First you gotta have an Imperioratum subscription in order to unlock exclusive content, like the Test Pilot Alpha Access. And of course you need to buy an experimental Thundercat XS8 to actually be able to leave the Hangar and fly around the system. In order to jump to another system you'll need the Explorer Pass, which comes with a bonus ingame duster jacket!
The Eplorer Pass is only given to full citizens of course, so you need to first buy some land on a planet, then apply for Star Citizenship, a 1-time purchase of 60$, great value for money in the long run.
we will have the opening keynote and my closing available for everyone that has a Star Citizen account, no digital pass required, with the other sessions requiring a digital pass to see live (and remember you'll be able to see these at your leisure, no restrictions a few days later)
So it looks like the opening with probably some trailer and the closing will be available to everyone with an account. After 2-3 days everything else from the live steam will be available for everyone to watch on YouTube. Not as bad as it initially looked like with those $20 Digital Passes but still I don't understand why CIG are even going for such expensive event approach without even having a proper game to show.
They see Blizzcon and whatevercon, notice: hey this makes proper money... let's do this!
Forgetting they haven't even finished one game. Having only one unfinished game that people backed years ago and they figured it was okay to milk em even more.
If they ever release the game, like hell this crap will stop.
When the game is going to come out it will be better than reality. You will not want to disconnect from your CIG Chris Roberts VR Goggles (tm)* to live in your peasant reality. Just connect your CIG Chris Roberts PooperPisser (tm) and CIG Chris Robers approved IV filled with Sweet Lies (tm) vein grub.
*Hardware not certified by Chris Roberts CIG RSI doesn't support Star Citizen and Squadron 42.

After sleeping on this, I am going to chalk this one up to experience.
We're going to cut back on the live-streaming crew / costs but have both stages streamed for anyone with a Star Citizen user account.
Star Citizen Content Creators are welcome to rebroadcast our stream live.
If you would like to support the additional costs of streaming all the presentations, you can support the show by purchasing the CitizenCon digital goodies package (Imperators still get this as their October flair)

Haha
The way the message is worded sounds like people are expected to be genuinely grateful that the streaming no longer costs 20 dollars. A temporary divine concession for all the beloved cultists, in the name of the Roberts!
But but but live streams are very expensive these days, don't yall now ?
They may announce some planned game features removal to compensate the costs !

Cutting costs, what does the retard mean? Why can't they apologise and say they decided to give everyone with a SC account access to thank the community for their support or some shit?
I wonder if any part of the game(s) has reached 20% completion yet. Chris Roberts made some great games back in the day but this time he went stellar (pun intended) with his vision and intent leading to difficulties finding a single publisher/investor ready to put down a Quadruple-A budget for a game system that transcends anything we've seen so far (and which may be impossible to pull off anyway) and instead bleed the backers and supporters dry to keep paying for their expensive offices with luxury furniture etc. as well as tons of useless stuff that doesn't have anything to do with developing the game (except as PR).

According to the last Progress Watch on Reddit, even 3.3 is 37% ready with only 1 month left to release it
And I was always sure Chris Roberts (at least since Microsoft booted him out from Freelancer since he wanted some ridiculous budget at that time) is the kind of a person with a labile mind when purchasing stuff. He probably goes to the shop only for a toothpaste and comes back 2 weeks later with 5 electric toothbrushes, a new car, new 6k TV, most expensive PC atm and a kilo of coke. Such person should never have large amounts of money in him and here we are giving him $200+ millions and hoping he will release the best space game ever. Even that he has great vision and ideas for games is useless when he cant control himself.
You know what's funny?
When I read the title "[Beta in 2046]", my first thought wasn't the usual "yea I get it, joke", but "hmm, atleast there is a date now".

Roberts needs someone to keep him in check. What happens with SC already happened with Freelancer. He's too ambitious for his own good. Microsoft had to spend millions and millions of dollars and a couple more years of development time just to release a stripped down version of Freelancer after they got rid of him for mismanagement.
He was probably pocketing a huge salary from Microsoft without intending to ever release a game. That won't fly for long. But years later the crowdfunding culture enabled hkm to do just that. Have a big salary and constantly be the center of attention about his super awesome vision.
Without delivering what the fans basically wanted all along: SQ42, the space epic people want to play
Anyone still expecting this to be released is, I'm afraid, intellectually retarded. It is just an ongoing scam, designed to try and slurp as much cash from the gullible as possible. This PPV shite was just another attempt at scamming which, this time, was a step too far it seems.
At least this time you got to watch something for paying. Those thick fucks paying money for concept art deserve destitution.

I think you're 100% correct. He seems to be a terrible leader, project manager and planner. He's a visionary lacking the more practical qualities needed to bring something like this to fruition by overreaching and underestimating basically every stage of production.
He isn't even visionary. His game projects are not some ground breaking ideas, they are just big in scope.
They doesn't have some original gameplay mechanics or weird ideas. The other fraud with his god-sims could be called visionary and at least in his golden age made some great and interesting games.
Robert is like a child who says we will have a space sim but you will be able to do everything not only fly in space, but also walk on planets and stations (shit and pissing excluded). Which is something that isn't some brilliant new idea.
Just wasn't really made by anyone because not everything on paper is great in final project. To be honest walking freely on a ship is just a gimmick, you could call immersion but put on perspective sooner or later a player would want just to get in the cockpit without all the animations he has to see for 100x time and just fly to another fucking mission point.

Well, that's part of the vision: to get more immersed and feel like you're actually more than just a teleporting avatar. But that's basically only interesting for hardcore simulation fans that actually do want to do all the stuff we do in real life (not flying space ships but the physical things). I could see how it's alluring, esp. if combined with very good virtual reality. Not really my cup of tea though since I find the idea of spending 10 minutes just walking from my quarters to walk to my ship and embark very tedious.
True. Shafer and Molyneux could be considered visionaries when it comes to overpromising devs (to put it very lightly), but Roberts seems to be just a bad leader. Good con artist though.
