Alan Wake had it's good points but I grew tired fast of the whole running between lights, power up generators "puzzles" etc.
Quantum Break looked nice but played like a dog turd (game play wise) so I stopped playing after spending some time during the shoot out outside the building early in the game.
They're trying to be cinematic. They nailed it with MP 1+2, then they strayed. Still, a lot of people liked both Alan Wake and Quantum Break.

I will never forgive them for making Max Payne 3 so hard for me to enjoy with the constant interruptions and gun/ammo limitations. I was screaming at my screen "Let me PLAY!"

Max Payne 3 was the last true good shooter. Doom was OK, but had too many compromises.
MP3 was great. No trees, no numbers, no progression, no XP. Just fucking shoot.

yeah wasnt a fan of max payne 3.
crap game compared to 1 and 2, and literally only because they decided to inject cinematic dog shit into every segment of the game.

Yeah and now almost every game has some kind of grind.

I remember MP3 to be very frustrating. Every couple of minutes there was a cutscene that butchered the gameplay to pieces. Otherwise it's a very solid shooter and I enjoyed the shooting as much as the previous two games.

I liked the story and cutscenes. It was a story heavy game, and I loved that.

Tried to play Max Payne 3 last year. IIRC I even bought it, followed by a refund.
Could not get used to the (negative) mouse acceleration. Guess you peasants-to-become are now immune to such PC elite shenanigans, after playing so many shitty console games and ports...

Wat
Mouse control was great. It was so satisfying getting head shots while durrrpas on utub on the derptroller were sliding from left to right.

For what it's worth, recently-ish someone made a script to skip the cutscenes so that it is possible to replay the game and focus on the godlike gunplay without too many interruptions: https://community.pcgamingwiki.com/files/file/1042-max-payne-3-skip-cutscenes-script/
I did very much enjoy the whole package as well back then. The cinematic-ness was too heavy at times but at least it didn't directly affect the gameplay itself - unlike Quantum Break which would inject automatic camera panning, follow(tm) and limit the player's freedom every minute. The Euphoric goodness in terms of feedback/physics did the rest, as well as the lite cover system's implementation which was done in an elegant way, unlike Hurrs of Durr popamole and the likes. Damn now I really want more Payne

Quantum Break's story was pretty nice.

Sure, the first time yeah. But I came back for those juicy shootouts. |
That's what the arcade is for.

I did prefer QB story over MP3 but gameplay wise MP3 was superior.

QB had a great story. Very consistent time travel story, and to any who payed attention: it did not have a happy ending. I liked it a lot, like the characters a lot as well, like the world as well. And the graphics were not bad (though performance was absolute shit).

I really enjoyed QB, clunky peformance was it's drawback. I don't have interest in what's released now and the backlog is empty, so I'll gladly test this one.

I wanted to finish QB for the story, but my problem was the rather boring gameplay. Control doesn't seem to improve on that, especially with that single transforming gun. On the other hand, I could replay Max Payne 2 over and over..

QB's problem wasn't the story or the game's universe, it was the subpar pew pew mechanics. Also to this day I think it's the only game that managed to give me a headache after playing it for more than an hour at a time thanks to the overabundance of various visual effects.

Qb problem was terrible pacing with the show, Main character stupid fucking face and weak shooting.
Control comes out in 2 days. I would TOTALLY get this but not on epic... it looks good enough
