I personally rather to have Opposing Force as Blueshift is one of the weakest expansion pack ever made to a game.

Quote:
Tripmine Studios has released some new comparison screenshots between its upcoming remake of Half-Life: Blue Shift in Source Engine, Guard Duty, and its original version. Guard Duty is total conversion mod, aiming to be composed of entirely custom content. In other words, think of it as the Black Mesa mod for Blue Shift.

Guard Duty will feature original maps re-created and re-envisioned for better realism and gameplay, improved AI in order to make enemies smarter and more dangerous, scripted scenes with all the original Blue Shift characters to help bring the story to life, brand new high-quality textures and models, as well as new voices, sounds and music.

Guard Duty looks really cool, though it’s still a ways off. Currently there isn’t any ETA for when it will be released, and the team is still recruiting members. As such, we may be looking at a 2018 release (and that’s an optimistic scenario).

But anyway, let’s hope that Tripmine will not drop the ball and will finish this total conversion.

Well it had it's moments but i would rather want to see Opposing Force remade as well, the other problem is the Source engine is starting to look almost as outdated as the Goldsource engine these days and they are just starting with it now if i got that right, same problem Black Mesa has and we are still waiting for the rest of that game after all those years btw.

I thought about this too, It's true that Valve outclassed when it comes to Game engine.. being honest I don't think they even trying to coempte with engine like Unity and UE4..

But Titanfall 2 proved you can still push the engine to nice highets..

I didn't plaid Titanfall 2 yet... I might compare it's graphics to games like Hellbalde To see how the It's looking comapred to the high end engine

Blue shift felt more like a level pack for the original HL featuring (a) Barney and his escape (Without G sending him to planet FuckYou at the end - see the "bad" end of HL1 for that. Razz )

Opposing Force (Forces?) felt more like a actual expansion adding new enemies and weapons to the mix even if some of them were a bit weird, though not as strange as say Azure Shift or what some of the bigger mods were back then adding all the rough but still available cut content back to the game from early Xeen prototype creatures to military mini-gun grunts and mechs, was fun for a mod though, really fun. Very Happy

A faithful remake in Source for either of these would be nice to see, hopefully taking less time than the HL1 remake project did but it seems they're finally closing in on finalizing the remastered Xeen levels.

Xen? Zen? Xeen? Zeen? Shit I can't remember. Razz
(World of Xeen was M&M that much I do know at least. Ha ha.)

Oh and giant worm thing in Opposing Forces kinda still beats the flying psychic baby thing with metal diaper thing of HL1 though neither were all that "great" far as boss battles went as I remember. Very Happy

Wasn't Blue Shift more an addon made for the Dreamcast's version of HL which they released for PC as a stand-alone? It was more of the same but with a crappy ending and really short. Biggest improvement, were the addition of improved models.

This is 56 years in development and it doesn't look like it's releasing soon (my bet: never) so whatever. Laughing

Try 2006 for the first iteration: http://www.moddb.com/mods/guardduty/news/we-are-at-mod-db-at-last and 2009 for the second and current: http://www.moddb.com/mods/guardduty/news/official-statement1
