In road cars there's usually not a lot of stuff you CAN change, gear ratios being one of them (unless you replace it with a completely different, race unit).
Besides, on a "default setup" it can't reach 300 km/h? Something's not right.

Dear god, has anyone tried this through VR yet? It's horrific, cars disappearing on track. Track side signage suddenly disappearing - like brake boards and other useful things. Pitstop crew losing their guns.
It's dreadful! I've tried adjusting the clipping settings and such like but it's still doing it. Shocking

Damned aliens!
For me the issue so far is "only" the AI, but I've been testing it with multiple scenarios and the range of inconsistencies is sadly pretty damn big at the moment. Some of dem faulty behaviours really cannot be unseen: apart from the Carmageddon effect near the first corner (50+% chance of happening), there seems to be the anomaly like guvna mentioned with timings themselves where cars perform differently from one would expect.
The CPU skills also change depending on certain combinations, you have one race where there's the right balance, then you jump into another one and everyone seems affected by the derp sloth disease, some serious tuning is required.
I'm having an absolute blast with the game, but let's really hope the dedicated team of macaques from the the AI department can push some random buttons and do something about that soon..ish

Huracan has 7 gears.
@pax, can't beat that, need years of practice. I'm still fiddling with FFB settings as on default, i almost had my wrists turned in a run ...

VR on the Rift has been pretty perfect for me. I have noticed a few random flickers on occasion but nothing else.
Getting excellent constant 90fps as well. Turning up settings a little at a time. Supersampling at 1.5 and most settings at medium and car detail on ultra.

How the heck do you drift in this game?! With all the assists off, my car remains locked in the sliding side, no matter how much I counter-turn. If I counter-turn earlier, it snaps on the other way .. watta?!

Only proper drift car in this game seems to be the Redbull Mazda MX5, Assetto Corsa with Drift workshop cars/street heroes cars is still king of drifting,so good physics.

If you want drift, go AC, PC2 isnt worth it, not even close to simulating the most basic of things around drifting.

I can initiate, but my car locks on slide, no matter if I counter-steer or not, it washes out at some point. I'll try with hard slicks, see if it makes any difference.

Apparently the CSI.RIN version runs also the multiplayer part.
Did someone test this?

Finally tried the game and omg am i in love. Even though I've played on gamepad I don't remember the last time I had so much fun in some racing game. Except Dirt Rally, but pure racing game, I can't remember.
I love it how you can customize pretty much everything and playing with gamepad is surprisingly very good. As soon as i get some money I'm buying it. And this game blows Forza 7 out of the way.

There is demo available and driving model, immersion and freedom of customisation of literally everything can't even come close to PC2.
I really tried with Forza 7, but it is just bad and now when i've tried PC2 there is no way im giving it another chance.

I'll have to sort out a vid, because for me, it is horrendous, I fiddled with some settings, especially the near clip setting, but it still looks like aliens are indeed abducting cars midrace...

Likewise, there isn't even a competition as far as I'm concerned, Forza is simply too gamey and approximative to be considered a proper opponent. It gets universally praised for being complete and polished, when it's essentially a synonym for lack of depth both in terms of driving model and track design.
PC2 has definitely shifted towards a more simulative side, it's not a pure sim yet but most of the cars handle in a believable way and require attention and precision if one wants to succeed. Rough AI aside, it's pretty much the most complete driving experience on PC in terms of full package (cars/physics/tracks - without forgetting the dynamic weather - missing in practically all the simulations). A jack of all trades and..actually master of several stuff as well , expectations weren't high but everything went better than expected.
@Silent_Lurker: Nice, it's a start! (also: Project CARS 2 Update v1.1.3.0 incl DLC-CODEX)
