed the [Early Access] tag, it seems that the dev team has been indeed active and busy with the patching in the past few months after the shaky launch, keeping the promise.

I hate to play devils advocate, but I couldn't, and still can't, get into it.

My biggest gripe with this game is it just seems so...sterile. From the UI, to the races, to the tech trees. It may be "technically competent" per se, but there just doesn't seem to be much heart here. Seems like it'd be far more at home in a spread sheet.

That said, I can see the draw for some people. Just not for me. Sad
