also he has a chainsaw, yet they put a blade to his arm. Why not give a melee knife as well that has the ability to teleport you to a different game (for example Dishonored) and back, and while we are at it, give a Scythe also which can turn foes to allies.

I'm watching some campaign gameplay footage that isn't just for scenic purposes, I can indeed see the issues raised by you guys. The new HUD especially looks very distracting when compared to last year's demo, and the presentation as a whole looks more...blingbling-based/arcade? I genuinely enjoyed 2016's DOOM despite the expected console concessions and silly health replenishing mechanics, but I really hope they won't bastardize it even further
Same concerns as you ixi, hot damn this Monster-alien-super-charged HUD looks awful - truly something you would have come up with in order to entertain us - I hadn't seen this gameplay video yet.
2016 Doom introduced some "ehh" components that were rather okay because you could decide to use them as much as you desired, and they weren't that horrible to begin with - a little touch of derp, when done "right", can feel good. Problem is, they nearly always are slippery slopes.
It feels like more non-pure shooter elements are being added for more awesome impact.. Fingers crossed that the caricature doesn't actually become what it meant to parody.
There's also that concern which looms with the usual endgame Alien/alternative dimension levels where you go kick the source of the monsters/invasion's ass.
It can be great and a satisfying climax, but it can also translate into a relative betrayal of what preceded it and fall flat. Please don't be the latter..
The HUD looks shit but I will refrain from commenting on gameplay until I played it. I like this kind of combat and judging by the part of Rage 2 made by ID this actually might be fun even if overdone.

I agree it doesn't look great, but I am hopeful that it's just a boring opening part of the game played by someone slow as hell vs representative of the entire thing.

Really surprised by the negative reaction here, to me this was the only E3 presentation this year that made me want to play the game immediately :/
Just announce some mode or difficulty/option where the awesome button is disabled. I tried playing 2016 without awesome button and it didn't really work, you wind up starved of ammo & health + once an enemy flashes they become bullet sponges sucking up even more ammo to give you time to press the button. Instead of a massive glowing Piñata make enemies randomly drop ammo and health.
The best shooters I've ever played do not have cutscenes to open doors, kill an enemy, jump a barrier, etc. it just kills it for me. We've been able to jump and open doors unassisted since 1990, surely its more expensive and time consuming doing all the mocap etc. to open a door.
They're trying to change it up from the old repeated formula. Not sure if that's a good idea. When Tomb Raider tried to change things up we ended up with QTE's that were horrible.
From a Doom purist point of view it doesn't look good, sure, but the same could be said about the previous one and it was one of the most entertaining and enjoyable games released that year (along with Dark Souls 3 and Deus Ex Mankind Divided), this one looks like it can stay being that way, which would be enough for me, especially considering I always play these games on the hardest possible difficulty and with the least amount of assists (we'll have to wait and see how that aspect turns out in this one).
He has an unnaturally square and broad face.. i have a super square face (like many Swedes.. we were called "squareheads" in the US for a reason i guess..) but yeah this is over-the-top. Still, pretty spot on i'd say.
What the shit was that "battlederp" mode? The slayer while from demon POV was backpeddling and moving at a snails' pace... no player moves like that so what the shit?
