I do wonder what happened to several of the former allied and axis nations, I don't think the game goes into too much detail on most of it aside from how the US surrendered after being bombed following the failed assassination attempt of Deathshead in the 1950's was it when New Order started?
Probably not much left of most of them, Africa held out for a time though being fortunate that the sandy and hot climate interfered with the mechanized infantry the Germans used but they took a lot of casualties too.
Is it mentioned anywhere in the first part what happened to the soviets?
Probably hitler's original plan to outright kill off a HUGE part of the soviet union population in order to make room for the german population to colonize their country worked.
As opposed to the brutal defeat the krauts suffered on our timeline

1. I wonder how the downgraded versions will look.
2. I had the impression that Nintendo made family-friendly consoles and also disallowed games like Doom/Wolfenstein?

Ever played Conker?
(Which funnily enough Microsoft then had censored for the XBox version.)
Though yeah early NES and SNES "NOA" policies (Nintend of America.) saw a number of oddities in games ranging from de-crossing religious references and building cafes and coffee shops where bars had previously been located.
Some devs snuck through a couple of things even so (And a few skipped sneaking entirely such as Day of Tentacle having their SCUMM engine named Nintendo-SCUMM which was apparently not all too appreciated, figures.) though sexual references and death and other effects also saw some changes.
(Cringe worthy auto-translate dialogue from Japanese to English in some of these lead to a few unintended references too, when the player could understand what was being said at all that is, ha ha.)
Interesting to see idTech running on the Switch console though, not actually sure what the hardware of that thing is although games like Xenoblade Chroncicles X and Breath of the Wild look pretty spectacular, especially via CEMU and a higher internal resolution, heh.
Well it's probably not able to compete directly with the XBO and PS4 but it seems to be keeping up and Nintendo appears to be taking some interesting licenses too which should allow the console to have a more varied library of games than the WiiU though Nintendo still seem to be doing their own thing mostly.
Will look pretty good on the small screen for sure, wonder how many frames it will run.
@jbeckman
Switch uses custom Maxwell based Nvidia Tegra chip.
Looked it up a bit, around 1 Ghz for the CPU core clock speed and 768 Mhz for the GPU though it then down clocks to a little bit under 400 Mhz when undocked for battery life and thermals.
Seems that for DOOM the cartridge will only have the SP content with MP offered as a separate download due to the size constraints which I think is at 32 GB with 64 GB cartridges planned but they're not ready yet. (64 GB cartridges probably have a higher cost too.)
Bethesda told Engadget that the Switch port of Doom will have all the updates and DLC released for the original game except for the SnapMap level editor. It's also worth noting that the physical version of the game will only include the single-player campaign on the game card due to size constraints -- to play online multiplayer, users will need to download a free update. Naturally, users that choose digital-only copies will get the whole package in one go.
I'm not sure if Wolfenstein Colossus even has multiplayer, lowering the resolution of or perhaps just further compressing the texture data should see a pretty significant file size reduction though with this being one of the things with MegaTexture technology though the visuals will take a bit of a hit as a result.
EDIT: Different system but it kinda reminds me of the SNES having 4 - 8 MB cartridges initially and then up to some 32 MB with Tales of Phantasia topping out at I think it was 48 MB.
N64 probably saw a similar evolution although by that point the CD-ROM outclassed it completely in terms of storage capacity although the cartridge had faster loading speed.
(But also cost more to manufacture and it took more time.)
Little add-on chips being used on some of the SNES cartridges too for more advanced graphical effects (Yoshi's Island for one example.) and then for N64 it had expansion paks instead ranging from memory cartridges to rumble effects.
EDIT: Ah so the Switch one looks somewhat like a mini-SD card after looking it up, interesting.
(And competes with blu-ray in terms of storage capacity too though the current 32 GB versions aren't quite at that level yet.)
Goes well with the portability aspect I suppose compared to using discs.
The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. The good things don’t always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don’t always spoil the good things and make them unimportant.
I hope this get's yarr'd fast... I'm definitely not playing this shit in German and without the chance of turning insta-nazi when catching a glimpse of a swastika (makes for more thrilling gameplay!).
Nice trailer. I am surprised. Hope they will not do Tarantino too much and be more original than that. And as for gameplay.. I really hope all stealth is optional. I hated it in first game with shitty ai

On the bright side, at least the idtech5 was buried with all the nazi zombies, I still remember the issues with caching, advanced cfg-ing and whatnot in order to avoid the stuttery megablurrytextures effect...a (not so fun) game inside the game
Everything is looking great indeed so far here, let's hope for the best men.

Well because RAGE ran like garbage and the previous wolfenstein really didn't fare that much better...
IDcrap 5 never really amounted to much, possibly one of the worst engines ever. 6 has one game with it so far, that one ran pretty well but we only saw it in one game so far but it wasn't enough for me to forget the crap that was 5.
Also... it's published by bethesda
FO4: crap performance
DOOM: great performance
D2: crap performance (mostly fixed)
Prey: ok performance
DDoO: ok performance (apparently...)
this: ?

Anyway, why you are still twisting the fact, that this uses completely different engine? Ah well, if it somehow turns out be shit, then the developers should perhaps change their job, seeing how awesome the engine was on DOOM (there is so much effects and shit onscreen at times, still it runs constant 120+ fps on my rig totally maxed out with 3440x1440).
