If you still want fanboys, take a look at the reddit page. They even spew their shit to the Star Citizen refund page, which helps people obtain a refund for their investments.

Too many promises over the year that 3.0.0 would be THE beginning of the end of development...
25fps.
Defend that, dicks.

There's some footage from Squadron 42, take it as you will
Difficult to comment on something like this at the moment with the signature movie-like framerate and stuttering to simulate the wormholes along with the glitchy Star Roughness. It does look pretty, the soundtrack seems to be solid and I actually like how the narrative is merged with the gameplay (which doesn't look too automatized) but...yeah. Everything is still such a huge messy work in progress question mark stuck in an uninhabitable exoplanet, a man's imagination can only stretch so far xD

Squadron 42 looks amazing
Horrible FPS but its not exactly difficult to fix in the CryEngine.
The MMO is the hard part for them.

Runs as great as Star Citizen, must be dem servers messing with the frames yo!
Looks decent enough if they'd ever fix the performance... but I doubt they will perform miracles.

so I just tried out 3.0 and I'm really impressed outside of performance but I'm ok with that.
An SSD is a must, I had average 10fps, (3-25fps) with a regular hard drive, I get 25-30fps with an SSD.
FPS is not at all good enough for release, I think I would need at least 45fps minimum.
It uses about 10GB of memory as well.
This is with a Nvidia 1080 working at about 40% and my 5820k @ 4.5Ghz not working very hard either so its clearly either server FPS or something else.

Really I don't understand all this hatred toward this game when the rest of the game scene is plagued with shitty ports, unoriginal IPs and predatory tactics.
This game is clearly far from done but at least it has ambition, scope and some hope to be successful.
The 3.0 PTU has its numerous shortcomings but some aspect are downright impressive. Personally I am waiting more for SQ42 that seems just to be like the good space games of old, which I want.
FPSs are all over the place, with smooth 60-50 if you'r lucky and mid 30-25 on populated servers, this is clearly something that can be addressed server side.
All this people bashing this game no matter what have at least tried it?
If you don't like it fine! but it seems that some are losing sleep over this game being somewhat successful.

It has not been even slightly succesful lol, and most likely won't be. But I guess you wasted a lot of money on this so you are in denial.
Why is this topic still not renamed to "Scam Citizen"?

They are just frame drops.
There is a huge difference between 30 > 5fps randomly then a solid 5fps. |
Oh surprise, a non answer.

I doubt they have.
Star Citizen + Squadron 42 cost me $30... thats it
I'm just enjoying moving around the game and looking at everything.
The space simulation is miles ahead of anything I've ever seen, its amazing.
Game devs could spend years trying to make their game look and simulate the world like star citizen does and they would fail.
The scope of the game is insane and deserves criticism for that, but I love the crazy scope and most people must agree or they wouldn't have invested all that money.
If you wanted a game with a small scope, why aren't you playing Elite Dangerous?
Grale wrote: | Share your system specs NIGos, i'd be interested to how you get such good performance. |
My system runs at 30-40% capacity, its not system limited, its server limited.
Your performance in Star Citizen is 100% dictated by the server provided you have reasonable specs and an SSD.

*Looks at SQ42 footage*, *Laughs*
While there is some attributed to shitty netcode in SC, it is not 100%.

I can only assume SQ42 is using 100% of the system that was playing it.
Star Citizen does not.
There is no reason for CryEngine to use 30% of a CPU/GPU unless its limited for some reason.
This means that if I had the ram for it, I could run three Star Citizen 3.0's at 25-30fps...
Its a completely fixable situation.
Do you have an alternative theory as to why GPU/CPU's are working at 30%?
And you are proven wrong anyway because the offline hack fixed performance previously.

So it was just another (likely) highly doctored video preview then, and still with no release date in sight (surprise!)...
Not a big deal really, plenty to play until 20XX

That "situation" will only be fixed because by the time the game finally comes out in an acceptable state in 3-4 years ( optimistic prediction ), hardware will have somewhat caught up to its delirious requirements.
And that's just for the non-netcode part.

60-65 fps if your lucky. Not a chance!
Mid 30 -25 fps. Check my specs in my sig, i've never seen better than 25 fps at best.
Low 20's and drops to 8 fps is what my experience has been.
I do like it, i do like what could be possible. But it's not successful, it's a fucking mess and unplayable. 5 years is it? to get this point
Share your system specs NIGos, i'd be interested to how you get such good performance. |
I've got the usual high-end config. Titan Xp intel 6850 some ram and fast ssd.
Of course 60 fps is with an empty server but, as said, the bottleneck is more in the networking; with full server it runs like a stephen hawking which is okay for being an alpha.
Clearly also this game is not pacman so I don't see why anyone expects 4K Ultra detail on potato Gpus, just like the good Crysis of old.
On top of that of course a heavy optimization pass is to be expected.
Now we all know that bashing supporters is fun so I will let you all enjoy.
