The puzzle battle in the town against the angry mob... how the hell do you do that?
There must have been a door there in the wall, when I came in.

Yea I fought with that one as well...it a tricky thing...u need to use your infantry ability to switch lanes...So firstly use the unit with the armor addon ability (warden smtin dont remember name now) and place it in the melee lane...Secondly use the wagon card (melee lane) to get 2 additional units (melee infantry) that add armor to the special card....thirdly use the ability of the melee infantry to move them to range lane then play you last card...u get the ability to move the infantry back to melee lane thus making the attack of the special card to 6 and killing them all...

The game released only on GOG, can't be nuked if it has no drm.

Speaking of puzzles...anyone up to the She Troll puzzle? I get my guy to 19 armor to deal 19 dmg and she has 20 health...not sure how to get 20.
EDIT: Nvm I figured it out...if anyone needs help it goes something like this...
Spoiler: | Play Wagenburg on ranged row. Play the two jumping horses next to it. Play the caravan on melee row (this pulls horses up). Next turn play Caravan on bottom row (this pulls horses down). Pass turn to get all the orders up on the 2 strength dudes. Now bounce the horses using the 2 strength dudes until you're out of charges, play the order reset dude on ranged row to reset their order charges, bounce them again, should be at 20 armor to kill the troll. |

I like how there are not many "good" options, and choosing a "good" option is not always the best thing to do, because people are assholes.

I was surprised by how different the Gwent in this game is when compared to the original one (completely new rules and cards, very different strategical approaches, and two rows), but after the initial phase spent re-learning the basics and uttering "they've changed too much, them whoresons" I'm definitely getting addicted again.
The simplistic isometric wandering 'n clicking around for loot feels a bit mundane, thankfully though the visual novel-like narrative style with choices and the voice acting are quality ones (just as expected) and make everything worthwhile.

Yeah, the puzzles are the most fun aspect of the game so far. Regular gwent battles... meh, not grown into them yet.

I loathe the puzzles. All of them thus far have been "you must play these exact cards in this exact order or you fail". Good in small doses, but there's far too many for my taste.
I can never be free, because the shackles I wear can't be touched or be seen.

Just finished the Grumpykowskian tale, not a grandmaster gameplay-wise but the fantastic storytelling, characters and music/voice acting are the true protagonists here. It complements the main games very well with references and even cameos (out of the blue ), along with the usual fascinating setting.
As for the sense of immersion and revolutionized Gwent itself, it's more of a mixed bag. I found the hybrid interesting (especially the puzzles) but after some hours it becomes noticeable that the core gameplay suffers from a few serious hindrances that put it on the flabby side of Rivia: the very low difficulty of the battles (even on Bonebreaker), but also the mobile-like simplistic exploration that never evolves, as well as the reduced layer of strategies when compared to the original Gwent and its multiple decks. More often than not I could just play my selected cards without even caring about the enemy's moves, felt almost like an awesomebutton-powered auto resolve.
Still, it's a journey that's worth playing as a timewasting pleasure, the story has the ability to remain solid from start to finish and your decisions do matter (C&C is there, affecting how the events unravel).
P.S. I did however sweat a lot on the final encounter, the bastard had angry ballistas and nearly infinite resources , though it's ultimately a matter of luck and...timing!*
*
Spoiler: | Try to make him waste most of his humongous deck during the first round, you'll lose it miserably (ended mine 250 - 0 ), but then, if all goes well and you have solid offensive units and traps (x5, alongside recovering cards, Meve's ability to play two additional ones and the card that converts the # of damage received to attacking power) the second and third rounds should be doable after a few tries.
Bonus spoiler:
Spoiler: |
Meve and her aching tooth, not the best way to greet a legend xD |

Thronebreaker regional pricing has been adjusted on Steam to the equivalent of $29.99. Its was never our intention for the game to cost less. Sorry for the inconvenience.
So the original price was a mistake

That's what happens when you make it GOG exclusive.

What a great game, real gem.
Puzzles suck, some of them at least.

I loved gwent in W3 but for some reason I can't stand it in the Gwent game and in this game. Otherwise the story and some of the puzzles were great. I'm not surprised it sold less than expected because it's a niche game and the promoted gog exclusivity didn't help either.

Card genre is a bit saturated, I am not surprised. I mean, don't they have a Gwent game out already? They are competing with themselves.
