Anyone else having issues with savegame files? I saved and quicksaved but I start the game again and all progress is lost...anyone have a solution for this?
Turn off volumetric clouds! Or put em to absolute lowest, they kill performance and don't really look that nice tbh.
That said im 60% through, going for 100% completion, god this is a long game. I wish they had fewer enemy outposts per area, they feel very grindy unfortunately, when there's like 3 athens/sparta outposts, 2 bandit camps, and 1 hunter camp PER area, you reaaaally just wanna get it over with. I've gotten to the point where i do the blink strike, kill 4 people, loot the chests and run out, don't care who sees me, then just pay off the bounty to get the mercenaries off my back.
Yeah, im on the same boat regardning getting fatique in clearing all the locations, i have half the map uncovered and when you are going for the Ore aswell for the Vendor you are even more exhausted.
Spoiler:
As of now i can play maybe an hour and then im bored to death and need another hour to calm down to get the game on again ^^
Atleast you can only collect them once per game/license (not save bound).

sounds like the usual denuvo/uplay problem .... iirc solution was related to indexing on save folder ....but dont rememeber it exactly
I pick them up if I find them but I didn't bother with the maps (Although I would just use a online one or video.) though I did notice new side quests pop up as you clear chapters and some also disappear although mainly if they affected the current plot point so if you clear that early the side quests usually don't have much of a purpose although it can change some of the outcomes a bit.
Chapter 7 now, was about to clear up Sparta a bit and then the power went out for a while.
(This is sparta indeed, booted right out!)

Yep thanks for that. It seems you need to enable indexing of the folder where the savegames are located. That worked like a charm!
It's a bit divided due to the three separate plot lines as you start and then get involved in something else and then finally yet another thing which can be cleared at your own leisure and pace.
The third of these definitively felt like it was meant as the canonical finale to the game though but having quested around the islands I had it almost completed from the get-go so I wrapped that one up first which felt a bit disconnected where it was just waiting for the credits to roll but then nope back into the game because these other plot points are still not cleared up.
The game also has a bit of a weird thing with trying to mix drama and comedy together with tragedy and more serious tones so you can go from some really serious events to some really silly stuff depending on what side quests you end up on or even during some of the main missions although overall the theme for these is Greek theatrical tragedy.
Also there's never really a sense of urgency or time being a factor and some of the dialogue choices feel a bit weighted or the way the character acts can be completely different than expected.
(The original implementation had more info as to what the result would lead to but Ubisoft felt it was a bit too guiding for players.)
EDIT: And there is some modern day events although they're brief but Ubisoft looks to be breaking from the formula a bit and doing what appears to be the start of a literal soft reboot of the series.
(End-game spoiler of a sort although more of a guesswork and theory from info from Origins and Odyssey so far.)
Spoiler:
And more, the Animus and the Isu seem to be using Layla to basically change the simulation of reality itself probably bending the ever living hell out of the timeline and to hell with the existing canon too we're just undoing this little plot obstacle and discarding some of the current plot threads left unanswered.
Or answered in the side material like the comics and books and what not including several major plot events not that the modern day really feels very important in these two games here.
Next up Rome and 2020 for release date was it, will be interesting to see where this all ends up.
(Whoops the overdid it? Well maybe, maybe not.)
I really enjoy myself in this game. However, the guys going for 100% I can totally understand how it would be way too grindy and overwhelming. I just go through all the main story quests, ignoring the grey/generated ones mostly. And this way its fine, I have about 70 hours played, level 45 and almost done with the main story.
So to avoid burning out, I'd really recommend not going for 100% completion.
yeah going for 100% must be crazy in game with such volume of bloat ... i just do occassional sidestuff when its on my way to where i go and thats pretty much it
Well you kinda have to do most of it. A lot of cultist clues are hidden in forts & optional islands and random ship combat. I've clocked 50 hours so far, 60% and level 45 like yourself, but i play pretty efficiently

I haven't played Odyssey much. I played origins like this. I did only the sidequests to level for the main quest.
They mostly tell you where they are so you can use that to quickly wrap up the roaming cultists at least without hitting every question mark in the region, can't do that for the leaders though because they don't even spawn without unveiling them and the same goes for any plot cultist that have hints on how you must continue your odyssey.
The cultist plotline kinda unraveled itself though when the first major hint I got immediately narrowed down the candidates to just one but a few searches showed it to be a pretty common complaint and many of the hints are really clear on who you're going after.
Super secretive cult leaves obvious paper trail, kinda funny really but I suppose you need some gameplay mechanic without making it some convoluted search for these NPC's with how big the game world is though they are still quite spread out.
Spoiler:
Took out N# 1 the merc bro who just happened to be roaming the lands and that hint might as well have been the only one needed because it only leaves a single possible candidate. Not that you can do anything with this until the very end of the game however but the notes and stuff are so clear in the hints the cult comes across as completely incompetent though they are pretty ridiculous as is I suppose.
EDIT: Eh well it's not quite as bad as Starric the cartoon villain caricature of Assassin's Creed Syndicate at least though he had some style if nothing else.
I figured out who the cultist leader was just by following the family story line as one of the early cultists you kill drop a clue that goes
Spoiler:
The chief cultist is involved in Athenian politics.
And her cult page model is that of a woman.
Now then, to count off the people I've met in the course of this game who meets those two criteria. One, aaaand just the one.
Never mind that the cultist ending was so anti climatic.
Cult leader: This is why I did those things!
You: K
Spoiler:
Now let me just hold on to this staff for 2500 years and do absolutely nothing to stop 2 idiotic factions from causing massive wars, and then I'll show up at the end to pass on the immortality staff and die so that the regular modern person will now have to unfuck the fuck up I've let pass while I, the 2500 year old murder machine who has singlehandedly murdered thousands of people and even some monsters can go on to isu heaven.
Gave the game a few hours, finished the starting island.
I have to say that while the gameplay and RPG elements do look nicer than Origins, the combat physics and the movement animations seem really off, especially compared to the last title. It's like I'm a feather, swinging and slashing at feathers, really weightless and floaty. There is no real sense of your sword or spear hitting anything that's not air, it feels like there is no weight in anything. I mean Origins' combat wasn't all that heavy either, but somehow they managed to make this even lighter.
Same goes for the movement animations. Bayek's movement and walking animation was much better and more polished than what I'm seeing here, this feels much cheaper and less polished.
Other than these, the game seems really fun thanks to the new systems.

Can't even play an hour of it, after RDR2 all open worlds just feel so bland and dead.
Not to forget the ubishit-trademark busywork and icon overload.
Skippety skip.
@harry_theone This immediately hit me during the beginning Leonidas section. It can really put me off and break the "combat" illusion, when there is no sense of weight and everything is a leaf that's blown back and forth in a wind.
The fact that I replayed on of my old favorites, "Blade of Darkness" a few months ago probably didn't help this either I mean one can bash that game's clunky controls, but the sense of combat physics and meatiness to it all is still unparalleled to this day.
I'm not looking for the exact same experience in an AC game of course, but I didn't expect an even more lighter arcadey experience than Origins either, that's all.

RDR2 is such a wake up call for how much these "AAA" developers skip on their games.
