@Bob Barnsen
Have you tried luring mobs one by one? it seemed to work when the game was in EA.
Although considering nerfs the game was easier in EA... you could CC enemies almost non-stop. The chapter 1 final fight was still ridiculous even with cheesing& CC

People who had the corrupted saves issue seem to say that the new patch fixed it.

Sadly its not really possible in this fight.
Layout of it:
Spoiler: | Near each of the candles a ranged enemy spawns.
And in the middle several melee enemies that bumrush you.

_________
|
Cant you teleport with any of the chars to the place of the spawn? Otherwise high initiative helps.

I just got all parts of the Tyrant armorset. And TBH i'm not really satisfied, as i had to pump 2 extra points into strength to get the last part, and also considering that i have to wear the whole set so i don't get any cursed-penality:

I think you can use Bless source skill to turn that necrosis into healing ground. I think.

Awesome game.
Currently in 2nd act (still in exploration phase of it -> getting ass kicked by monsters 5-6 levels higher )
Took me whole weekend to get through the 1st act (Tactician difficulty). I slaughtered every magister + characters which gave me an opportunity to initiate fight via dialog.
Some of the battles were damn difficult... My party consists of origin characters: Leshe, Persian nameguy, Red Prince , and my self - err... skeleton dude.
Ie. the first people you meet. It's quite balanced group, though Leshe becomes useful only later, in the beginning she's useless (I don't think there are any 'good' Air spells / healing spells in the beginning).
So far definitely my GOTY, haven't even skipped dialogs like I usually do (dialog has to be funny for me not to skip it)

So far I find this game full of cheap designs.
The companion's quests are laughable, you go from one NPC to the next and step aside to let the companions talk with them. There is no banter, rarely any interactions and sometimes the few interactions aren't all that good like my undead character smelling stuff when he shouldn't be able to smell (his words not mine).
The difficulty curve is terrible, probably worst then the first game. Original Sin threw huge groups of enemies at you from the start but at least they didn't have huge HP and there were tricks to help you in combat. Now an enemies have 3-4-5 times the HP of any of your character (sometimes the HP of all your characters combined) and enough friends to make your life miserable. I like challenge in video games, that's why I play on higher difficulties. I don't like cheaply design challenges that make progression feel tedious if not grindy. You have to run from one battle to the next in order to find a group of enemies that isn't outleveling that much so you have a better chance.
Even the combat has suffered. The combat of the first game was much cleaner because the visuals weren't so flashy.
The UI is still an annoying mess. Sure, it's not glitchy as it was in the first game at launch, but it's poorly designed and in general tedious to work with.
The dialogue system is narrated and feels almost imperative. You don't get to see what your character is saying, just a description of it.
There are many improvements over the first game, but far from what I was expecting or the praises it gets. But I guess I shouldn't be surprised, Original Sin was a pretty overrated game.

The thing is you can't always judge the difficulty of the fight before trying it. Mostly because you don't know how hard the enemies really or or how many they actually are, because more often then not you see 2-3 then a few more appear out of nowhere. So I'm forced to go from one fight to another and see which one I can take on. This is so tediously annoying that I had to take a few breaks just to cool off.
The structure of the Inventory is terrible. By default characters auto-equip on the hotbar everything that's useable. There is no proper movement grid for combat. etc.

- Besides two or so minibosses, which summoned help from like corpses, i only had one standard encounter where another enemy joined the fight. And that was only because it was a rogue in stealth.
- You can hover over enemies and see their stats before a fight or? Generally i don't do a fight if its one level above me and there are too many enemies.
- You can enable a grid in the options.
- Also you can quicksave spam very easy, just in case you don't know if an encounter will end in a fight
I'm sorry, but it seems you are not playing those kind of games that often.

I'm sorry, but it seems you are not playing those kind of games that often. |
-There are multiple fights where enemies pop out of nowhere. You can follow guards patrol paths and attack them and sometimes you'll still have enemies coming from off-screen to attack you.
-Stats don't mean abilities, do they?
-I know you can enable a grid, hence the usage of the word "proper". Like in the first game, the grid is just poorly executed.
-It's this the game's defense for cheap design? That you can quicksave? I think we just hit rock bottom.
You are drawing conclusions based on nothing. You don't play on the same difficulty level as me and you have no clue how I'm playing.

Quote: | "It is fantastic," Swen Vincke, owner of developer and publisher Larian Studios, told me this morning, "but it is also way beyond what we expected. We're close to hitting 500K units sold which is a number I believe took us two or three months with Divinity: Original Sin 1."
Divinity: Original Sin 2 had been available via Steam Early Access for a year leading up to last week's release. Vincke said the game added nearly 180K sales since the 14th September launch.
The unfortunate side effect of such popularity - a concurrent-player CRPG Steam record (from what I can tell) of 85K players - has meant Larian's servers have struggled to cope but, Vincke said, "We should have them up and running again soon."
"As for the console versions, we're now focused on delivering our first patch for the PC version, something that is scheduled for this week," said Vincke. "Lots of players means lots of support issues coming in and we're trying to service them as fast as we can. After that, it'll be a long well deserved break for the team and then we'll boot up our machines again to work on the next things." |
