Been a while since we've had any updates on progress. Lookin' great, but ranged weaponry still seems like it's going to ruin the fun, as per Chivalry. Hopefully there will be servers where you can toggle that crap off.

Fuckin A! Been waiting on this one forever. Here's to hoping it launches in a respectable state (that's a tough ask these days!)

Finally this is launching ! Thought that inaccessible alpha would never end !
From most Alpha footage, the game seems playable and has some decent content already.
Will most likely be a purchase

Is this from the same studio that did Chivalry? I seemed to hear those hilarious battle screams
lol yeah I loved that. running at people while screaming is quite cathartic
Seems to be other people though

Mordhau is being developed by Triternion. We're a young, 10-person international team driven by our passion for melee games and the medieval era.
We've accumulated thousands of hours of playtime in awesome titles such as Chivalry, Mount & Blade, War of the Roses, the Jedi Knight series, and many others, too.
Having been part of the community as players as well as content creators, we feel we’re in a unique position to use this experience to refine and further evolve the melee genre.
looking forward to this.

Can't help but fantasize about how glorious KC:D would be with a combat system similar to this (or Chivalry). The game had a ton of other qualities and as a fully immersive package still ended up being excellent (easily one of my personal favourites from the past five years), but having proper meaty feedback, 360° movement/flow and dismemberment? Giggity. Let's hope part II will improve that.
Its still chivalry at its core, with some takeaways from warband.
The core of combat system is that your defensive options are all timed unless you use a large shield, and that leads to all attacks being slow as if you're swinging your weapons underwater because they all need to be draggable by turning against the swing direction to hit later into the attack.
It leads to combat looking and feeling incredibly clunky and unresponsive compared to warband, the windows for recovering from a missed swing are huge, window for recovering from a block is huge as well.
What you see the most is people are basically sprinting in a snake pattern swinging zweihanders in huge arcs dealing full damage regardless of where in the swing it hits(at least it feels like) as opposed to warbands sweetspot mechanic which rewarded more precise strikes
Maybe its just my problem because i come from warband multiplayer, but i feel like this attack dragging technique, along with feinting, is much more effective and easy to execute than chambering which they added from warband. At least i rarely got killed by a chamber, while people spinning and wiggling while swinging a huge sword got me a LOT of times today
Personally i dont understand why they went with 360 degrees circle for attacks(actually more like 270 because purely vertical strikes arent allowed but whatever) but didnt implement holdable angle based blocks, im not sure what all those angles are for since missing a parry because of angle and not timing is very rare, and chambering is not that good because it doesnt guarantee you anything, while making your opponent mistime an action or miss an attack absolutely does and its not very difficult to just play the range game.
Another thing is that first person view, which the game is primarily made for from what i understand, does not work well with the need of turning in and out of your strikes that much.
Iirc all chivalry pros played with a fisheye pov of above 120 because of this and i simply cant comprehend why would anyone want to promote game mechanics that lead to something like that.
if warband added a call of duty scorepoints and new gfx, id say its pretty much the same tbh
maybe somoeone should make a mod for warband that way
i will always prefer that old game considering the epicness 100vs100 offers compared to silly 32vs32, wtf is this, 2001 tribes where is my 500vs500 games ffs, planetside 2 came close but to scifi and half empty non interactive maps that offer no real story telling like holding a single gate or castle/ramparts can do
